Emergency helicopter and police near pitzhanger - anyone know what’s happened?

Saw this helicopter while walking in the park, then spotted a road closed and police cars around Kent Gardens.

Spoke to the pilots - didn’t ask what was going on as I figured that was inappropriate. Really nice chill guys. Then I spotted the road closure as I kept walking.

Not sure if they are related - I saw paramedics heading back to the helicopter from the general direction of the closed road so it seems likely they are. I hope no one is seriously hurt.

Would there be any interest in a little counter demo against the horrible anti abortion activists at Ealing Broadway?

Maybe just a little group of us with signs or even a little fundraiser for a pro choice organisation?

Ealing Council approves new four-year plan with nine priorities

Labour-run Ealing Council has approved a new four-year Council Plan setting out nine priorities that will guide the local authority’s work over the next four years.

The plan, debated at a full council meeting on Tuesday (30 June 2026), aims to tackle issues including crime and antisocial behaviour, housing, climate change, children’s services, jobs, health and investment across the borough.

Council leader Councillor Peter Mason said the plan translated the commitments made at the local elections into “a four-year plan of action” and would shape the work of both councillors and council officers over the next four years.

In a post published on the council’s Around Ealing website following the meeting, Councillor Mason said: “The council plan is, most importantly, a promise to you, our residents. It sets out the things that we are trying to achieve. We are making a commitment that this is where we are focusing our efforts. And we want you to hold us to account for delivering it.”

Ealing Council described the plan’s nine missions as:
crack down on crime and anti-social behaviour and tackle its root causes
secure a safe and genuinely affordable home for every family while working to end homelessness and rough sleeping
take decisive action on the climate emergency while keeping streets clean and roads clear
ensure every child has the best start in life and tackle the barriers holding young people back
create an inclusive economy, help bring down the cost of living and use taxpayers’ money efficiently
bring more good, well-paid jobs to the borough and breathe new life into town centres
strengthen neighbourhoods and community pride
enable people to live healthier lives while tackling inequalities
deliver sustainable growth with investment across all seven towns in the borough

Councillor Mason said the plan built on what he described as achievements over the past four years, including delivering new homes despite a difficult housing market, expanding climate action and creating new parks and green spaces.

He said: “This is why we have called this council plan ‘Values in Action’.

“It is a restatement of the progressive values that drive this administration and it is a practical plan of action that shows the difference people will see in their lives.”

The Council Plan was approved despite opposition from the Liberal Democrats, Conservatives and Green Party, whose councillors all voted against it during the meeting.

Leader of Ealing Liberal Democrats, Councillor Gary Malcolm said the Liberal Democrats believed the plan failed to address residents’ concerns over housing, children’s services, street cleanliness, crime and anti-social behaviour.

While Ealing Conservatives leader Councillor Julian Gallant said the plan contained “warm words” but lacked detail and measurable targets, arguing it failed to demonstrate how the council would deliver its ambitions.

Mutual care for my dog

I am a new dog owner in ealing and looking to find a community for my dog. By community I mean one or two families whose dog I can board/ take care of when they need and they can do the same for mine when needed. Basically trying to find an extended family so that I don’t have to leave her with new people every time.

Will I find this? How should I go about it? Looking to build a long term relationship based on trust, and love for our dogs.

Restaurants & bars near broadway closing

Franco manca, china bistro, teatro hall bar (by filmworks)… and now las iguanas today. All in quick succession.

A few months ago, artisan (my favourite coffee shop) had also threatened to close as ealing council had hiked the rent up extortionately. They remain open whilst their owner takes the council to court.

Anyone got an inside scoop here? Wonder what will replace them.

Leftist posters keep getting torn down in Ealing

I've been living in Ealing for the last two years and have consistently seen posters relating to Marxism, socialism, communism and other leftist areas repeatedly torn down.

Last night, I was walking home and was pleasantly surprised to see some posters were untouched. On my walk to the shops this morning, I saw most had been scratched or torn.

Who is so committed to making sure every one of these posters has to be taken down? What's so threatening about the notion that the working class should organise?

Wandsworth Selective Licence - early bird discount

Just are reminder that Wandsworth Council's new scheme went live on 1 April 2026 so if you have not applied for a licence you are at risk of a fine and Rent Repayment Order. The council is still running the early bird discount at the moment. One of the misunderstandings is that licensing only applies to HMOs.

The selective licensing scheme extends licensing to all private rented accommodation occupied by a single household or two unrelated sharers in three council wards.

The three council wards covered by the new selective licensing designation are:

  • East Putney
  • Northcote
  • West Putney

Remember, that the potential cost can escalate very fast (see article below) so if you are in these wards don't spend time thinking about this. You need a licence and it might cost you thousands if you wait.

Ealing Golf Club

Interested to hear everyone’s experience with Ealing golf club? Was a member there for many years throughout my childhood and then again just before Covid. Quit just after Covid as they whacked my membership fee up 20% after having the course closed for many months during Covid, which I still paid for, and happily so.

Membership fee now introduced which makes costs significant to rejoin - reality is I have a young family so won’t be able to play that often. I’ve looked into the life style membership but the joining fee remains and you don’t have the option to just play 9.

What are your experiences with Ealing? I’m not aware of other nearby courses that I should look into. Given my lack of time, convenience is important

Pre debt court hearing proceedings for FPN

Hi everyone,
I’m looking for some advice regarding a £600 fly-tipping Fixed Penalty Notice from Ealing Council.
I live above commercial premises and there are no communal bins for residents. My letting agent told us that residents leave their household rubbish at a particular location for collection.
The rubbish involved was ordinary household waste, but I put it out on a non-collection day.
I received the FPN in May and submitted a written explanation stating:
I live above businesses with no communal bins.
My letting agent advised that this was the correct place to leave rubbish.
The waste was normal household rubbish and not dumped illegally.
I received an acknowledgment email informing that that my representations would be reviewed and that I would receive a response. However, I never received any decision or acknowledgment of my explanation.
I have now received a “Pre-Court Proceedings” letter stating that the matter may be referred to the Magistrates’ Court if I do not pay the £600.
Has anyone experienced something similar with Ealing Council or another council? Should I ask for the evidence and confirmation that my representations were considered? Is it normal for a case to proceed without responding to the explanation that was submitted?
Any advice would be appreciated.

Ealing decides 2026 : Greens win North Acton ward by-election

Marijn van de Geer from Ealing Greens has won the North Acton ward by-election which took place on 25 June 2026.

The Ealing Council by-election, which saw a 24.21% voter turnout, was triggered following the resignation of Green Party councillor Simon Anthony, who stepped down shortly after being elected last month (7 May 2026) citing health reasons.

Abdi Ahmed Liberal Democrats: 523
Marijn van de Geer Green: 804
Sally Gorman Conservatives: 257
Jonathan Notley Reform UK: 309
Gareth Shaw Labour: 642

Speaking to EALING.NEWS following her win, Councillor Marijn van de Geer, said: “I am so excited, I’m so grateful to all all the people in North Acton, the incredible Ealing Greens, and actually Greens from all over London who came out to help. I couldn’t have done it without them.”

Ms van de Geer added: “People on the doorstep have been so kind, so welcoming. I’ve been invited in for cups of tea, glass of water. It’s been absolutely phenomenal. The welcome I’ve had from the community, I’ve heard some really serious things that people need help with, and I cannot wait to get to work and work for the people of North Acton.”
