Robert Funaro (Eugene) originally being cast as Ralph and filming scenes with Tony before being replaced by Joey Pants still blows my mind.
I give Funaro a lot of credit for not falling apart: he booked a major, life-changing role on the biggest TV series of all time, only to lose it a few days into shooting which must’ve been crushing. I believe on Talking Sopranos they said it just wasn’t working, they tried to make Funaro look older and there was no chemistry with Tony onscreen. But he took the consolation prize of a much smaller role in Eugene, hung around, and eventually got a nice little one-episode arc. Not easy, being an actor!

My doctor put me on a blood pressure med last week, and not once have I tried to have sex with another man. Was Vito lying?
I’m 46, just a kid, and I was initially hesitant when my doctor prescribed me a medication that lowers blood pressure in response to some slightly elevated BP readings. Imagine my relief when I realized I wasn’t having any urges to be with other men. Which makes me suspect that Vito might’ve been lying to Tony about that.

Many PA locals in June 1863 were conned by NY swindlers who sold them worthless papers and passwords to use on rebel raiders to protect them and their property.
I was also surprised by how much drinking was going on by both armies during the march north. If there was a distillery or barrel of whiskey or brandy hidden somewhere, these guys (north and south) would find it and pound it down. Highly recommend both volumes of this book.
