For RTs who work with metabolic carts, what do you look for in a good one?

I've been learning more about indirect calorimetry and metabolic carts, and I'm curious about the equipment side from people who actually use them in a clinical setting.

For those of you who work with metabolic carts, what are the things you care about most when choosing or using one? Is it mainly accuracy and reliability, or do things like calibration, ease of use, software, cleaning, maintenance, and how quickly you can get a test done matter just as much?

Also, are there certain features you wish your current system had that would make your job easier?

I'm especially interested in hearing from people who've used more than one system and can compare them.

How do you figure out how much battery storage you actually need?

I've been trying to understand battery storage better, and I'm realizing that just knowing a home's daily electricity usage doesn't seem like enough to determine the right battery size.

If someone wants solar primarily for backup during outages, how do you actually decide how much battery capacity they need?

Is the main thing looking at average daily kWh usage, or do you focus more on the specific things you want to keep running during an outage? And how much do things like cloudy weather or the length of a typical outage factor into the calculation?

I'm curious how people with solar and battery systems actually approached this when sizing their setup.

Has anyone compared their watch's VO₂ max to an actual test?

I've been getting more interested in VO₂ max lately and I'm curious how accurate people's watch estimates actually are.

If you've used a Garmin, Apple Watch, Fitbit, etc. and then had an actual VO₂ max test done, how close were the numbers?

I'm especially curious if anyone had a pretty big difference between the two. Did the lab test change how you trained or how you interpreted your watch's numbers?

I just had someone tell me Tom Holland is the worst Spider-Man...

And their reasoning was because he's not a very good actor. I strongly disagreed of course. Because if you've seen this scene in the image above you'll see how good of an actor Tom is. You can see in his face that his eye's are so sad because he knows he's saying goodbye to MJ, but he's also happy because she's getting a chance to live her dreams.
I think that's the main issue with Tom Holland's Spider-Man is that people don't think he can act.

What is a movie you wished was a tv show instead?

When it comes to movies, there are some stories that would be so much better if it was made into a tv show. When it's split up into episodes, often they can add more detail, have more creative liberty, and have the chance to continue the story even further then a movie could've gone.

What movie would you wish was made a tv show instead?

Is Marvel ever going to make a Hulk movie?

I've been rewatching all the Marvel movies in order and one thing I wish they did was make a new hulk movie. I never watched the Edward Norton ones but Marvel has done "backstory movies" for almost every single main character except him. Do they not have rights to the movie? Or is it just not important to the storyline?

Mystery book recs that get straight to the point

I'm a HUGE fan of mystery books but one of my biggest issues is when they take forever to get to the mystery/trying to solve the mystery.

One example is The Reappearance of Rachel Price. I feel like the characters didn't even try to start solving the mystery until halfway in the book. I loved Not Quite Dead Yet because the "murder" happened in the first or second chapter (those were both by Holly Jackson because they were just the most recent ones I could think of).

I also like when there is a romance subplot to keep things interesting.

If you have any recs like that PLEASE let me know!

How did they make the dialog so natural?

Wanted to start off by saying Sterling Point is one of my favorite tv shows now. I love all the characters, the storyline, and just everything about it. The main thing that made me fall in love with it though, was how natural the dialog felt. I am a (wannabe) actor and it icks me out when I watch a show or a movie and it just feels like script, even though it is. But with Sterling point it feels so real and like they are having a real conversation. So my questions is how were they able to accomplish that? They had filler words like "um" and "like" but they do that in other shows and it still feels scripted. I want to know how I can replicate how natural it felt as an aspiring actor myself. Let me know what you think!

Lynn Painter books are overrated?

I've read almost every single Lynn Painter book and don't get me wrong they are great books but my main issue is there isn't a ton of originality. What I mean by that isn't that her books are about the same thing, it's that her characters feel like the same people in each book. Lynn has lots of different tropes in her books but even just the dialog between the two characters feels sooo similar.

I just finished reading First and Forever and it was good but it also didn't feel very unique. I guess I can't ask that much from a YA romance book since they are practically all the same anyway, haha...

What are your thoughts on Lynn Painters books?

A new trailer for Avatar: Seven Havens just was released, what are your thoughts?

I want to start by saying I'm super excited to be getting more ATLA content. I LOVED the movie they released earlier so just the prospect of getting more is exciting. As for how I think the show is going to be...I don't have high hopes. First, I don't understand the new animation style and I don't think I like it ether. Second, I'm so confused what this story is even about. I'm sure they will explain how there is an Avatar after Korra but the trailer didn't give any insight as to what this show it even going to be about.

I remember seeing something on social media that the next show was going to be about a guy Earthbender and so I'm not sure how I feel about the main characters being two young twins. I do think they might play on the fact that they are twins and might both be Avatars (even though the trailer didn't hint to anything).

What are your thoughts on this upcoming show?

How did Peter stop mutating?

One thing that really confused me about BND is how Peter just suddenly stopped mutating. I know there is the whole scene where he's fighting The Hand and seems to be able to control his new strength, but how did that stop him from mutating? Was Peter accepting who he is and the fact that he can be Peter Parker and Spider-Man really the cure? Please let me know!
