Recreated A Roughly Accurate Era For Every Tech Level

Recreated A Roughly Accurate Era For Every Tech Level

I'm doing a playthrough where I start as a tribal then slowly progress through a bunch of different eras of technology that's loosely true to real life, and this is the rough outline for me to follow. From clubs to black powder to brass to laser. (Ignore the kitsunes and Driders and Skavens and other biotech xenotype such and such)

Mods are;

CE Black Powder Rifles (Manny edition)

Redcoats!

Helmet Hoarder Great War

[Foxhole x Rimworld] Persistent Warfare

Local's CE WW2 Guns

Faction Weapons and Apparel Set

[AB] Xenotype: Pillux

Big and Small - Genes & More

Xenotype Spawn Control

Vanilla Armour Expanded

And of course, Combat Extended

Now Probably One Of My New Favourite Mods

I got the "BF1 Kill Feedback" mod, and seeing the popup and hearing the kill sound is just so satisfying.

Bad guns, bad guns everywhere

I’ve been getting recommended this sub lately because I like TWD, and I can’t help but notice just how impractical some of the guns people would want to use on here if zombies showed up.

Edit: The comments on this just show how little people know about guns, especially the .22 and its hunting capabilities. As the saying goes, “Larp Larp Sahur”

The Big Spider, The Small Spider, and The Human. Pixel Art

I finally finished all different version of my spider people art, as well as an ordinary human colonist for a size comparison. I made an armoured version of the Dryder, as well as a clotheless version of the Stryder. Let me know what you all think.

Mods used are “Big and small genes and more” by redmattis, and "Beautiful Bodies" by ireth.

Ah yes, my one human "getting love" there and then.

The one human in the spider colony decided to get his love in right after a battle, next to where all the bodies are.

One of these colonists is not like the other

My militarized Stryder colony wound up with a single human after I forced the "man in black" event to happen, now he's forever surrounded by short, quiet spider people.

Pixel Art of the Dryder Xenotype I made with Biotech Mods

I got some race mods and decided to make a couple of new races that I thought would be pretty cool, this Dryder is one of them. Basically just a Xenotype of a forest, warrior race of incredibly jacked spider people. I plan to make some more art of this second spider person race I made, as well as a normal human colonist for a size comparison.

Mods used are “Big and small genes and more” by redmattis, and "Beautiful Bodies" by ireth.

WWI tactics would do wonders against the crossed

As a WWI history buff who had a fun time looking into the Crossed comics, I constantly think about how WWI tactics would do wonders in stopping crossed. The main defence that would halt crossed is not even guns or artillery, something that requires ammo which can be hard to find or reproduce, but rather barbed wire which would is easy to make and would likely have more than enough material needed in any hardware store, especially since survivors would likely be looking for food, weapons, wooden planks and other supplies like that rather than barbed wire during the early days of the crossed outbreak. Barbed wire is also one of the main defences that halted forces in WWI, as soldiers had to sneak across no man’s land at night to cut entrances in it or throw blankets over wire to climb over during the heat of battle or launch artillery at wire to bust holes in it, three tactics I doubt crossed would be able to plan and prepare for, let alone know to begin with. Scatter Czech hedgehogs around, a cheap anti tank measure to stop vehicles from bulldozing over the barbed wire and that solves crossed from just plowing over everything.

If tens of thousands of soldiers trained to deal with these defences, each equipped with rifles, helmets, bullets and bayonets, utilizing planning that is prepared with the exact minute of a given day to launch trench raids, backed by organized artillery, planes and tanks like the Mark V or FT17, failed to capture trenches then people infected with the crossed virus with little to no WWI knowledge, organized tactics, patience to cut fences at night, lack of military vehicles, or even uniform equipment just have no chance. The battle of the Somme lasted months, and on the first day around 60,000 Entente soldiers died attacking the German defences. 24 hours and that many soldiers prepared for that attack were lost. How would unorganized and poorly prepared crossed fair better, besides feeling no pain or fear?

When it come to flaws with the WWI trench defense plan, of course at the start of the outbreak when literal thousands of crossed converge on a position after infecting military personal and the non crossed military response has little time or information these defences would be hard to set up or defend, but a month to a year later when crossed maybe have a dozen to a hundred crossed gathered at once? Possible success. It’s also important to note that artillery was important for defending, being the most deadly weapon utilized in WWI and getting ahold of or even recreating it with scavenged materials would be difficult to say the least. Even with those cons, I’m pretty confident WWI defences would stall or even full on stop crossed hordes. No war crimes against them either, so poisonous gasses, napalm, fire, other unpleasant means are good to go.

In fact, you can even see similar WWI barbed wire defences work well in Wished You Were Here which had one of the best survivor groups in all of the crossed comics, able to repel damn near every attack, of course with a couple casualties each time.
