Best way to fill prescriptions if you live in two states?

In a situation now where I live in one state for about eight to nine months of the year, and another state for about 3-4. I’m on a prescription I need filled monthly and have been picking it up at my local cvs at my main residence. What’s the best way to get this prescription when I’m at the house I’m at for the shorter amount of time? Can I easily transfer back and forth from one cvs pharmacy to another? Or should I have my doctor call in a prescription to the new cvs pharmacy? Also, it’s not a controlled substance. Thanks in advance!

Addressing body odor

My mom (68) stinks. Her body and her breath both stink. She lives with me so I’m quite aware of the issue. I think its partly a hygiene problem.

Her breath is foul. I’m concerned she’s not brushing her teeth as often as she should, and I believe she really should be doing it three times a day with how absolutely horrific her breath can get. I can’t even remember when the last time was that she went to the dentist for an actual exam and cleaning. I have been getting on her about scheduling an appointment, even offered to do it for her.

Her body also stinks. It’s worse if she’s been outside gardening or of course if it’s been hot and she’s been sweating. She doesn’t shower everyday and I’m staring to think she might go up to four days without showering at times. Her feet in particular will literally stink up the whole room. Her bo is also different than it used to be, so I’m wondering if she’s literally started giving off the “old person smell”.

It’s gotten to the point where I not only don’t want to be near her, I don’t want to be in the same room with her. I’m concerned from a hygiene standpoint, as it’s just unsanitary and worrisome that she’s not taking care of herself. But I’m concerned from a health standpoint as well. I’m actually worried there may be a deeper underlying health issue going on that’s causing her body to have such foul odors.

Thing is, I just don’t know how to go about addressing this with her. I know she’s going to be offended and I want to be mindful of her feelings. How have other people approached this topic with their aging parents?

Anyone tried monolaurin?

Someone suggested monolaurin as a natural antimicrobial. It would be great to have something natural on hand in the case of infections or illness to try before resorting to regular antibiotics. I looked it up and it sounds promising. Has anyone tried this? Do you use it when you’re ill or all the time? Any insight appreciated!

Anyone see Stacey Hall as their dentist?

Currently looking for a new dentist and she looks promising. I like that she seems to have many years of experience, plus her practice emphasizes compassionate care. That’s one thing that’s sorely lacking with my current dentist. Another issue I’m having is my dentist is semi retired and I can never get in to see him, and I have a lot of work that needs to be done on my teeth. For people that see Dr. Hall, do you find you can usually get in with her in a timely manner? I’m also open to any other suggestions. Thanks!

Gum injury question

I went to a new dentist yesterday and the dental assistant did some bite wing X-rays. I have dental tori so it’s often a bit uncomfortable for me to get these but truly never been a huge issue. However this assistant had an incredibly difficult time with the X-rays. The whole experience was pretty brutal. I knew that I had a bad sore on the end of the tori on my bottom right, near my second molar on the tongue side. But I realized this morning that it’s not just a sore.

The gum in back of my second molar is not in good shape. It’s like it’s detached from the tooth. Instead of being firm it’s completely soft and squishy, very loose (like it’s easily moved back and forth if I touch it). It’s red and swollen and moderately painful but no blood. It honestly reminds me almost exactly of how my gums felt when I got my upper left second molar pulled.

I’m just not sure how serious (or not) this is? Is this an injury that will heal on its own? Will the gum become firm again and close back around the tooth? I do go back in on Tuesday but still would appreciate any insight. Thanks in advance.

Yes, you can have Sjögrens with negative labs. Here’s a great post about it

Here’s a post from Dr. Kara Wada, an immunologist with Sjögrens, about seronegative Sjögrens. https://www.drkarawada.com/post/seronegative-sjogrens-normal-labs-diagnosis?utm_source=email&utm_medium=email+marketing

I see so many people asking here if they could still have it even though their labs are normal. And sometimes their doctors have even told them that negative labs mean they don’t have it. The truth, backed by science and research, is an estimated 30-40% of people with Sjögrens are seronegative.

My last dentist severely traumatized me. He was rude and condescending. He gave the most painful injections I’ve ever had. One was so bad it caused blisters to break out on my gums. He left me with a severely compromised molar which has effected my bite and caused chronic pain.

I’m still dealing with the negative physical effects of what this guy did and the debilitating depression and anxiety it caused. I know I need to see another dentist to get some these issues corrected but I’m terrified.

Has anyone else had ptsd from dental work? How did you cope?

I see there are a number of these customized night guards on amazon, like Encore, Clear club, etc. The reviews seem mixed. Had anyone tried these? Or any other night guards you order yourself? I’m wondering how they compare to the super expensive ones from the dentist. The drugstore ones seem super cheap and waste if money, but if anyones had a good experience with one let me know.

Has anyone used a high fluoride toothpaste and actually noticed it strengthening or remineralizing their teeth? I’m using prevident and have been letting it sit on a tooth that had too much enamel removed by the dentist. I’m hoping it’ll help to strengthen what’s left.
