Unlikely combination - DaVinci Resolve on SteamOS desktop
Easy installation via DaVinci box

Easy installation via DaVinci box
Portage overlay has ebuilds for native installation but it's difficult and very fragile. Took me few days to resolve some dependencies manually and a system update broke it. I gave up on native installation.
Distrobox (Davinci box) just works and a system update shouldn't break it.
Hello,
Does anybody know why OBS studio is not available in stable branch?
I've tried to get some clues from bug reports but it's well beyond me.
I've got it unmasked so that's fine but I'm trying to understand the reason why OBS never was (or was it?) in stable branch.
Any ideas or guesses?

I’m just salty. I went to a recycling centre where there is a mini roundabout nearby. Felt like most of the neighbourhood was turning right on it without an indication and some drivers were looking angry at me for trying to go straight. I was assuming people are also going straight coming from the opposite side without indicating.
I very rarely get salty when driving.
Very easy to miss due to popular one shot cheese tactic for this fight. This dialog is still one of the best I’ve seen in video games. Full conversation:
Ramza: How miserable you are... Giving your spirit to Lucavi just to avenge yourself. If Miluda knew about this, she'd be very disappointed.
Wiegraf: Revenge? Ha! That's not what I'm after.... I want far more than that. I don't give a damn about Miluda's murder. I want to bring 'chaos' into the world...to hear the screams of humans... But, don't worry, Ramza, I'll kill you....myself.
Ramza: The stones are evil...and so are the Zodiac Braves. The legends we believed in were all lies!
Wiegraf: Hya, ha, ha. So much for 'God's miracle'. Governments falsify history only so it favors them. But you can't blame them. Because people always hope for a 'miracle'. Endlessly complaining, lazy, nuisances... that's what the masses really are. Governments give the people what they want...and history
repeats itself. Governments might well have taken advantage of their insecurity....
But then again, people are satisfied
being used... 'God' is nothing but an image created out of their insecurity.
It's their fault for knowing they're
comfortably numb, and not doing anything about it.
Ramza: And what about you? Relying on miracles instead of beating your insecurities!
Wiegraf: It's because humans are insecure that they rely on 'miracles'. Can you honestly say you're not, with any confidence?
Ramza: I'm trying!

Hi,
I’ve thought that VRR always sets 60Hz for 60fps content but it seems that some monitors, especially high refresh ones, can double or even triple Hz to fps ratio. That FPS to Hz ratio is not always 1:1 but can be at least 1:2 and maybe higher.
I’m aware of LFC where 30fps content triggers VRR to set monitor to 60Hz or 90Hz but I’m talking about multiplying Hz within VRR range.
So, does anybody here have a monitor that adjusts to 120Hz for 60fps content?
Why some people prefer to turn VRR off?
They claim it's smoother, no flicker, VRR makes their eyes tired.
I've met few people in a short period of time who prefer fixed refresh rate.
Is it different on different monitors? Because I LOVE it.
I see improvements only. No downsides.
I'm exploring an idea to use Discover with flatpaks support to easily and cleanly install and uninstall some apps that are not available in main repository (Mango Juice, ProtonPlus, OneShot, etc).
But why the hell it wants to downgrade my mesa?
Is Discover a bad idea on Gentoo?
EDIT: Thank you for the answers.
Mesa from Discover is separate from the main system and only affects conteinarised flatpaks.
Hi,
I’ve recently heard about apt-build project. A tool that can help with compilation from source.
Does anybody know if the project is still supported?
The project sounds amazing but I’m not sure if still supported and well.
Trying to find out if it's even possible.
How to ask Linux to give me a specific number?
Is it 4:4:4/RGB? Or maybe 4:2:2 or 4:2:0.
Is there an easy way (a command or a simple app) to check chroma?
I've tried the rtings.com test where you compare screenshots and it looks almost like 4:4:4 but not quite. But it looks much, much better than lower settings. So, I want Linux to just tell me the number. 😄
