Don’t be the asshole and ruin access for others

On 7/30/26, I was up on Rollins Pass and saw that someone cut down a tree to get beyond the barricade for Jenny Lake. I have sent the photos to the Boulder Ranger District office and they told me they would have FS LEOs look into it because it was not them. Hopefully they have a trail cam up in the area. If you see people doing this, report them. Also it’s only a few hundred feet walk to Jenny Lake from the main trail.

This is how we lose access… (Rollins Pass East)

Someone cut down a tree to get by the barricade for the Jenny Lake Trailhead. It’s not that far of a hike. Probably less than 1/10th of mile.

Update: Sent the photos to the Boulder Ranger District office and they confirmed that it was not the FS that did this and they’ll look into it. Not sure if they have a trail cam up in the area.

Heads Up: Flock Camera not Pointed towards Baseline

Instead towards the East side of Ozinuka Hall and the green space to the east.

My Epileptic Lab Swam for the First Time in Two Years

So August of 2024 she had her first seizure, has been seizure free for more than a year. Was afraid to take her swimming again but found a rehab center that has private swim time. Next time I will take her sister with her. Just so happy she has passed this major milestone.

Dog Swimming

So normally I’d take my dogs up to alpine lakes in the summer but my lab is turning 8 on Thursday. She absolutely loves swimming more than anything. Her first few years of life she got to swim in Flathead Lake in MT. Wondering if Coot or Twin Lakes are still good for dog swimming? Feel like Coot will be full but not sure on Twin Lakes. Also want to try to avoid any lake that has an algae problem. Always felt like Coot held out on getting algae than other lakes. Thank you in advance.

[Matt Zenitz] Colorado is expected to hire Xavier Adibi as part of its defensive staff, sources tell @CBSSports. The ex-NFL linebacker worked at Virginia Tech the last four seasons, including as inside linebackers coach last year. Was previously a defensive coordinator at Texas A&M-Commerce

Laramie River Valley Rd and Jelm Mountain

Pretty day in the Laramie River Valley. Also went up to the University of Wyoming’s observatory on Jelm Mountain just north of the Colorado border. Roads are easy. Laramie River Valley Rd is just maintained dirt and Jelm is just steepish washboard.

To the asshole who yelled at me this morning for mercy killing a rabbit near flatirons golf course

I’m sure I disliked putting that bunny out of its misery much more than you disliked choosing to watch me do it before yelling at me, including threatening to call the cops. The last thing I want to see is an animal suffering and no one should be yelled at for trying to do the right thing in this situation.

For context: believe a hawk or another bird of prey had dropped the rabbit from some height and the rabbit had suffered a broken back and some internal trauma. Could see the back was messed up and blood had been coming from its nose and ears. Only movement was its breathing and heart racing. I happen to live by so got a shovel and “finished” it off. Would have much rather used my 22 but didn’t think that would have been appropriate or legal within city limits.

Add on: I put the rabbit in some open space that I know has some coyotes in. Figured at least they’ll get a free meal out of it.

Mallards in a tree along centennial trail

Well gotta say this is a first for me. Didn’t think they could be in trees because of their webbed feet.
