Where resources should westerners use to learn about Israel, Israeli domestic issues and present/past conflicts?

I was reminded a while ago of this talking point Hillary Clinton often uses (and I like Clinton, she’s just the one I remember using this): “young people get their news from tik tok. Ask them which river and which sea, and they don’t know.”

Well, what would you recommend these young people seek out? News networks, journalistic outlets, individual/independent journalists, academics, scholars, documentarians, human rights/activist groups, etc?

“Young people get their news from TikTok that’s why they hate Israel”… is that why?

There’s this talking point that Hillary Clinton has used a few times (and I like Clinton generally, I just thought this one was dumb) that goes “young people get their news from TikTok that’s why they hate Israel”

Sure. Short form video leaves much to be desired.

But where in the world of reputable journalism, long form documentaries, academic works etc… do you find information that paints Israel in a positive light?

Whether im watching tiktok (again, bad), or reading a hundred page Btselem report, the only responsible conclusion is one that is highly critical of Israel.

How do Israelis feel about the NYC Israel Day Parade?

It’s been in the news lately and wondered if Israelis actually care.

The Israeli delegation includes such luminaries as… Belazel Smotrich, Ofir Sofer, Amichai Eliyahu, Yitzhak Wasserlauf, and I think Danny Danon. So 90% far right guys. Ben-Gvir is (I assume) persona non grata after his last appearance in nyc ended in a riot.

Is this a treat for them? A profile-raising event for their fans in Israel?

If the Bennett-Lapid coalition government had held on for at least one more year, where might we be today? How would they have responded to 10/7 vs how Bibi did?

I was watching the PBS news hour interview with Danny Danon, Israel’s ambassador to the UN (starts around 9 minutes into the video at https://youtu.be/l2-PSI5DTu8?si=gULZZIXDrY5k66VG) In less than three minutes he is reduced to making personal accusations against the interviewer for asking him a question.

The impression it leaves, as an American viewer is strongly negative. He had no answer for a question he should’ve been prepared for, tried to act outraged (not well) and all but admitted he couldn’t answer the question. Do these officials not get any media training, or is this performance for domestic consumption?

For context, PBS news hour is the driest and most factual/unbiased news show in the United States. It’s not very popular, because it is boring, features sometimes-lengthy interviews, and doesn’t care about being entertaining. The idea that the hosts are racist is absurd.
