New Eagle Questionaire?

Hi everyone,

So, I am a new student here at American University (Class of 2030) and was recently checking over all the tasks in checklist when I saw the New Eagle Questionaire was marked as overdue. I am confident I submitted this questionaire, but since it is required we complete it for New Student Orientation, I messaged the AU help desk to see if there was some way I could check to make certain that this task is complete. In response, I was told that I should be able to check off this task and the issue was marked as resolved.

Is there any way to know for certain whether or not this was submitted? Or at least, if I know I submitted it, to make sure that it's been officially recorded I did?

Offering script free for DSA or Democratic Party to use

This script is completely free. If anyone from DSA or main Democratic party is here who works in a role of importance or even if you just work for those parties, take this script. Yes, I made it and will assume rightful legal credit as the original creator if that ever happens to be important or an issue somehow. BUT- I do not need fame. Just take the script and use it to do some good. Or adapt it. Or tell me how to adapt it. Just do something with it that will help people wake up to see the realities of this insanity.

SCRIPT IS BELOW:

*Inspired by poster from DSA.

Opening scene. We see two kids (probably 12-13) at the home of their grandfather. A fairly old man, but still happy to see his grandson and granddaughter.

GRANDPA/ICE AGENT: It's so good to see you two! You've grown so much!

We see everyone laughing, having fun. The kids' parents are there. It's a family event. We see the kids bonding with their grandfather- playing games, watching old films, etc. We see time passing as the kids are now looking at some boxes.

GRANDSON: Grandpa, why do you have so many boxes?

GRANDPA/ICE AGENT: Well, son- I just haven't had the time to get organized.

GRANDDAUGHTER: Why don't we put this stuff in the attic? We could help-

GRANDPA: NO! (his grandkids look surprised)

GRANDSON: Is. . .everything alright, Grandpa?

GRANDPA/ICE AGENT: Yes. Yes, it's fine. Just. . .don't go in the attic. Ok?

GRANDSON and GRANDDAUGHTER: Ok, grandpa.

Later at night, we see the two of them sneaking into the attic. They're kids, they are curious.

GRANDSON: Wow! Look at all this stuff! (He admires some LEGO boxes). No wonder Grandpa didn't want us up here. This must be where he keeps all his presents for us.

GRANDDAUGHTER, using flashlight app on her phone: What. . .is that? (We see her light shining on a locked box, with the words ICE written on it).

GRANDSON: It says. . .ICE?

GRANDDAUGHTER: Why would he have something like that? Everyone knows that ICE was bad.

GRANDSON: Maybe it's just old stuff. You remember what the teachers said in history class last week? How after the Trump regime, everyone had to document the history of what happened so it couldn't happen again? Grandpa had a government job. He probably just needed this as training or something. Anyways, why don't we take a look inside?

GRANDDAUGHTER: He wouldn't want us going through his things.

GRANDSON: It's 2076. It's been years since the days of ICE. All this stuff is probably - (he opens the box and freezes).

GRANDDAUGHTER: What is it- (she gasps. In the box is an ICE badge and uniform. Paychecks listing their grandfather's job at ICE. A photo of young GRANDPA in ICE uniform, smiling outside Alligator Alcatraz. Another of him at Dilley Detention Center).

GRANDSON: Grandpa. . .worked for ICE?

The two of them walk out, carrying the box. They run into GRANDPA, who is getting food from a fridge- they try to sneak away, but the box slips- it is metal, and makes a clattering noise. Everyone wakes up.

MOM: What are you two doing?

We see Grandpa walking over to the kids, and seeing his badge. His face turns pale.

GRANDPA: How did you find this?

GRANDSON: Did you work for ICE?

DAD, grogiliy: Who worked for ICE?

GRANDDAUGHTER: Grandpa. In the attic. There's a box of things from ICE.

MOM: Dad? What are they talking about-

GRANDPA/ICE AGENT: Sit down. All of you (everyone goes into a living room to sit on a sofa. It's a while before anyone speaks).

GRANDPA: You two weren't meant to find that. But now that you have, you should know what happened. I was a young man then. Nobody would hire me. ICE was something. . .different. I had a role to play.

GRANDSON: But your role. . .we learned about this last week in school, before the break. Our teacher said ICE agents hurt people.

GRANDPA/ICE AGENTS: Look, you have to understand. We were dealing with people who broke the law. They came into the country illegally. They had to face the consequences.

GRANDDAUGHTER: What about Renee Good, or Alex Pretti, or Johan Sebastián Durán Guerrero? They were still here legally. Why did ICE shoot them, grandpa?

GRANDPA: Well. . .we never knew if they were resisting arrest. They probably posed a threat-

DAD: Probably? How could they probably pose a threat?

GRANDPA: We didn't know-

GRANDDAUGHTER: What about the abuse?

GRANDPA: What abuse?

GRANDDAUGHTER: The abuse of kids. We learned in our new textbook that ICE was found to be sexually abusing children. In this place (she takes out the photo of GRANDPA around Aligator Alcatraz), people couldn't sleep. The lights were on all the time. And in here (she shows Dilley photo) people were eating food with worms.

GRANDPA: Those people weren't real Americans. They were threats to our country. You weren't there. They were -

MOM: Dangerous? How dangerous could children be, Dad? Is this where you were working late all those nights? Working in these places, brutalizing some other family before you came back home?

GRANDPA: You have no idea what it was like. With a job as an ICE agent, I could make more than your teachers. I did make more. I had money to support my family during a time when if you weren't a billionaire, you couldn't afford healthcare. With that money, you and your siblings could get a college education. Get good jobs. Buy a nice house in a good neighborhood. Even pay for your wedding.

GRANDSON: But what you did. . .was it right?

END.

Serious question

Would anyone be interested in watching a Minecraft blender animation of someone crashing a ship through the wall of a fortress under siege?

Only context I give is that there is a very large Illager army who is doing a siege which likes to use TNT.

Also, this would be part of a show that leans heavily into the idea of Illagers being transformed beings.

(Quick note: I'm a solo creator and am starting Blender for the first time- I am going to make some Minecraft videos)

Advice on what kind of software you download

Hi everyone,

I hope you are doing well. I know the issue of software you download is more of a staff-related thing probably, and I might not be the best person to advise on this matter, but I do have some advice for all my fellow Class of 2030 students, especially those who might be using Macbooks (I hear it is a common choice of computer for some majors).

For the sake of ensuring your devices are not overloaded with space, please avoid downloading apps like Epic Games. I know that it can be tempting, whether you downloaded it to play your favorite videogames or, like me, downloaded it to gain access to Unreal Engine for game design or other pursuits. You will have to give up at least 200 GB of space just to keep it. On a standard Macbook, that's a lot and even if you have a computer with more space, 200 GB is A LOT of storage space just for one app launcher.

For those of you who are now seeing you have 200+ GB in "Other Users and Shared Data" or something similar in your storage space on settings, this is why.

Advice on Unity vs. Unreal Engine?

For those who have far more experience than me:

Would you say Unreal Engine or Unity is better to use when making an open world video game?

Any feedback is much appreciated.

Thank you

Thank you everyone for making this. This is great. Never really gotten to interact with fellow Rings of Power fans and just had to deal with Tolkien purists and such. So anyways- thank you, and Season 3 looks AWESOME!! (heard teaser coming Saturday)

National Strike?

In response to the horrific murder of a father in front of his 3-year old by ICE, the American people and Democrats in particular must stand up. We cannot continue this system. It is not sustainable. It is cruel. It rewards people who don't hesitate to shoot a man through the head with his child in the car.

The American people must bring the machinery of the regime orchestrating this to a halt. This should involve protesting around ICE concentration camps, refusing to work (i.e going on strike in solidarity with those suffering), flooding D.C and the White House in particular with protestors on the White House lawn, lying down or otherwise blocking the flow of aircraft and other traffic THROUGH PEACEFUL MEANS and overall, ensuring that the government cannot smoothly function so it cannot allow for another ICE shooting.

To be clear here: this is NOT a call to take violent action against the government, or to overthrow the government in any way. Rather, it is my opinion that we should do what we can PEACEFULLY to stop this current government from being able to continue functioning, and the way to do this should be through nationwide strikes. Yet, protest as well outside Democratic areas too- there are plenty of Democratic politicians who today, will condemn this murder- but yesterday, had absolutely no problem writing eulogies for Lindsey Graham, a man who cheered acts like this on. So, it is my belief that the American people must engage in non-cooperation through peaceful protest, and NOT try to engage in violence but make your voice heard and stand up against the regime that would send masked men to shoot a father in front of his 3 year old child. Why can we not have our Democratic leaders calling for more action? We should do something to stop this system, it's not benefitting anyone but a few people in power.

Complete the Flight Ready! Pre-Orientation Canvas Course page

Hi everyone, hope you are doing well. As an incoming student, I saw in the Undegraduate Student Checklist we have to complete the Flight Ready Canvas Course. However, when I click on the page it is taking me to a non-existent site. Are any other incoming undergraduate students seeing this page when they click the "Learn More" button on the task marked "Complete the Flight Ready! Pre-Orientation Canvas Course"?

Nuremberg style trials for all those who aided and supported the Trump Regime?

Just as a serious question:

How many people here would support the trial of ICE (there is a list of ICE agents, including the ones who did shootings available online), Republican officials supporting Trump, corporate leaders (Musk, Bezos, Bari Weiss, The Ellison family, etc) supporting Trump, and the top figures of the Trump regime - taking place directly after this regime is over? This is not calling for violence or for vigilantism, but seriously- should we have a Nuremberg style trial of everyone who aided and supported this regime which has just shot a dad in front of his three year old daughter, yes or no?

Questions?

Hi everyone, I hope you are doing well. I recently decided to make a video game, set in a unique fantasy world (ten races to choose from are Western Humans, Eastern Humans, Elves (can select spawn point alongside eastern forests or western sea coast), Dark Elves, Dwarves, Halflings, Trolls, Orcs, Minotaurs, and Fire Demons). Has anyone attempted something like this before, and if so; how did you set up the map? I have used the terrain feature and am working on creating a starting region for the Fire Demon race (they basically live on flaming islands surrounded by lava but have some kind of civilization and do have many towers as homes). However, I would like this to be an open world map, but am not sure how the distance for that is calculated. This is what I have completed so far.

Laptop for CLEG Major considering Political Science

Hi everyone,

I hope you are doing well. I was looking through the laptops for this fall, and was wondering what laptops anyone majoring in CLEG (Communications, Law, Economics, Government) who might also want to major in Political Science were using or have already used. It was reccomended that I speak to my academic advisor, but she is going to be out of office for roughly the next two weeks, and I also contacted School of Public Affairs but haven't heard anything back. What laptop is best for a student in CLEG, Political Science, and just overall in School of Public Affairs to have?

Questions regarding a show

Hi everyone,

I hope you are doing well. Some of you might've seen the script opening I posted around two weeks ago for a show. Would anyone be interested in continuing to read the scripts? I have four episodes done, and am starting a fifth episode (my plan is to have eight episodes).

One disclaimer though:

If you have a problem with illagers being portrayed in a less absolutely-evil manner, people overcoming discrimination and prejudice to work together for a common goal, Alex being a protagonist along with Steve and other characters, and illagers enslaving villagers, this show is probably not for you. Also, if you don't like extensive fight scenes where illagers and villagers finally will end up going to war, the concept of good people developing prejudice as a result of war, nitwit villagers forming rebel cells and being fanatics for an evil overlord, massive ecological destruction, and betrayals, deaths, emotions among illagers, and manipulation- this is not for you.

If, however, you have no problem with people working together despite very different cultures, illagers having a sort of culture and goals beyond just raiding, Alex and Steve having different yet powerful roles, players not being the center of attention in a story, prejudiced people gradually overcoming their hatred to stand against a common enemy, people who are thought of as good being shown as vulnerable to extreme prejudice caused by war and societal views, and illagers launching a massive war campaign, along with a villain who won't be revealed until the final episode- you might like this.

Please let me know what you think in the comments below.

Advice on art and if it disrespects anyone’s culture

Hi everyone, I hope you are doing well.

I’m an artist (in free time) and am currently working on designing some models of Orcs for the North for a video game project. I am working on making some art for facial paint, and would like to confirm that this art isn’t disrespecting anyone’s culture. It is tattoo art, meant to be sort of tribal-like, and is a work in progress so it can be changed as needed.

Proposal for a show

How much do you think Mojang would pay for this to replace the Minecraft Movie sequel? (everything here is copyrighted to my brand, Scripts, which I - Akshay Pertab- am the founder of and am considering growing)

ALEX (Narrating): Not many live now, who remember what the world once was.

Clips are shown of the modern Overworld.

ALEX: All they can see. . .

We see suffering; crops dying, villagers struggling, players fighting off undead mobs (skeletons) and being shot so that they fall off a cliff into an abyss.

ALEX: Is darkness.

We see night coming, and hostile mobs beginning to spawn.

ALEX: But before everything. . .

We see a shift across the water, meant to show location moving.

ALEX: There was LIGHT.

We see Silveria’s shores, pristine coastlines filled with technologically-advanced housing. Huge coastal cities line the region, with beauties like coral embedded into the sides to form amazing architecture. Everyone here is a player, like Alex.

ALEX: Even then, though, I had questions.

Alex looks to Lyris - a player who, unlike her, has bright green hair laid back in a ponytail and carries a sword. This is another day though, as her friend looks battle-hardened. Lyris, Alex, and a group of both male and female players (in total, around six people) are gathered around a table, with Alex clearly the youngest.

ALEX: Have you heard about Greifus? I heard he burned down someone’s house, and fled across the sea! Everyone was furious-

Lyris stands up, along with the rest of her friends. They are clearly upset.

LYRIS: NEVER speak of him! He brings nothing but suffering! He will ruin this world.

ALEX: What could he possibly do? He’s only ONE player. ONE! He doesn’t even have an army!

At this, all her friends exchange worried looks.

ALEX, concerned: He DOESN’T have an army. . .right?

LYRIS, her expression now grave: There are rumors.

ALEX: Rumors of what?

MIKE: Of corruption. Of people being twisted -

LYRIS: ENOUGH!

Mike and Alex both move back in shock.

LYRIS, now kinder: She is too young. [To Alex] You can stay here for now. That’s what we warriors are for. Someday, we can go to this. . .Overworld. It’s where Greifus might be hiding. Don’t worry, little one.

ALEX, narrating: My friends, I learned, were too right. Greifus had gone beyond the status of any mere player. He claimed lordship over the world. And as they suspected. . .he fled to the Overworld across the sea, but not after destroying all he could before.

Alex and her friends, along with others, look in horror at a once-proud city, the capital of their land, being completely ruined. It’s clearly been exploded with TNT, and lava spews out of the ruins, turning it into a massive crater. The lights of the city are destroyed. The banner of Greifus- a burning sword - is planted over the remains of what was once a great tower.

ALEX: So when the time came to fight. . .

We see Lyris, Mike, and the rest of Alex’s friends putting on armor alongside a great force of players, all adorned with weapons. Alex boards a seperate boat, as her friends wave back from theirs.

ALEX: We answered the call.

Lyris and the rest of Alex’s friends are shown leading a group of players against a group of Greifus’s forces, all with his banner. The host they face contains some drowned, skeletons, and husks, but the core backbone of his forces are illagers.

LYRIS: Keep fighting! They will die, by the light of the Creator!

In vain, we see Lyris and her friends and comrades- mainly players, along with some villagers now- desperately fighting, shooting arrows and hacking at foes. Though, we see players and villagers falling, many shot with arrows, as the illager forces push them back further and further into what we see is the center of the valley; various airships bearing Greifus’s flag are shown bombarding the battlefield with TNT, killing both Greifus’s enemies and several legions of illager troops.

ALEX: In the end, Greifus was finally vanquished.

We see droplets of water falling during another battle, this time near the coasts, and Greifus- leading this attack himself - looks up in surprise.

ALEX: Yet the cost of our victory. . .was little better than a defeat.

We see the droplets of water intensifying, and growing in size as they glow, along with the waves. The water now rises up higher, smashing through Greifus’s fleet. . .and smashing down further on the coastline, seemingly guided by a divine force. In an instant, whole camps Greifus established are destroyed, but the land begins to tear until a whole chunk of the Overworld is submerged. Greifus’s forces flee, and he tries to escape. . .but stumbles, and is swept underwater by the waves, which are now capsizing many boats for both his own forces and his enemies. He is shown screaming as the very sea life surround him, with glow squid pulling him under and his drowned allies being shot down by his enemies; he is clearly gone, and in a snapshot is shown screaming as he - still soaking wet - is imprisoned on an island in the Void.

ALEX: His undead forces had returned to their old ways, mindless once more, but his illagers had spread across the Overworld.

We see pillager outposts forming, while illagers are shown marching into a woodland forest and forming a mansion.

ALEX: They multiplied more than we could count, growing ever stronger under his most devoted servant. A powerful enchanter, who aimed to reestablish himself as the Overworld’s new ruler. Few spoke of him. But those who did knew him by one name. . .

Music intensifies, as we see the shadow of a figure with a crown and trident in one hand, the other hand with a sword. Illagers surround him, but they are clearly in fear.

ALEX: Valkorian.

ALEX: My friends took an oath to vanquish him for good.

ALEX (talking with her friends, underneath a forest. This is home to a rudimentary camp of theirs, which based on the banners nearby, is housing troops who had previously fought Greifus’s armies. Alex herself is armored, and is battle-hardened, a bit more tempered than before): I should join you for this. I have experience.

LYRIS: No, Alex. This isn’t safe -

ALEX: Not safe? I’m the bane of Illagers! Haven’t you heard? In the last battle, I took down a whole legion (she is growing a bit eager. . .too eager for someone who just fought a whole battle)-

We see Mike and Lyris both looking at each other in concern, hearing their friend talk a bit too eager about death.

MIKE: Lyris is right, Alex. You aren’t the bane of illagers. You’re our friend. And as our friend, you need to sit this out.

ALEX: But I can fight -

LYRIS (sternly): This is over, Alex. You aren’t coming. It’s settled.

She sees Alex is disappointed.

LYRIS: Hey. Look at me, Alex. We’re coming back. And when we do, we’ll tell you all about how we defeated Valkorian. In the meantime, wait here for us, alright? We’ll be back soon.

She smiles, along with Mike and the others, who say their goodbyes and set out. Alex looks at them, both with worry and fear.

ALEX: As always, they were right. They did come back.

We see Alex stepping out of a house, as shouts are heard and horses are shown galloping.

ALEX: Just not how I wanted.

We see Lyris, Mike, and the rest of her friends in a forest. Vines shoot up, and Lyris and Mike both draw their swords- cutting the vines, they watch the vines reform into Valkorian’s banner, which has a crossed sword and trident on it. In fear, they turn around- but too late, as we see a shadow and a trident flying through the air. Enchanted, it strikes Lyris, who is chained and pierced. Mike steps up to fight and protect the rest- but a flurry of spears shoot forth, killing him and he and the others fall, one by one, as Valkorian (we see his shadow) steps over them and puts his banner atop their bodies- a trident and sword crossed.

Now, in the present, riders are shown carrying the bodies of Lyris, Mike, and the rest of Alex’s friends- all of whom are clearly dead. They carry them inside a house, as we see Alex crumpling to the ground in grief and shock.

Alex, in tears, is shown looking at her former friends who are now resting on long wooden boards.

ALEX: And that night. . .

Alex goes around each one of her friends, collecting their weapons. She looks at Lyris, her oldest friend, and pulls the sword from her friend’s sheath, looking at the blade.

ALEX: Their oath became mine.

Timestamp: 1000 years later.

The Islands of Darkness, in the North Sea.

We see Alex, now leading a company of around 20 players, sailing on a ship towards the main island. A captain, Dragnor, comes up to speak with her.

DRAGNOR: Commander Alex. The crew is. . .concerned.

ALEX: Concerned?

DRAGNOR: It has been centuries since the fall of Greifus. His undead troops are scaterred and returned to what they once were. The villagers who served him willingly are under oversight. Nobody has seen illager war parties for generations. Is it possible. . .that our enemy is no longer a concern?

ALEX: Valkorian is still out there -

DRAGNOR: Valkorian is dead. He must be -

ALEX (coldly): We’ll talk later. Let’s search. This is where scouts last spotted ships with Greifus’s banner

DRAGNOR: Scouts from old logs, written ages ago -

At this point, thunder cracks, and we see the outline of a tower. As our characters sail closer, we see it’s ancient, once made of stone now infested with moss. The entire tower looks ruined.

Alex, along with Dragnor and other troops, make their way inside.

DRAGNOR (searching): Commander Alex -

ALEX: I see it.

We see what our characters are looking at. Massive enchanting tables, with drop piles of illagers all around them. Cells line the walls, with illager drop piles inside them as well. A drop of rain falls through the ceiling, hitting a magma vein that glows.

ALEX (pulling out a flask of water, she drops it on the magma, revealing it forms an old pattern- the trident and sword, both crossed again): Valkorian. He was here.

From behind Alex, we see Dragnor twitching, along with the rest of Alex’s forces. She doesn’t see this, but they seem. . .different.

DRAGNOR (drawing his sword): He is everywhere.

Alex turns around, hearing him drawing the sword.

ALEX: Dragnor? What -

We see the magma structure glowing again, and as it glows orange, a similar light glows in Dragnor’s eyes as he and the rest of Alex’s company draw their weapons. Alex draws her weapons; she sees something is clearly wrong.

ALEX: Dragnor. Lay down your weapons. This isn’t you -

DRAGNOR: There is no more Dragnor. There is only Valkorian. There is only one true ruler of the Overworld (He rushes at Alex, who draws two swords; running alongside the side of the wall, she cuts his sword in half but he pulls out a spear. Her company encircles her, charging but she knocks them back into walls. Dragnor spins his spear, deflecting all her blows- but suddenly, as she moves to cut his spear, his eyes return to normal along with the rest of her company; and they collapse to the ground, disappearing as they die and leave behind drop piles. The symbol of Valkorian glows again, as she looks at her fallen comrades in horror.
