No idea what I planted

I started working on my front garden in the summer of 2024. It started as a simple round flower bed to disguise or incorporate the stump the previous owners left in the middle of the yard. Once that was done, it looked too small for the size of the front yard so I added "petals" to the original circle which then looked like they needed complementary petals and this thing grew and it's taking more than half of the yard now. The problem is that in the pursuit of simetry and balance (yes, I'm neurospicy), I planted some for the height/style and over the last 2 years some of the tags disappeared so now I can't figure out what they are. My son has as able to find out a few using Seek but this one is stumping even him. Any help is appreciated.

Native fast growing tree

Even though my backyard is large, the living and kitchen areas of our neighbours to the back face our bedrooms and due to the grading, I feel like I'm in a fishbowl particularly at night when the lights are on. I'm looking for fast growing native species to help create some privacy as well as some shelter for our bird visitors. We have lots of feeders and the small birds need some shelter from the Merlins and Swainsons haks that come around.

Any advice is very appreciated.

Tail question

I know some Aussies are born with the short tail. Is there a difference in size or a way to know if an Aussie's tail was cut or if they were born with the shorter tail?

Native plants nursery in Calgary

Looking for a nursery in Calgary that carries a variety of native plants. Bushes, trees, pollinator friendly flowers, and bird favorites for a birds/insects have backyard project.

I found a few flowering options at Blue Grass but need more bushes/trees.

Canadian Gelato

A couple of weeks ago, I was in Vancouver and my son went to the grocery store across the street for ice-cream and came back with a couple of jars of Righteous Gelato.

It was the first time we had ever heard of it so I look for the maple leaf on the jar and I'm pleasantly surprised to find not only it's made in Canada but also made in Calgary, very close to home.

Now back in Calgary, I stopped at a Walmart and found two flavours. On the website they have a lot of cool flavours. Looking forward to trying them all.

The Mango Pineapple is to die for.

Mosquito repellent stain

Went for a hike and sprayed repellent to keep the bugs away and then later noticed oily stains on my clothes. Is there a specific way to wash these so they don't become permanent?

Cone flower not surviving the winter

I have a very full sun front yard with West exposure and for the last 2 years I have been trying to get cone flowers to survive to no avail. I tried the Strawberry and Raspberry species, I've also tried some I can't recall the name but they never come back after the winter. Same with my lavender. I was under the impression they were hardy. What am I doing wrong?

Best bird bath material

Looking for guidance on selecting the best material /type of bird bath to install in the backyard. Looking for a 4 season setup that can withstand Western Canada's winter (Calgary). All of the ones I've seen so far are some sort of concrete and fiber mix that explicitly states cannot be exposed to cold.

I would like to be able to add a heater to the winter months and a fountain during the summer so a bit of depth may be needed.

Any help is appreciated.

Oh, and we cater to all sorts of bird sizes from very large crows to chickadees.

Costco bulbs

Are we able to plant the Costco bulbs now? I saw a bunch of bags out but I don't want to get them now if I can only plant them in the fall.

Tide clean and gentle powder

I've been trying to find the powder version but have not been able to. Where is everyone finding it? I'm in western Canada. The last I tried was Amazon but it was ridiculously expensive.

I apologize in advance if this is not the right place or pertinent but I thought to share my question/concern and see if I'm on the wrong track.

Since last year I have been super careful to read labels and ensure I'm spending my money on Canadian made products and Canadian grown foods.

Then the other day, my son and I were out birding in the Foothills (Calgary) and I realized many farmers (particularly cattle farms) were waving only the AB flag which signals separatist around here.

With all this separatist talk going around, and that they are being financed by the same machine behind the 51st state BS, I wonder if there's any way to ensure I'm not supporting local farmers bent on destroying the Country.

I would love to know that my vegetables, fruits and particularly beef are coming from Canadian farmers who build and support our Country.
