Just bought a guitar, wow this thing is tiny lol

Been playing bass for half a year or so, and just jumped on a cheap guitar. I use normal EB stainless Slinkys on my Jazz, and really like the feel of playing bass overall.

I'm sure I'm just used to bass, but playing guitar is kinda brutal. The strings remind me of fishing line, the spacing is tiny, and the whole thing just feels small. It sounds good, and I definitely see how bass knowledge translates to guitar, but wow the difference is bigger than expected!

Guitar Center score, $199 🙊

I dug this 2003 AXD71 out of the deepest depths of the Guitar Center used listings. It is basically perfect aside from needing a proper cleaning, so that's step one. Step two might be new electronics, but right now I just wanna hear it. Cream binding, block inlays, how could I not buy this?

Uh oh, just got serious? 🍊

Trolling the interwebs paid off

🎵I got the box🎶

Edit,: these pots feel like they're full of old molasses, any tips to clean/refurb? Or, is that normal?

Wanna replace ACH1 and ACH2, best options?

I am waiting on an old AXD71, so two pots, a switch, and typical ACH1 and 2. I am going to rehab it, and would like to upgrade it, so better pickups, a 4 or 5-way switch, and a complete wiring upgrade is what I'm thinking.

I've tried to research, but I want to make sure everything fits. I am willing to drill a hole for another switch or pot, but stacked knobs are preferred. Any thoughts?

When your shoegaze is from 2026 🌚

I have loved Silversun Pickups since \*Carnavas\*, and this new album is an 8/10. It has a lot of early Pumpkins feels, and I like all but the "single" on side 2.

It's really good. It just sounds good.

Roast my first setup, Fender PJ

After rearranging and messing with settings, I am really liking this order.

Guitar -> Fat Rat -> Centavo -> Bass Fuzz -> Boss EQ -> Katana 110 power amp in (no effects). Bassy, fuzzy if you hit the strings with some attack, clangy and metal if you trash on it, or soft if you take your time.

The settings are a really good balance. I started with the fuzz first, but it was really honky and organ-like, it's way better as a final touch to the sound. I want an atmospheric pedal so bad, and probably a whammy at some point.

How do my settings look as a newish player?

I got a Roland XP-50 for $30, how'd I do?

I messed around with a midi controller years ago at this point, but never learned how to play piano or use a synth. I found this at a garage sale a couple of weeks ago and I couldn't pass it up with how cheap it was. It's in essentially mint shape aside from one or two character marks, and it came in the hard case you see. It also has two manuals. The hard case is pretty beat up and needs some latches, but at least that took the abuse instead!

All four expansion slots are empty, but I know that they still sell the cards and that few companies make wireless ones. I also know that it is a quality piece of kit, and when it was released in 1995 it sold for $1995! This was an impulse buy, I've been trying to learn bass and focus on that, so I've been torn whether or not keeping it will help me learn music better, or if it'll just be a big distraction. If I let it go that would probably go toward a new pedal or something similar.

I want a Boss Space Echo RE-202, what else to consider?

I was going to get a Boss RE-2 but it seems limited by size, I'm not a fan of concentric knobs. The Echo 202 seems to fit what I want, but I was wondering if there is another option someone knows about that's worth looking at.

This will be used with a fuzz, OD, EQ, and a Rat on a Fender PJ. Anyone have a random awesome suggestion?
