Teething issues

She is back back now. I took it out last night and fuck was it amazing. No overheating(which I was mildly concerned about), no knock, no bogging, anything. But I may have adjusted my clutch slightly too tight so once it’s up to temp the clutch would slip a bit. All adjusted to spec now, just gotta testride and see if I need to pull the frictions to clean them up. And my starter solenoid shit the bed(I think my rr is putting way too much voltage through the system so I’ll need to replace that). Pulled over for a drink and had to roll start it. But excusing those 2 little gremlins it went amazing. I am over the moon to have this baby back

She’s back

Excuse the average quality painting. We kinda slacked on the prep as the tank and front fairing are way too far gone. But tank has had tank sealer in it to get me through until I find a new one. Front fairing has basically been fully fibreglassed on the back to hold it together and all the paint is either done or flashing off. Tank goes back on in the morning and tomorrow night it gets to go vroom. Just in time for my birthday. Can’t think of a better way to celebrate than the first proper ride back on my bike. I even went and got 100 octane for it to match the very modified heads, cams and carbs. Plus not taking the risk of detonation taking out another motor. But woohoo we’re back baby

Best dumb phone for only texting and calling

I want a dumb phone with literally nothing more than texting or calling. zero wifi capacity, zero browser capacity, zero frills. I want to throw my smart phone away. I talked(in person not over phone) about enjoying changing brakes and suddenly my phones showing mechanic videos constantly. I’ve never searched a mechanic related video on this phone. I’m sick of the constant monitoring and I want bare bones basic
Many thanks to the many people

Cries

Just as I get the old vfr ready to go(has been fully put together minus fairings since photo) I have to go ahead and drop 140kg on my finger at work. Guess I no longer have a functioning fingertip and I get to wait another 4-6 weeks before I can ride it. Nail bed gone, finger split open from front to first knuckle. Yea I done good

She lives

Literally started 5-8 seconds before the video did. Now to run it in and get all the assembly lube burnt out. I’m soo friggin happy. Been way too long

It’s finally happening

After far too long I’m finally getting the motor back together. I’ll admit this is a bit of a puzzle😂 I should’ve taken far more photos when I took it apart. Forks are done, brand new tires are on, engines going together. Fingers crossed I don’t screw anything up and I can ride it this weekend. Thank goodness for a 9 day fortnight. Get an extra day to tutu

Rant

The time is nigh for my nc24 vfr400r to go back together after destroying the bottom end on the old motor. I’ve got a gorgeous new crankshaft here for it now, beautiful new pistons and crank bearings, upgraded rings, new head gaskets everything. Except my rod bearings. They were meant to arrive on Tuesday and the courier has lost them. I had a half day at work today due to being sick, so I’m already annoyed tbf. My fairings and tank are almost finished from my mate who’s tidying them up for me. With a new paint scheme. Was hoping to use my public holiday on Monday to put it back together. But it’s after 5 on Friday and no rod bearings. I’m bloody bummed

Anyone tried this

I’m sick of my pretty visor getting different shades of purple and gold from the grime on my gloves. Has anyone tried this and does it help visors stay clean. Tia

Supercharger

Has anyone here ever added a supercharger to a vfr400. I’ve ordered the blower and all the supporting mods needed other than timing and I’m still deciding on pistons. If anyone’s done it what were the results and would you do it again. I know bite the bullet ask questions later. Also if anyone’s done it what timing setup did you go with

Is this reasonably possible from home with low experience

As the title states I have very little experience. I’ve done fibreglass before a few times and carbon once with a friend. The white fairings on the side of the bike are fibreglass from the previous owner but I would like to try make the front yellow one in either fibreglass or carbon. Is this even achievable without special tools ect. Tia
