20% of my users pay. There are just 15 of them.

MindBuy: you want something, you park it, you wait. A day, a week, a month. Then you decide. Most of the time the urge is gone, and the app adds up what you didn't spend.

15 people use it. 3 subscribed. The irony is not lost on me.

What's missing is everyone else. How did you get strangers to actually find your app?

Friseurbesuch - Nur EC keine Kreditkarte

A game idea lived in my head for 20 years. I finally built it.

I'm not a game developer. I work in IT, in a leadership role, and game dev was never going to be my job.

But there was this one idea I couldn't shake. I started playing Tribal Wars in 2003 and Diablo II a few years before that, and somewhere along the way I got stuck on a question: why has nobody ever put Diablo's loot system into a browser strategy game? Items that drop with rarities, random affixes, unique gear that breaks the rules — but in a game about building an empire, not swinging a sword.

For 20 years it stayed a "someday" thing. The kind of idea you mention to friends and never act on.

A few months ago I finally sat down and built it. It's called Argos Void — a browser-based space strategy MMO where you raid, build, form alliances, and every raid actually drops loot. No download, free, and loot is never purchasable because I grew up watching this genre die to pay-to-win.

It's not perfect and I'm sure there's a lot I'd do differently. But it exists now, and honestly that's the part that still feels a little unreal. A thing I daydreamed about for two decades is something people can actually play.

Alpha's live if anyone wants to poke at it: [argos-void.com]

Argos Void

https://i.redd.it/cf0jk0hnnt9h1.gif

I develop my own classical Browsergame.

25 years ago I fell in love with Tribal Wars, and I've been playing Diablo 2 since '99. So I decided to build something in between — in a brand-new setting. That's how Argos Void was born.

Build your own planets and fight other alliances and players with your own fleet of spaceships. Every ship can be equipped to make it stronger — loot weapons and shields with random stats from pirates or other players. Trading is a big focus too: items from common to unique, plus other tradeable goods.

The galaxy has 4 zones, each with its own hostile environment, so you need a dedicated shield for each zone to explore it. Play on a permanent world, or compete in time-limited season worlds.

Alpha Season ist complete free to play, I'm looking forward for your feedback

Built MindBuy after I noticed I was returning half my orders

Quick story in case anyone's curious.

I studied media informatics but never finished, now working in IT management. Earlier this year I installed Unity again and wanted to build a 3D game — got to my limits pretty fast.

So I switched and asked myself a different question: what actually annoys me in daily life, and can I solve it?

I have two bank accounts — one for fixed costs, one for fun spending. And I noticed I was ordering a lot of stuff online and sending half of it back. Not because anything was wrong with it, but because I didn't actually need it. Just sitting on the couch in the evening, scrolling, clicking buy.

So the idea was: park purchases in an app first. Wait 14 days. Then check if I still want it.

On top of that, I'm planning a camping trip and need some gear — stuff that would blow my monthly fun budget if I bought it all at once. So spread it across months without going over budget.

All of that became MindBuy. Went live on the Play Store on May 21st.

You drop in a wish, either manually or by pasting a product link from Amazon or wherever — it pulls title and price automatically. Set a waiting period from one day up to three months. When the time is up, you get a reminder and decide: buy, discard, or park again. You see how much you've saved by not buying stuff. Premium has the monthly budget feature and the planning mode for things with a fixed target date.

Everything is local. No account, no cloud, no tracking. Premium is a one-time purchase, no subscription.

Pretty proud the thing is actually out there now. Happy about any feedback.

[12 Testers Needed] MindBuy – App that helps you avoid impulse purchases 🛒⏳

Hey everyone!

I'm a solo developer and my closed test is almost done — just need a few more testers to keep the numbers stable for the remaining ~9 days.

What MindBuy does 💡

Instead of buying something instantly, you save it in MindBuy first. The item gets locked for a waiting period you choose. After the timer ends, you decide: buy it, drop it, wait longer, or plan it for later.

No forced restrictions — just a pause between impulse and decision. ⏸️

How to join (2 quick steps):

  1. Join the Google Group: 👉 https://groups.google.com/g/mindbuytest
  2. Opt-in here: 👉 https://play.google.com/apps/testing/com.elephanttrails.mindbuy

Just keep the app installed for ~9 days — that's all I ask! 🙏

Found a bug or have feedback? Post in the Google Group or email support@mindbuy.app — I reply quickly!

Thanks so much! 🚀

Features include: waiting timer, monthly budget tracking, savings statistics, planned purchases calendar, multi-currency, and multi-language support.

How to join (3 quick steps):

  1. Join the Google Group: 👉 https://groups.google.com/g/mindbuytest
  2. Opt-in to the test: 👉 https://play.google.com/apps/testing/com.elephanttrails.mindbuy
