My latest ride Saturday on maverick was one like no other. Never have we not slowed down to a near stop or stopped before the second launch. We rolled right into the tunnel hot and started accelerating with no hesitation. The trim brakes really grabbed us at the top of the hill, again never felt before, so we must have been hauling out of the tunnel.

Anyone ever have this experience? It was awesome.

Sorry for the long thread, but I’d appreciate it if anyone could actually take the time to read and respond.

I’m a first year low voltage apprentice. I’m only 7 weeks in total. I admit this is my first construction job but I was chosen as I had done this work extensively on my own house and for others. The committee was impressed by my portfolio I put together of the work Ive done.

So on to my concerns. My shop seems to be very dysfunctional and at points outright violating laws and JATC standards. I wanted input on if this is normal and just the way it is and I’m crazy or if they are actually getting away with stuff they shouldn’t.

First, safety, I get it that there is what’s written by osha and what’s done in practice. My shop it is standard practice to stand on the top of 8,12,15 foot A-frame ladders and on the top rails of scissor lifts. Many employees will even climb up into ceilings using sprinkler pipes, water lines, conduit and air ducts.

I have been told if i refuse it will put a target on my back.

We have also been doing large 6000+ foot DAS runs for emergency radios for government buildings. The jobs seem heavily under bid, expecting two guys to have this pulled in 3-4 days, when in reality they balloon to 8+ days in which management comes down hard.

Compared to the old das system runs in these buildings which are neat, organized, cleanly terminated - ours are haphazardly snaked and curved through trays and hooks and look like a mess.

Our last das install got the company chewed out by the county emergency inspection. The company’s response was to wait if they heard anything more and if not keep quiet.

On these das jobs is me (7 week) and another apprentice who has never done das before (starting second year) - no journeymen.

When I have worked with a journeyman on other jobs (data in schools) - Ive had nearly everyone have a break down on “how did they expect me to do this alone”.

I have also been verbally abused often (not thick skin) - telling me straight out “you’re worthless”, “you have no skills”, “too bad you’re not still in high school, you could get skills in something”. Ive even had employees in these buildings see this dynamic and step in to talk kindly to me or even offer assistance lifting 150+lb reels I’m told to load myself (I refused the help due to liability).

Like I said is this just the way it is, and should I gracefully exit the JATC and not waste time as I’m not fit, or is the shop the bad guy?

Heading to Cedar Point tomorrow. Ive posted a few threads here about people looking for friends and they got a lot of traction.

Going with two friends. If interested hit me up in a private message and we can coordinate a meeting spot in the park.

I don’t ride all the rides, but my friends coming with me are pretty much open to anything. We can stick together the whole day or branch off if you’d like.

So my wrangler seemingly overnight decided to stop hitting normal operating temperature. The digital bar gauge sits between the middle bar and the one below it.

My coolant gauge reads between 190 and 200.
I’ve been monitoring oil temperature as well and that seems fine (200-214).

It’s a 2021 with 3.6 pentastar. I noticed my coolant tank was almost bone dry (idk why it seems this happens in all newer cars after the 5 year mark if not topped off).

I filled it with approved coolant and tried “burping” the system best I could. It seems to be holding steady now fluid wise.

From everything I read it seems to indicate a sticking thermostat for temperature issue.

Anyone have this before or know the cause?

Long story short somehow my phone fell out of my over the shoulder bag on the Gemini Sunday. I have no clue how, it was zipped and had opened a tiny bit while on ride (idk how it fit through).

Find my shows it by Gemini. It kept moving around, but I think that’s just Find My’s location accuracy.

I submitted a missing item request, gave detailed information including where it was.

So is it as good as gone?

I don’t know if this is even allowed in this sub, but it’s honestly hard to find new friends around here.

Not to tell my while life story, but I’m 37M - working on rebuilding a major part of my life after a significant health issue derailed my career and all the work I put into it.

Just throwing that part out to say I’m not looking for dating, just some people around my age who would be open to doing things (Cedar Point).

I know I’m at the age where most people have their lives sorted out and families settled down, so it might be a long shot finding many people.

We bought an inflatable hot tub that has a bulky gfci plug on the end. I don’t want to cut it off and use a normal plug (outlet is gfci) and void the warranty.

I can’t find a shallow (meaning the outlets sit flush with the the with the back mounting plate and has a cover that is deep enough) weather proof cover/plate that will accept this plug and has a cord output directly below the outlet. We are using an extension cord temporarily (yes I know this is a bad idea as it isn’t the proper gauge and leaves the gfci exposed to the weather.

Does anyone know of a model cover that accepts a bulky plug like this?

So I’m really broke at this point and can’t keep taking this thing in to get different answers and pay diagnostics.

The stealership gave me the old “it’s your steering stabilizer”, but I’ve read enough to know that’s bullshit.

It’s a 2021 JLU sport with the 3.6L a 50volt battery with 36k miles. It spent most its life on Florida pot hole free roads.

Anything above 70mph, I hit the grating on a bridge and it sets it off into absolutely chaotic death wobble.

I’ve tried doing a dry steering test, nothing moves. I’ve tried jacking it up and checking for any play in wheels - nothing.

The track bar is torqued and doesn’t move.

The only thing I’m concerned with is the passenger side tie rod end rotates easily and clunks, the driver side rotates but seemingly a lot less with no clunk.

The drag arm rotates freely with a clunk as well.

Everyone says this is normal, but it really moves freely with no resistance.

Neither seem to have up or down play or side to side.

So idk what to do next without throwing parts at it.

I had my interview for JATC local 38 low voltage.

I received an 88.5 score. I heard this is pretty low. Local 38 won’t give you a rank.

Does anyone have experience what an 88.5 would look like in terms of being called?

So I got an 88.5 on oral interview for low voltage, I heard this low with amount of candidates. Anyone have any idea with this local especially, or others where this would land me on being chosen?

I was told it’s a very competitive and this is not great. They specifically say they won’t give a ranking.

Hey so there’s not a lot of places to find people to socialize in Cleveland - I’m hoping to start something on the regular where people in the 30s and 40s range can meet up regularly and socialize, network and make connections.

Where’s the safest place for someone to pop a tent and sleep? Safe meaning least likely to be hassled by police or get your head bashed in. I know there’s no “safe” place, but what is the least dangerous.

No job, no money, 37, been out of work for many years due to illness, better now but can’t find a job that pays enough to buy insurance and pay for meds or one that offers insurance after gap in work history - Medicaid only option.

Used to be a high earner - but an illness got in the way and caused me to make some bad decisions to end up without a job or hope to ever put it back together in a meaningful way.
