No, we're not all going to be happy with every casting decision

And that's okay. Try to remember that you loved Season 1 despite the cast not being exact physical embodiments of Rachel's characters as she described them.

Connor? Not Russian. Also not 6'4. Hudson? Korean and English rather than Japanese and Dutch. ZERO freckles. But they both captured their characters perfectly, fixed what they could (e.g. learning Russian and dabbing on some freckles) and had amazing chemistry.

I think people are getting overly fixated on the physical aspects of the characters and forgetting that they were almost certainly screen-tested for character representation and, in the specific case of Troy and Harris, for chemistry with each other.

Bood may wind up more Indo than IndoCaribbean or completely tattless. Ryan may not be a ginger. Any number of casting decisions may not be exactly how we pictured them, and that's okay. Let's see the finish product before we start flipping tables.

The one decision I feel really strongly about is Fabian being played by a MENA actor, but other than that, I'm just going with the flow. And that seems to be making me a much happier camper than some other folk. I strongly recommend chilling out and letting go of your preconceptions of what the characters should look like.

Is anybody able to find the number of people who watched the prequel episode?

I can't find the number anywhere. Interested to see whether the show's gotten any boost from the supposed guerilla marketing campaign fired.from.tv.

Does anyone have any tea on season 2 yet?

Looking for tea besides the fact that Troy will be in it and is integral - Jacob confirmed this eons ago; that tea is cold. Also, old tea that Jack Innanen (Innahan? Innahen?) wanted to be cast, campaigned for it, but then ultimately couldn't take part due to an alleged scheduling conflict.

What I'm hoping against hope for is tea re:

- Fabian and Ryan being included;

- Casting decisions;

- Any other plot points or characters confirmed or hinted at being included;

- Any characters confirmed NOT to be returning.

No gossip is too specious! Give me your hairstylist's cousin's brother-in-law's triple hearsay! As long as it's not mean-spirited, I'm into it.

Looking for Arabic TV (or movie) suggestions

I'm trying to watch more MENA programming. I specifically want the original language to be Arabic - I really don't enjoy dubbed audio.

To give you a sense of my taste, I've watched and really enjoyed:

- Al Rawabi School for Girls

- Jinn

- Crashing Eid

I didn't love but found the following pretty good:

- Caramel

- Kamla

- Perfect Strangers

- Arzé

- Alkhallat

(I think my problem with most of these ones is just that they're pretty sad and I don't love watching depressing things)

I have watched and not really enjoyed:

- Honeymoonish

- Finding Ola

- A Stand Worthy of Men (this was misogynystic garbage that I hated)

Any recommendations are appreciated! And fine with any Arabic dialect. I care moreso about the enjoyability of the content.

People who started skating older?

I'm in my forties and have decided to learn to longboard. The thing is...I am not at all naturally talented at it, I get scared when I go too fast, I have none of the little stabilizer muscles that you apparently need in your legs - basically, I suck. So, I guess I'm wondering if there are other people out there who started way later in life and eventually got good?

I was kinda thinking before I'd just start with a longboard and then try skateboarding at some point once I got comfortable with cruising, but right now it feels impossible to imagine ever not sucking...

Veteran UK travelers: UK travel in peak tourist season (August) - how essential is it to get tickets to various tourist attractions?

I'm off to the UK next month and hitting up various locations: Glasgow; Inverness; Isle of Lewis; Isle of Skye; Edinburgh; Conwy; Paignton; and London. Obviously, there are a lot of amazing things to see in all those places. I've read the occasional caution - usually on the tourist attraction websites themselves - that the touristy sites get exceptionally busy during tourist season and you may not be able to get in if you don't prebook tickets and just show up when you feel like it. I also deeply hate long lineups so if prebooking allows you to avoid REALLY long lineups, that would also be a significant motivator for me.

However, when you prebook those tickets, they almost always include a set entry time. I'm already struggling with feeling a bit overscheduled just with all the buses and trains as well as with a couple of excursions I've booked, so I'm not really excited about the idea of booking MORE things with set times. I'll do it if I need to so that I don't miss out on things I really want to see but I'm hoping to get a sense (from you UK veteran travelers) how crucial advance tickets are for the following:

*Inverness*

- Inverness Castle

- Culloden Battlefied

*Isle of Lewis*

- Callanais Stones

*Isle of Skye*

- Dunvegan Castle

*Edinburgh*

- Edinburgh Castle

- Edinburgh Dungeon

- Holyrood Palace

*Conwy*

- Conwy Castle

- The little wee Edwardian house

*London*

- Buckingham Palace

- The Tower of London

- Old Bailey

- Globe Theatre

- London Eye

Any guidance anyone can share on any of the above is greatly appreciated!

Can I (as a foreigner) get a couple of weeks worth of methimazole or a ventolin inhaler in the UK without seeing a doctor? If so, how?

Canadian here (technically dual UK citizen but I've never lived there and would assume I'm not entitled to medical benefits). I'll be traveling to the UK next month and - because I am an anxious person who worries about everything - I'm trying to think ahead to what happens if I were to somehow lose my methimazole or my ventolin while I'm there.

I'm going to be moving around between cities throughout Scotland and England a fair bit and have pre-booked modes of transportation with set times, which would make taking several hours out of my day to go to a hospital/walk-in clinic very challenging/problematic. My hope is that there's some workaround available in the UK like we have in my province where - as long as you can show you regularly take a certain medication, pharmacists can give you a shortterm prescription to get you through until you can see your doctor.

Is there anything like that available in the UK?

Blood pressure all over the place months into methimazole

So, I've been on methimazole for months and I feel MUCH better - like the vast majority of my symptoms have resolved (yay!). And my BP is overall substantially better than when I was first diagnosed - like systolic in the 120s for the mostpart now instead of the 130s/140s. But one thing I've continued to experience - and am starting to wonder if it's a symptom - is super variable blood pressure. I'll test my BP on different machines (like in different drug stores) and multiple times on the same machine, and get different - sometimes wildly different results.

I think for a while I just wrote it off as maybe a particular machine might be wonky or maybe that my BP had spiked cause I thought about something stressful, but it's legit all over the place and happening on different machines on different days. My systolic sometimes spikes or drops by 10+ points in a matter of a couple of minutes when I'm doing nothing but sitting there. My diastolic can jump or drop by 5+ points in the same timeframe. And it's not always just in one direction - sometimes it goes up on the second reading just to drop on the third.

My BP never used to do this. Of course, my BP also used to regularly be below 120/80. Just wondering if anyone else has experienced this weird variability? Was the answer just returning to beta blockers or something else? I'd really prefer not to go back on beta blockers, if possible, but I also don't want to mess up my heart with high BP.

Nodules on the thyroid

I was sent for a followup ultrasound to monitor the status of the nodules discovered on my thyroid during a similar scan in January. Results indicate a "slight" amount of growth in the last few months. Has anybody with such nodules had them grow? What did it mean in your case that they got bigger?

Just a post of gratitude for this sub

Mods, feel free to delete if not appropriate, but I just wanted to shout out how awesome this sub is. I've been seeing a lot of posts from the newly diagnosed, folks who are feeling anxious and/or angry about the sudden turn their life has taken (I was one of those people just a few months ago!) and I find myself thinking that this sub represents the best of the internet.

People are always careful not to tread into medical advice but do share their own experience, which can be invaluable information. Everyone is so supportive and generous with their time in replying to posts in order to help other people navigate the disease. And because I think Graves is still less researched than say cancer or heart disease, it can be hard to find nuanced information in other places, including medical sources.

So yeah, shout out to everyone in this sub! You're awesome and so is this community.

Graves + methimazol and Ozempic? (Or any other weight loss drug)

Hey yall, I am wondering if anyone has experience with weight loss medications while being on methimazole for GD? I'm obviously going to consult with my doctor as well, but I've been finding that what's scientifically validated in the Graves medical world seems to lag a few paces behind what people with Graves disease could just tell you based on lived experience. All of which is to say: if my endo says no to weight loss drugs, then that's the end of the discussion. But even if my endo says there's no evidence that weight loss drugs can interact badly with Graves and/or methimazole, I'd like to know whether anyone's experienced issues.

Any responses are appreciated!

What's your favourite Shoresy quote? (from Shoresy OR Letterkenny)

For whatever reason, this one still makes me laugh like an idiot child every single time:

"Fuck you, Jonesy! Your mom shot cum straight across the room and killed my Siamese fighting fish! Threw off the pH balance in my aquarium, you piece of shit!"
