How Do LP Brokerages Work?

I assume there’s some very high value items that can be redeemed when you have tons of LP, which in turn makes the 900ISK/LP payout model viable, but idk for sure.

I’ve tried exchanging LP for relatively low-level items and selling them on my own at Jita, and the best I can usually do is about 400ISK/LP, so there’s gotta be much more to it.
