18 weeks… Just looking for some solidarity

I’m a SAHM with a 2 year old boy and an 18 week old boy. We are riding the struggle bus this last week. 18 week old refusing all naps after 2pm. We’ve tried the carrier, the stroller, the swing. I can’t sit in a dark room and rock him either otherwise our 2 year old will burn the house down!! I’ve tried putting him down in his crib for his 3rd nap and letting him cry but he will do this for like 20-30 minutes before I just abandon the nap. I have tried shortening wake windows, lengthening wake windows… I know this is a tough age but I am just at a loss here. Will someone tell me how they survived a similar situation or just commiserate with me? We are planning to sleep train at 5 months so I’m hoping his naps will improve after.

Mom with toddler + infant… what are we doing in the summer?

I’m a SAHM with a 2 year old boy and a 3.5 month old (who is majorly going through a sleep regression right now) - how the heck are we handling summer?! We live in Texas and it is hot as hell right now. My toddler is unphased by the heat, however. Constantly wants to be outside and is a menace if he doesn’t get some outdoor time. Up until now it hasn’t been a problem because my husband had a very generous paternity leave so one of us would play outside and the other would stay inside with the baby, but he is back to work now. I feel like it’s way too hot to let baby hang outside in his bouncer or something, even in the shade… what are we doing?! Should I buy a bunch of fans and stick those in a shaded area for baby? Or do I work on teaching my toddler that we can only be outside when baby is napping? Open to any and all solutions that other parents have found! Thanks!

10 week old waking every 1-2 hours

For the last several weeks my 10 week old has been waking every 1-2 hours at night. I’m really at a loss for what could be waking him this frequently. It is so hard to tell if it’s gas pain, hunger, temperature, reflux, or just needing to be soothed... He is EBF and nurses every 2-3 hours during the day. We generally follow an eat play sleep routine during the day. He naps about 4-5 hours total during the day and it varies where he naps but he usually gets one or two bassinet naps during the day. He doesn’t seem to struggle with gas pain during the day. At night we will give him gas drops which may help him sleep another 15-30 minutes but then he is up again shortly after. His night waking is true waking - eyes wide open, fussiness escalating to crying. I usually wait a minute or two before picking him up to see if he will settle. We’ve tried settling him without picking up - pacifier, rocking body a little, shushing but none of that works for him. We will not cosleep - no judgment against those that do but we will not be trying this so please do not suggest this.

I really feel like the sleep deprivation and the night waking is affecting my mental health and my ability to bond with this baby. Would love to hear from anyone who had similar experiences or anyone who has some other suggestions of things to look at or try.

Nursing AM, pumping/bottle feeding in PM

I have an 8 week old who was born at 37 weeks - healthy, no NICU stays, and he has been gaining weight well at home. He is EBF. We have yet to get more than a 3 hour stretch of sleep from him and really I can count on one hand the number of times that has happened. A couple weeks ago my husband and I started doing shifts at night so I could get at least one longer stretch of sleep at night. My last nursing session would be around 9, baby would get a bottle around 12 (offer him 4oz but usually only takes about 3), and most nights he wouldn’t wake again until 3 sometimes closer to 4. It hasn’t seemed to affect my milk supply and I’ve been much happier and in a better head space getting more sleep.

There have been a handful of nights where we both end up going to bed at the same time and baby doesn’t get a bottle, and each one of those nights he is up every 1-2 hours. It baffles me. My husband goes back to work soon and has a very demanding and unpredictable job so the shifts at night aren’t going to be possible and I’m going to be handling nights solo. We also have a 2 year old so getting 4-5 hours of broken sleep is just not going to work.

I am so hoping our baby starts giving us longer stretches as he gets older but until then, I’ve considered just giving him bottles at night and then pumping a couple of times at night because I can’t imagine that is going to take longer or result in less sleep for me than what is happening now. Anyone have any experiencing doing this? Or have any suggestions on other things to try? Thank you!

Day trip to Yellowstone from Red Lodge

My family will be staying in Red Lodge at the end of June for about a week and then we will be staying in Cody for a few days at the tail end of our trip. My husband has never been to Yellowstone and we’d really love to make a trip into the park. Not looking to see everything but would like to hit Old Faithful. We are debating two options:

  1. Leave from and return to Red Lodge - drive Beartooth pass to get there and enter through Northeast entrance. Thinking we’d take the same route back or if anyone has suggestions for an alternate route back I would gladly take them!
  2. Leave from Red Lodge and end up in Cody - would take same route above to enter park but leave through East entrance to where we are staying in Cody.

I know this is going to be a lot of driving and we are planning to just think of the day as a scenic driving day versus a day of activity. The other consideration we have is that we will be traveling with our two young kids so we will need to build in some stops every couple of hours to get out and stretch our legs, change diapers, etc.

Looking for some input on this day trip and opinions on whether or not it’s even possible or worth it! Thanks!
