New gardener - what are your fall/winter soil recommendations? Any specific Florin Perkins recs, by chance?

Any feedback is appreciated! I hope to plant broccoli, cauliflower, cabbage, a variety of native flowers, snap peas, lettuce, kale, chives & possibly Swiss chard. 😊

ETA - we primarily plant in containers since we rent.

The amount of people who tell me my GSD is malnourished/starving is wild. People are so used to chunky dogs 😭

Vet thinks he’s a perfect weight. 1.5 years old. 77 pounds. Very tall.

I just tell people his vet is happy with his body score so I’m not concerned. He eats 5 cups of high quality food a day + supplements/fish oil.

Side note - The black & white pup is almost 13 & has cushings, so we’ve been struggling maintaining a healthy weight for a while between the condition & meds.

I’m collecting seeds from my dead flowers for the first time ever - nasturtiums, marigolds, sunflowers, snap dragons, calendula & lavender. Is there any events or people interested in seeds or even a seed/plant swap?

This is my first time so i can’t guarantee they will germinate but i allowed the flower heads on the plant to dry out or dried on my counter. I’m hoping they were collected correctly (i did watch a few videos for some flowers)

There’s far more than i can plant next year & would love to share or swap if anyone is interested.

I live in Sacramento CA & we’re looking for our own angler kayaks (2 adults, 1 10 yr old) for lakes. We have a budget or $1500 for 3. Any recommendations?

Any expert insights on what may have led to our starter gold bar zucchini’s demise?

Planted it in a 25 gallon fabric container in new, amended soil late March. Did well & produced a few fruits. The leaves looked mildewy & plant began to noticeably decline over time.

Cut a few leaves off over the law few weeks to try to direct energy to the plant/fruit production - when there were a solid 10 leaves & clear growth.

Seeking guidance if this is a disease, pest issue or otherwise. Any feedback is appreciated.

To note - we have ten other squash plant in the same soil/conditions with no issues.

After years of trying, my 9 year old caught his first trout today. ❤️ 🎣 never been so proud of anything that was 3.15 oz before in my life 🤣

A day for the history books in this house.

Fish swallowed the hook, so we brought it home. Gonna have the teensiest fillet for dinner & he’s excited.

Omg this was a shocking realization. 32. Not great lighting but horrible lines around my eyes. I’ve always had hallow, deep set eyes. What can I do? Can’t seem to keep myself mortised enough.

Took this while “smiling” in my room.

I have used SPF religiously for years. Currently using daily :

Morning
- la roche posay 50 SPF hydra sunscreen (will switch back to Elta MD when it’s out)
- cerave eye repair cream
- (make up for dark circles) - bye bye under eye concealer

Night
- remove make up with garnier micellar water or coconut oil
- La Roche-Posay Lipikar AP+ Gentle Foaming Cleansing Oil
** i was using hydralauronic acid & La Roche Posay lipikar* cream —> per my derms recommendation but my skin still felt incredibly dry. I’ve been juggling “skin barrier repairing moisture creams” since

But wow i could use some advice because i don’t feel like im flourishing post derm visit.

They didn’t say much besides i have dry, sensitive skin

I’ve had microneedling with PRP (?) ~4 years ago. I’m not opposed to doing it again once my husbands work picks up.

I try to stay hydrated as much as possible.

What are some of the most unique plants you’ve grown, or have successfully grown in Sacramentos general vicinity?

I heard of someone growing dragon fruit which blew my mind! I didn’t realize they would grow here. Would love to know what other specialized gardeners have successfully produced!

I loved the game so much but id be lying if I said it wasn’t a tad disheartening how difficult it was to navigate the game. I couldn’t have beaten it independently, full stop.

Does anyone else feel that way? Regardless it had low of nostalgia & I love the cozy town, storyline & masks.

Just went on a walk with my son and saw this formation in the sky. Seemed to fast to be birds and to dim to be satellites? But I’m not sure. Maybe I’m overthinking it?
