What hardware cybersecurity tools did you actually build at home?

I know replicating a complex, multi-tool like the Flipper Zero at home isn't feasible. Instead, I’m interested in any single-purpose, DIY gadgets built to fulfill a specific cybersecurity purpose.

For those who build their own pentesting or hardware hacking tools instead of buying commercial gear:

What boards did you use? (ESP32, Raspberry Pi , Arduino, etc.)

What specific tools/hardware did you need?

What open-source firmware or software libraries did you flash onto it?

What is a discovery that absolutely blew your mind ?

What’s something you discovered in cybersecurity or tech that completely blew your mind the first time you learned about it? Could be a hacking technique, a real story, or just a weird fact that made you go “what the hell”.

How easy is it to hack windows 7 ,8 and 10?

I’ve noticed that a lot of people around me are still using Windows 7 and 8. I know that Microsoft stops updating those systems after a while, but how easy is it really to hack them? Is being connected to the same network really enough?

Someone is sending me messages on WhatsApp from a fake number and knows way too much information about me. I tried searching IRL, but that didn't work. Reverse number lookup didn't work either. I'm thinking about sending them a link that'll help me retrieve their name or something like that. Any suggestions on how I'll be able to do it? I'm already familiar with Kali; I just need an idea to start with.

Hey everyone, I'm trying to clone my campus access card to my Android phone . I scanned it with NFC Tools, and it’s a Mifare Ultralight EV1.

I've blocked out my Serial Number for privacy, but I'm looking for a way to have my phone emulate this 7-byte UID.

Is there an app or method that actually works for this(without rooting my phone) or buying extra hardware .

Thanks!
