Am I one of the firsts to have played double-edge sticking or double-edge strokes around the drum set while comping?
In the above video, I'm utilizing double-edge sticking with my left hand while comping to create a fuller, more dynamic, propelling sound.
I know that other drummers (Barret Deems, Milford Graves, Max Roach, etc) have used this method for "swatting" or "fanning." But they have used it mostly with the snare or snare/hi-hats. And that the strokes are vertical, whereas my double-edge strokes are horizontal and requires a shifting hand grip (which you can see in the video).
Lastly, do you think I should name it as "double-blading" (i.e. double-blade lightsabers used in Star War stories)?
