Planning to make beef jerky for the first time tomorrow and hoping for some advice.

The dehydrator I bought is this Cosori Food Dehydrator.

I cut the beef into 1/4 inch slices, but some might be 3/8ths as my knife wasn’t super sharp. However it’s only some ends or a part of the slice that is slightly thicker. I’ll be putting these ones on the bottom of the dehydrator.

Plan is to dehydrate them from raw at 165F for 4-6 hours. Is that enough time? Do I need more, and if so how much more?

I have some plans tomorrow so I’m trying to coordinate to get this done either before or after these plans so I don’t have to leave the dehydrator on while I step out for 1+ hours.

Would appreciate any advice along with any beef jerky making tips you guys have!

I live in Canada and have been at this company for 2+ years doing demand generation marketing, 3 days in office and 2 days I work from home. It’s about a 45 minute driving commute each way, requiring driving on major highways.

Last week my car broke down and it requires over $5k in repairs, so I emailed my boss and HR (per HR’s policy) on Thursday September 3rd and advised them my car is unsafe to drive. Unfortunately my girlfriend is a supply teacher, so she needs her car as she isn’t sure on any given day which school she’s at. As a result, I asked HR for a little grace to work from home while I actively sort out my vehicle situation in the next week or so.

It is Wednesday September 9th and I just received a response from them, and they’re accommodating me to work from home for the next two days. Afterwards, they say the following:

However, I want to clarify that your in-office attendance cannot be conditional on whether you have access to a car. Employees are responsible for arranging reliable transportation to and from the workplace. Working from home is a privilege that requires prior management approval; it is not an alternative when personal transportation is unavailable.
As a reminder, you are expected to work in the office at least three days per week. To make up the in-office days missed this week, you will be required to work from the office every day next week.
Please make the necessary arrangements and confirm that you understand these expectations.

I do understand that arranging transportation is my responsibility, but when I’m asking for a bit of grace to the WFH policy AND I have a 45 minute driving only commute each way, I feel like this is a bit ridiculous/overkill. Do they expect me to rent a car? Public transportation isn’t an option between where I live and where the office is really.

Might be me being a bit overdramatic, but the entire email I got back has really pissed me off, and I’m seriously considering looking for another place to work.

Am I overreacting?

Edit: I’m financing a car and picking it up in the next 7 days. Never expected it to be weeks or months long, HR was aware I was asking for 1-2 weeks max. Sounds like I was over reacting a bit so I’m just gonna suck it up until my new car comes. Thanks all!

Long story short, located in the greater Toronto area and my 2012 Mazda 3 is needing $4k+ in repairs after putting $2.5k into it earlier this year. As a result, I’m looking to get a new vehicle.

Problem is my girlfriend’s car is 1-2 years away from needing replacing as well. As a result, we’re considering leasing a vehicle for 36 months, that way when her car goes we’ll have some money set aside to finance a 2nd vehicle.

Going into a Mazda dealership tomorrow in hopes of leasing a Mazda 3 sport or a Mazda CX-30. My precious cars have always been used cars I’ve bought outright or financed. Would appreciate any advice on how to approach tomorrow as it’s our first time discussing a lease/buying a new vehicle.

- how much should I expect to pay biweekly/monthlg
- should I put $0 down
- will they cover most “normal” repairs/maintenance
- any other advice, negotiation tactics, or other things I should prepare for

Is there a way to get the discord chat audio through my Xbox onto the twitch stream? Do I need an elgato chat cable, or is there a way to natively do it?

I drive a 2012 Mazda 3, and last week when my check engine light came on, I got this code U0428 which is related to the steering sensor/module. Tried the steering wheel reset trick, and cleared the code, but seven days later it’s come back on.

My mechanic said he can’t get me in until next Tuesday, so I’m trying to figure out whether my car is safe to drive for the week or not.

Check engine light is solid, not flashing, steering has been fine, and I’ve had no power issues or issues driving. I’m also 5k overdue for an oil change, but I believe this is unrelated to the check engine light.

Going airsofting with a friend for the first time ever tomorrow in the GTA area. He goes a few times a year, and is lending me his M4 and some gloves and some BBs. Looking for any tips/advice as a first timer

- Plan on wearing Jeans + hoodie + backwards hat
- Bringing a spare change of clothes
- Bringing a funnel for BBs
- Not the most athletic person, but we’re doing an indoor space, shouldn’t be too bad?
- What kinda pain level should I expect when shot?
- Will rental Face protection go over my eyeglasses? Need them to see a bit farther lol

My partner and I are first-time homebuyers looking a townhouse condos in Guelph and trying to get a feel for different areas from people who actually live there.

We’re currently considering a few pockets:

• East end (Victoria / Grange / Watson area)
• North end (Woodlawn E / Lakeview area)
• East-central (Mountford area)
• West side (Silvercreek / Willow area)
• West end (Imperial / Paisley area)

For anyone familiar with these neighbourhoods:

- Any concerns around parking, condo boards, noise, safety, or resale value?

- Any areas that have hidden issues locals know about (traffic, pests, flooding, sketchy pockets, etc.)?

Overall just looking for places to avoid. I’ve see people post about Willow/Silvercreek rentals being bad for cockroaches, but unsure if that’s the townhouses or apartment buildings, so figured I’d post and ask.

Appreciate any honest insights.
