Question, i'm new to the scene and i'm confused why isn't Sony tracking or sueing hackers like Gezine or theflow

So I know they report the bugs to Sony via the hacker bounty thing, but does that make them exempted from getting sued if they release the hacks ?

This is just a question that has been confusing me since I remember Sony sued the ps3 hackers
