If you had children less than two years apart. Did your youngest have health issues?
My kids are roughly a year apart. First was planned. We were one and done. Husband even had a vasectomy. I wasn't great at taking my birth control on time but I thought as long as I took it every day I would be good. I had gotten into my 30s without an unplanned pregnancy... I didnt even know I was pregnant with my second untill I was about 10 weeks along.
My youngest was born with an inherited kidney issue called vesticortial reflux. I didn't even know it ran in my family but thats a whole other story. My youngest had 3 hospital stays and a surgery for that. When he was 3, 4, and 7 he was hospitalized because his blood counts dropped. He saw every specialist at the time. I believed he had auto immune issues but that was dismissed. At 6 he was diagnosed with adhd. At 9 he was diagnosed with autism. Now at 10 he has what they called yesterday "classic auto immune symptoms". So today we go for more blood work.
I should mention, I am also an "oops baby". My brother and I are less than a year apart. So maybe things were already against me genetically. I also have auto immune issues but mine started in my late 30s. Vasculitis is the only one that is definitive but they believe i have lupus, I dont check every box, so i see rheum twice a year and they monitor everything.
I don't know why exactly I am posting this. I feel like I failed him. The trials he has to endure at such a young age. He had a mental breakdown last year. It was bad. Was hospitalized (less than a week) for that and missed 3 months of school. Now hes in a special ed school and is thriving there.
I feel like I failed him. My husband tells me we are doing everything right. That we always seek help and answers. We dont just ignore anything going on with him, but I made him. I feel like my body failed him. Is that narcissistic? Im really struggling right now. I am in therapy but my son isn't someone we usually discuss because my birth family (for lack of better term) is such a mess. I will be bringing all of this up at my next session though.
