How hard would it be to find work as a pediatrician in Squamish?

Hello community, for context I am a pediatrician from Mexico in the path for certification and licensure in Canada because 'who doesn't want to live in paradise?'. My husband works in IT, and we have a 15yo kid who is studying 10th grade this year. We are planning on arriving in BC by summer 2027, and my husband (an avid mountain biker) and me (hiker and potter) are head over heels with your community (I admit it, I have been following your feed and doing research on my own). I understand that there is a hospital in Squamish, plenty of kids, and not a lot of pediatricians. Problem is, I cannot find a single job posting for my profession there. I am a really stubborn person and when I have a dream I chase it, but I want a reality check. Is there really a chance to become your neighbor? It all comes down to the real need of a pediatrician in there. I have been told to look in bigger cities, but we had our lifetime share of big cities, so we are hanging on to the dream. Thank you for your time! Happy Canada day to you all

Planning a future move to BC (Sea-to-Sky or Vancouver Island)

Hello everyone,

My family and I are in the early stages of planning a long-term relocation from Mexico to British Columbia (targeting the Sea-to-Sky Corridor or Vancouver Island by 2027). I wanted to drop in early, introduce ourselves, and ask for some guidance as we map out our journey.

I am a pediatrician; my husband is an enterprise tech architect, and we are moving with our three dogs and our son—a 10th-grade student already working toward a career in mental health. We are deeply drawn to the inclusive, outdoor-driven lifestyle of BC and want to arrive as active contributors to the area we land in.

I’m currently navigating the credentialing process so I can be useful on the clinical front once we arrive. In the meantime, I’d love to learn from those of you already doing the work:

What are the local volunteer initiatives, conservation groups, or community spaces that are keeping your neighborhoods strong right now? How can an incoming family best step up to support the efforts that matter most to you?

We are honored at the prospect of eventually calling BC home and want to start our journey by listening and learning. Thank you for your time and guidance! 🏔️🏺🐕

Why are Mods rejecting my posts?

Hello there, My account is new (3 days old) but I have built a good amount of Karma, I believe. I've been trying to ask a friendly question non political, non aggressive, not rude, about the style of living in another country out of mere curiosity, and the post has been banned from not one but two subreddits the first one said something like - this is not the right sub for your question because is to specific of a region, go ask that region. So I did that and their answer was, this post is not about our community (it specifically states a region in that state), go post it elsewhere. Am I doing something wrong? Should I use mod mail for the second community to try and learn why my post is rejected?. I would appreciate your help, I don't want to be pushy and lose karma, but my interest is genuine and inoffensive because I am planning to go there for a long vacation. Thanks everyone. Have a great weekend

What has been the most shocking piece of information/ realization you have ever gotten about being ND?... I'll go first

Knowing that NT brains have silence inside their brains when idling between tasks.... I mean, Silence? Not a million ideas running in the background? How come!??

Meet Elliot

Next Tuesday she will be five years old! Just a cute fluffy pooping machine baby 🥰

I know it gets confusing: named is Elliot and being a She, but that's what happens when you let a 10 yo pick a name for your chin! 😄
