Welcome to the Free Republic of Avian! The Free Republic of Avian is a micronation that was founded near Hesperia, California on June 21st, 2026. Avian was founded by the current citizen of the republic who wished for a greater sense of freedom, creativity, self-governance, and community.
Avian was not designed to become a breakaway republic by force or politics but to serve as a creative project about the imaginative and culture creation, nation building, self-creation, and the exploration of personal experience on a plot of land in the United States of America.
Avian currently covers about 0.25 of an acre but the young micronation is actively designing its name, laws, institutions and its cultural expressions. An national website is under construction as is a constitution, national symbols and a national public record, a cultural traditions document, and various national projects. The republic currently uses the Avian Tweet as its national currency. Although relatively small in population, the republic is always interested in expanding, building community and sharing space with friends.
It’s also a chance to practice self-governance and demonstrate the fact that even very small amounts of land can become the genesis of a distinct, sovereign national character and a practice in community creation.
