Still obsessed with this watch and its simplicity
Hey yall any thoughts on my squat if form is ok pls? Mostly concerned about the ascent as there’s a bit of a nudge forward in my upper torso which I thought was from improper brace. However, I’ve worked on the brace and the forward nudge is not fully resolved.
Or is it just simply a weight thing and I need to go down?
Thanks!
Hey yall, not ragebaiting but im just trying to understand. I'm recently getting into watches after being a smartwatch dude for a long time and I'm into microbrands mostly for the value they provide and because I can't afford other more expensive pieces.
The gist of my question is why people tend to look down on homages from smaller brands as opposed to something like the CW C63 sealander GMT vs the polar II. I understand theres some differences on the CW, but in my mind if someone looking at your watch at a glance and thinks that could be the polar II i feel like thats not very original and is bascially an homage. I get that something like a san martin is trying to replicate most of the things on a rolex for example but with their logo slapped on but i still dont see why the CW is respected.
another example would be something like the new longines hydroconquest.
Or am i just misunderstanding? i feel like personally i wouldnt want a microbrand watch that could be mistaken for a more expensive/well known watch.
Recently got into watches and realized I love field watches. Just picked up this Vaer S5 calendar field and loving it!
Haven’t seen many posts on it with the bracelet so figured I’d post some shots of it. I’ve never had a watch with a bracelet so not sure about the quality but seems pretty well built with good finishing considering the price.
The watch as a whole is great, super legible, and very versatile between the bracelet and included nylon and rubber straps. It’ll be my daily watch mostly on the bracelet and I also have a bambino for more dressy occasions.
Hey yall, will be starting a bout of training for a half marathon and a full marathon after that’ll last about 6 months total. Will be doing fighter template either from TB1 or from green protocol as I’ll be running 4x/wk for the half and 5x/wk for the full.
Main question when thinking about my cluster I’ll be choosing is if I should go with bench, barbell back squat, WPUs, and deadlift (DL either once or twice a week) or should I do a more running relevant cluster such as bench, Bulgarian split squat, WPUs, and RDLs.
Im currently running operator with bench/back squat, Rows, and conventional deadlift and do prehab/PT exercises on my running days for more hip and single leg exercises. So by doing the BSS and RDLs I kinda streamline those prehab sessions.
What do yall think? My main focus will be on running performance but im worried about not doing a barbell back squat or conventional deadlift for 6 months when I go back to dedicated max strength training after the marathon
Thanks yall
Hey yall, we're a group of 3 and will be going to the Amalfi Coast from 7/1-7/5/2026 as part of a larger europe trip. There's so much info online about the tips for this region and its been a bit overwhelming teasing out what the logistical realities are. We're all surgery residents and havent had much time to fully flesh out our plan so apologies if any of these are completely ignorant questions.
We got an AirBNB in Sorrento for our base in Massa Lubrense and will arrive there around 1pm on 7/1.
My main questions are two-fold:
Since Sorrento will be our home base and we will do day trips to the other cities, does that mean things like dinner and other night activities will only be able to be done in Sorrento? or can we like do dinner in the other cities and travel back and forth later in the night? I hear its better to do ferries for transport between the cities but not sure if/how much it would cost to do like private charters/boat or private driver for getting back to sorrento at night.
One of us will be leaving earlier on 7/3 in the afternoon so I would like for her to do the main things so she can see it. would it be possible to do like a day trip to Capri as soon as we arrive in sorrento and then do one of those private boat tours to positano and amalfi on 7/2 for her?
Thanks again for any insights y'all have.
Hey yall, hoping for some help with my first higher cost watch purchase. Im new to getting into watches after using an apple watch for most of my adult life so far.
My first real watch that i purchases a couple months ago was an Orient Bambino Version 3 white dial which i absolutely love and im now making my daily. I also just bought a F91W for casual athletic wear which i also love since its basically the complete opposite of what my Apple Watch Ultra is.
Around August Ill have reached my goal weight after losing about 120 pounds and would like to get a slightly more expensive watch to celebrate the milestone. I initially was going to get one of the new Longines Hydroconquests and save up for it and get it after i finish my first marathon in Janaury 2027 but Ive decided i want to take this watch collecting journey slower and enjoy more affordable pieces and not rush things.
My next purchase would be my new daily so i want it as versatile as possible. Im a doctor (surgery resident) so need something that isnt too flashy or overstated and can mesh well with jade green and forrest green scrubs but then also be dressed down or up.
I was considering getting the Seiko SSK001 to mark the weight loss but from what i see of it im not sure how well it would mesh with scrubs so then i would also get a hamilton khaki field mechanical (black dial on bracelet) to commemorate the marathon and then i would use that at work. However, now i recently discovered Henry Archer and absolutely love the verden GMT with the silt colorway and i feel like its much more versatile than the SSK001.
This has been long winded but i really want to be intentional about these purchases and obviosuly i just dont know a lot about watches yet. The SSK001 seems like a safer choice given seiko's history but i love the HA too.
What do yall think? bad idea to go with the HA for my first bigger watch purchase? thanks!
Hey yall, hoping i can get some insight on how to care for my cactus. I absolutely love this cactus and have had it for about 10-11 years. She survived outside with a massive hurricane and i just completely love her.
I've noticed these extensive and large brown spots on her and was concerned if i needed to change any of her care and recently stumbled on this subreddit. We're in south florida and shes always outside. The water she gets is only when it rains; i never water her because i figured cactus wouldnt need any more. She's in the sun during most of the day. The brown spots are hard and not mushy at all.
Looking at other posts it seems like this is corking and is a natural process given her age. Does this mean shes close to the end of her lifespan? i feel like there should be something i can do for her to grow green?
In addition, shes getting pretty tall and i may have trim her if thats at all possible? how could i go about doing that?
Thanks yall!
Hey yall hoping for a form check for my squats. This was 210lbs which is 90% of my 1RM. Seem to be falling a bit forward on the ascent and not sure if it’s a bracing issue or something else. Thanks!
Hey yall, hoping for some insight into my running shoe rotation. Currently a beginner runner (first 5k i did after 6 weeks of running for the legit first time in my life was 29:11 on 3/1 and recently did another on 4/18 and that was 27:49). I'm planning on doing a 10k june 20, a half marathon oct 17, and a full marathon 1/31/2027.
currently using brooks glycerin 23 for easy and long runs and some evo SL's which i got for 60 bucks for speed sessions/workouts and races. currently running about 15mpw and will be around 19-20 by the time the 10k rolls around.
ive been wanting a some sort of beginner friendly carbon plated shoe that i could ideally use for the 10k and half marathon (by then id have more experience and would figure something out for the full) and just saw on sale the NB SC elite v5s for less than 100. Would these be a good intro to carbon plated shoes?
i think i would mostly use them for race day as well as long runs that have faster paces incorporated in them (which is usually every other week for me). with that kind of use i was hoping theyd last for the 10k as well as the half.
what do you guys think?
