Turns out my ACA compliant plan is a phantom/shell company

Canceling my family health insurance today-turns out it was a total scam

Imperial Health Insurance

It turns out the insurance provider I have is essentially a ghost network, a shell plan, a phantom policy. 15,000 deductible. Bought through the official marketplace, supposedly fully ‘ACA compliant’, a bronze plan.

First I discovered the doctors that are listed on our cards do not take our insurance. They said I have to call around and try to convince a doctor for husband and I or a pediatrician to take it. NONE have offered or even entertained this. I cannot take my children to get seen at a pediatrician. They both have ADHD. They had ONE provider listed as a child psychiatrist in their network and it essentially does not exist except on a screen. They have three numbers that all route to a voicemail that never calls back. I looked the doctor up and the practice does not exist.

The ‘cherry on top’? My son broke his arm and they refused to pay for a dime of it because it turns out there are no emergency providers in my county that take our insurance. WTF?! I asked if there were perhaps some in another county? They said no that would be out of network. WTF again?! The hospital/ER took our insurance card and looked at us like we were trying to pull a fast one or something. Like we were presenting a Monopoly or UNO card perhaps. NO medications are covered, except through a supposed online pharmacy that does not answer phones and has a PO Box for a physical address.

Why the HELL was I paying $600 a month for NOTHING? I feel so STUPID. I feel I have failed my family for making such a stupid decision, but I thought it was the RIGHT thing to do. I could’ve been saving all that and paying out of pocket for services. I want my money back, can I sue them?!

TLDR; it turns out my ACA plan is a complete shell plan, a phantom policy, a ghost network that does NOT exist except to collect premiums. Canceling it TODAY.

I WISH our employer covered healthcare.

Any advice on how to report these fraudsters? It CAN’T be legal what they are doing. It just can’t.

Cancelling USELESS ACA health insurance today

Canceling my family health insurance today-turns out it was a total scam

It turns out the insurance provider I have is essentially a ghost network, a shell plan, a phantom policy. 20,000 deductible. Bought through the official marketplace, supposedly fully ‘ACA compliant’, a bronze plan.

First I discovered the doctors that are listed on our cards do not take our insurance. They said I have to call around and try to convince a doctor for husband and I or a pediatrician to take it. Look into your insurance plan folks. The healthcare system is just totally broken. You could be paying for absolutely NOTHING. I feel I completely failed my family. Now we are in so much medical debt. Don’t make the same mistake we did paying for an ACA ghost policy.

Seriously FUCK healthcare in this country.

I WISH our employer covered healthcare. Now off to find a new job I guess? I don’t fucking know. Fuck this shit

Toy Story 5 taught my kids iPads are good *warning - spoilers*

I was so pissed off at the ending of this movie. Why couldn’t the iPad be a villain they defeated at the end of the movie? They had full on villains they defeated at the end of other Toy Story movies.

No instead it gets accepted by the other toys. I was just really disappointed and thought this one would have a lesson.

Don’t take your kids to see this movie if you’re hoping it will inspire them to have less screen time and play more with toys. My kids favorite character from this movie? The LilyPad (iPad device). ‘She’s a good guy! See the other toys accepted her!’

The most worrying part? The parents of Bonnie didn’t even bother to try and restrict it or anything. It came away with the lesson that because it could potentially connect kids as strangers… and that’s supposedly a good thing? So the moral of the story was that iPads are a good way to connect to strangers.

DO NOT seek advice from Chat GPT

Everytime I have told or vented to ChatGPT about something that has happened in my abusive relationship, it literally starts asking questions like ‘well did you do XYZ?’ ‘Did he have a hard day at work?’ ‘Were you yelling also?’ Or ‘I can’t know from context if your husband was in the right on this since I wasn’t there’. ‘Ask him later if he wants to discuss this in a kind voice and make sure to apologize for your part too’

This has been after I have explained to it I was being hit, yelled at, screamed at, belittled, stonewalled, shoved, keys stolen, etc.

So yeah this sub, or anyplace else really, is far more reliable and gives better advice than any chat bot.

Mom advice boards downvoting and chastising me when I describe/admit I’m in an abusive marriage

So sometimes, I dunno why, maybe I’m a glutton for punishment…. I will ask for advice on a parenting situation on mom or parent boards where DV isn’t usually a thing for most users…. And I get downvoted to hell or criticized when I mention ‘oh I can’t do that advice because husband is abusive’ and I explain over and over I have tried to leave over 4 times, but I can’t because all shelters in area are full, financial, he will cut off accounts and everything, abuse escalates, takes away keys, etc etc you all get it.

It just makes me really sad and angry. They always give the same advice: ‘you have to leave him or you’re messing up your kids for life!’ And I explain I have tried multiple times, I am just trying to find parenting advice or solutions that I can work around him with.

They always give the same advice: ‘stay with family or friends’ No surprise here! I have none! ‘Go to a shelter!’ Sorry all always full! ‘Get an advocate’ tried that there are like none available, or requires talking on the phone a lot with someone or going places and he tracks my locations, notices every phone call or checks the logs, etc. ‘Get your own bank account!’ Not allowed! And unfortunately, yeah, I work with him and he said he would fire me if I did that. ‘Get your own phone!’ Um how? He would notice the bank account deduction etc.

I just can’t believe the lack of empathy. It really demonstrates to me that I am all alone, and apparently people are appalled that I ‘just don’t leave’ ITS NOT LIKE THAT OMG! There is just never going to be any way out I think. They don’t know how lucky they are to parent with someone who isn’t abusive. It’s triggering really. It’s like they think I’m the bad guy, just like my husband does.

Just thought I would share it here, I know you all would understand and probably relate with similar issues. Any advice?

NEVER let your kids on Roblox

I rue the day I gave in and gave my kids Roblox about 10 months ago when they BEGGED me because other kids in school play it. If I had a Time Machine, and had ONE chance to change something) that is the only thing I would go back and change

My 8 and 9 year olds (now 9 and 10) have become little monsters I don’t recognize anymore. They won’t play with toys or barely talk to me except to demand snacks. Getting them off is a NIGHTMARE. Im talking holes in walls, tipped over furniture, pushing and shoving and screaming. I have tried limiting it, chauffeuring them around to camps and activities to get them away from it for as long as I can, but when they return home that’s all they want. I even have parental controls on and everything, still just as addictive. They don’t have any emotions on it. Just zombies.

I am gathering all the strength I can to just delete it. I’m going to have to like soundproof my house and remove stuff they can destroy. Please wish me luck. I have to do it. Of course it sucks too my husband doesn’t mind cause it ‘keeps them quiet’ 😡

DO NOT ever give in!!!!

Currently work with husband, unpaid for weeks, then hired as a 1099 and now he’s threatening to take it away

I currently work part time with my husband at an AV company in a warehouse. He is like a mid level boss, a director of inventory control. I went in for weeks doing official things like working with Zebra RFID scanners; testing and sorting, labeling and coiling DMX/XLR/ETHERcon/TRUE1, PowerCON/SOCA cables; doing invoices;
show prep and deprep, equipment staging, inventory audits and reconciliation, programming and repairing ProPlex and Luminex units, tracking inventory discrepancies, doing photography and measurements of equipment for clients, barcode recovery, programming DMX universes and addresses, preparing and sorting road cases, testing cables, etc etc etc.

Well ever since I started getting paid (the payroll lady said ‘enough of this intern bullshit, you do good work here) he gets all mad and annoyed I’m there and says I should only be there on show prep and deprep days like most 1099s. But I do much more than the 1099s who come in just for prep and deprep of shows. He says he’s going to get ‘in trouble’ with the main boss, who isn’t ever there that much, and I have been sending invoices for weeks. And a few other people have their spouses work with them even when it’s not only prep and deprep.

My issue is why won’t he just advocate for me and like ask the main boss if it’s ok for me to do this? The other spouses did. In fact he would still keep me unpaid probably if the payroll manager didn’t put me in the payroll. if I really do the work, all the other warehouse technicians and laborers really appreciate what I do. I would assume it is ok because I’ve sent the invoices for weeks and no one from upper management says a thing. They just pay me. Now he’s threatening to forbid me from coming in. This has become my job now. I have a purpose. I can now afford things for our kids I couldn’t before. He keeps saying eventually he will talk to the upper management to make me official, but he still doesn’t. And I don’t annoy him at work. I do my own things.

Should I just contact upper management and if I as a 1099 I can come in regularly? Like others do?

If not I’m just temped to get another job in AV working 12 hours 4 days a week (I have an interview ireand he will just have to do all the housework an taking care kids himself. Then maybe he would’ve thought twice about not advocating me for and having the damn courage to talk to his boss or just not worry about it all because I have been doing it and coming to work no problem. It would be punishing myself though because 12 hour days are long but I hate him trying to control my career like this. Give me hope and a livelihood and then try to just take it away.

Daughter named Gwen made fun of by peers

So my daughter’s name is Gwen (short for Gwendolyn) and the kids in her class make fun of her because she isn’t a Tragedeigh, Brazlynn, Andolynity, Arriaugh, Harleigh, Olivia, Quailynn, or a Kayleighann or whatever.

She always says she hates her name and wished I named her something more ‘normal’ like the other kids.

I am so confused, is there anything wrong with the name Gwendolyn? Perhaps I should have spelled it Gwenndoughlynn lol?

Or are kids just brutal and mean?

-Olivia is only included because it’s popular. Not a Tragedeigh. It’s a beautiful name, just common unlike Gwen
