The tabby is just holding on to that weight with all her strength. Idk what to do to get her down more. We went on a full wet diet, the cans are 170-177kcal. My vet calculated back in April that she should be getting 203kcal/day at her current weight, but that did absolutely nothing, so we have been dropping it and have seen some progress... But half a pound in 4 months? She is around 13.0lbs (max 13.2lbs) and her goal weight is 10lbs. She started at 13.5lbs. it just feels like we aren't getting anywhere.
I think she is conspiring with our other cat somehow to get more food. They look very suspicious sitting together.
Mind you this is a few feet from my big dog who she does not like. Maybe this is her way of torturing the dog?
So, I want to start getting my dog more exercise because he has a lot of energy but also really loves food (typical lab). He is starting to get chonky, though I restrict his food (he counter surfs, and I have two young boys who are not good about clearing their plates... we are working on that). He doesn't get out and run much, and walks don't seem to do much in terms of conditioning (he loves to smell everything, so it at least calms him down a bit). The thing is... I took him out with the bike and he did really good staying with me... But he didn't seem thrilled. He was not really interested in keeping up, so it was more like forcing him to trot (whereas when we are at a park that allows off leash dogs, I let him off leash and he gallops around super fast). The picture is him on the bike and the other is his usual happy face. Am I reading into this too much? Will he just get used to it?
So after vacation, when this cat completely reversed the small weight loss progress, we got back on the diet. She somehow managed to gain some weight (I'm thinking she accidentally got some of the higher calorie wet food). So I'm getting her on a full wet food diet.
Now the problem. We started it this weekend. She has lost weight... But she is only eating a little of the wet food. She literally won't eat the wet food because she doesn't like it. I have several different types, but like... She is losing weight because her pickiness is causing her to basically starve herself?? I know not to drop her calorie intake too fast so she loses a ton of weight because that's not good for them, but if I am providing the right amount of food but Ms Queen doesn't eat it... What do I do with that? She didn't touch one of the varieties, and she only ate half of the other kind. She has never been a huge fan of wet food, but then again that's probably why she got fat (that dry food kibble addict...)
For your litter robot, how accurate is the weight. I have a litter robot 4 and I have a cat that is going on a diet. Is the litter robot accurate enough to use to track her weight, or is it more good for getting a general sense of the trending weight?
We went on vacation for a week. The automatic feeders glitched or a wrong button was pushed and our chonk got ahold of the regular food. Or something went wrong... We had Poppy down to 13.1lbs (after months of trying... Her beginning weight was 13.5). And now she is right back to 13.5. Seriously, months to get half a pound off .. and 6 days to get it back.
I guess we are starting back from square one.
Is there anything happier than a dog that has been in the car for a long time finally getting to run at the beach? (Yes, this beach allows off leash dogs)
My very fluffy ragdoll needs grooming. Specifically shaving her belly/armpit/butt fluff. She has cotton like soft fur and no matter how often we brush her, those areas will get tangles that become mats. So anyone know of a good groomer?
Someone other than Alex the cat groomer... It's a long drive for me and I have other reasons I'd rather not discuss...
I have been working a lot recently (12 hour shifts) and when I finally finished my last day on, I got home and actually got to see my Marshmallow and realized that no one had kept up brushing her... And now she has a bunch of mats on her belly and armpits. What do I do?? I don't want a professional groomer shaming me and shaving her entire body.
We are redoing the lighting for this basement. It's a long area, very open area, and the ceilings are a little less than 7ft tall (so pretty short.) We are trying to decide how to do the lighting. What kind of layout, what kind of light, so many options!
Possibly recessed lights, but would that be like a giant spotlight? If yes, how many do we get? Every time we think about it we just keep coming up with more ideas and can't figure out what would be best. The ceiling is coming down and we have lots of open spots on our electrical panel, we just need to figure it out.
Please help with ideas that would be practical and give good lighting without feeling like you are being interrogated .
Original house from 1900s burnt down and was rebuilt in 1968. We think this wall was original because of some charred wood. But some of the cardboard is burnt as well... So I don't know if the cardboard is from the original house or the rebuild
We are taking down drywall in the basement of our house. It was originally built in the early 1900s or late 1800s, but burnt down and was rebuilt in 1968. This back corner apparently still has some original parts that didn't burn down (we know the foundation is original). The wiring is a pre 1950s telephone set up or something. But check out the window. That was added by the builders in 1968. Notice anything wrong? Yeah, basically the 2x4 right above the window is not doing anything for the structure... So that 3 foot span is being held up by the 2x4 top plate. So the side of the house and at least two floor joists have been supported by a 2x4 and the window frame for almost 60 years. Looking straight on, there is a definite bow. Now we have to figure out how to fix it because the window is just above grade.
Still not as bad as the point load we found sitting on plywood instead of the floor joist... That required some restructuring of the attic rafters and moving the point load onto the floor joist so the roof wouldn't collapse.
It terrifies me to think there are more things we just haven't found yet...
She was mostly white when we got her. She is listed as "Fawn" though who knows 🤷 but she went from a sweet, somewhat hesitant kitten to a crazy playful cat who enjoys laying just out of reach of my husband, but loves being in my lap 😆 she also enjoys running on the cat wheel, then getting zoomies and tearing around the entire house like a madwoman. She's almost 2.
Night 3 of giving wet food to picky eater Poppy. She has eaten almost all of the wet food. Still giving her 1/4 cup of dry food, which added to the wet food hits her goal calories for weight loss. And she liked the 2 fancy feast cans I tried more than the diet formula... Which is great because the diet stuff is expensive and fancy feast is decent. And has roughly the same calories. I've also gotten her playing with a feather wand that spins and finally found a catnip toy that has her actually acting like the crazy catnip influenced cat.
This is her after a play session. She basically decided to just flop on the floor for a while. In the basement where it's 20° cooler.
Though her sister is way more into it and gets intense and will do backflips which makes Poppy run and hide 🤦
Poppy. She is almost 2 years old and I stupidly led her and our other cat free feed on dry food. The other cat is good at self limiting, Poppy... Not so much. She is 13.3lbs and the vet says her ideal is 10lbs. So we started a diet. We have microchip feeders and she was getting 3/4th cup of Hills light weight formula (288kcal/cup). The vet recommended that amount. Several months later and she was still 13.3lbs. Odd, so we went to 1/2 cup. Few months later, still 13.3lbs. Our vet kinda shrugged and said some cats are "easy keepers" which I don't really know what that means, but ok.
We have a cat wheel. The other cat loves it, Poppy won't go near it.
Today I got wet food, so I'll give her the canned wet food and a little bit of dry food (trying to be at 180 calories, which is what that calculator thing said). She historically has not liked wet food, but maybe she will eat it if it's her only option?
Any other suggestions? She used to be a super spicy kitten and did zoomies all the time, but has definitely calmed down a lot and tends to just flop down and play with things nearby (like phone chargers...) and doesn't really chase things. She will do that crouch down with big eyes and look like she is about to punch, but never actually does.
Ok, first she is technically a torbie... But she counts, right?
Second, I was dumb and let her and my other cat free feed on dry food (they got canned food once a day). The other cat (a ragdoll) was fine self limiting herself... Poppy, my torbie, was not. At all. She is 13.4lbs and in talking with our vet, she should be closer to 10lbs. So yeah, she's FAT. For the last 6 months we have been giving her a diet. We have food bowls that use the cats microchip in order to open (so she can't steal food). We have been using Hill's light weight management dry food and the vet had us giving 3/4 cup per day. Did that for several months with no change. Talked to the vet again, and went down to 1/2 cup per day. We got excited because she went down to 13.2lbs... but then went to 13.3lbs and has stayed there.
Basically I am at a loss. I'm obviously not expecting her to drop 3lbs in a month (that would be bad) but it seems like nothing we are doing is helping. She can't steal food from our other cat, we are feeding less than her daily requirements, we have consulted with the vet. I don't really know what else to do.
I'll add that she used to be spicy and run all over and play chase with our other cat, but maybe it's her maturing (she is almost 2) or possibly the extra weight, but she is a lot more lazy than she was. We even got one of those cat wheels and our other cat loves it... But poppy refuses to get near it. She will run around with a laser pointer, but any physical toy she will catch and walk away with it trapped in her mouth.
So I don't really know what to try. Any helpful advice for getting her active or better diet food would be appreciated.
Other than that she is super sweet and cuddly, and will occasionally decide to bite your hand (that's the tortie part of her personality)
Tl;dr my cat is fat and I've done everything I can think of. Please help.
I had a pair of the Ultrarange Exo from 2 years ago that I love. I've worn them almost every day for the two years I have had them. They are finally getting worn down a bit (still totally functional) but also pretty beat up looking. I realized they don't make them anymore, so I tried the Ultrarange 2.0... hated them. So I started looking for second hand used shoes of the original. Nothing in my size. But I realized I could get them if I did a customized shoe. Expensive, but considering how much I loved these shoes and how often I wear them, it seemed worth it. Well I finally got them and I'm honestly disappointed. They fit fine, but where my old shoes have suede and real stitching (pretty quality and well made) the more expensive custom shoes have basic screen print looking accents. I feel like they are going to fall apart really fast. Has anyone else noticed this? Are they as flimsy as they seem?

Alternatively, anyone happen to have a pair of ultrarange exo in men's size 6 (women's 7.5) that they would be willing to part with?

Tl;dr, loved the original ultrarange exos, found out I could get the originals if I went through the custom shoe route, and the quality of the shoe is pretty sad. They fit and I will wear them, but not really what I was expecting.
