Hi all. I am struggling with good Chinese food in Amherst. I want to like Formosa, I really do. But I have been underwhelmed many times. Their Taiwanese stuff does not excite. I might be ordering the wrong things. Suggestions would be welcome.
Went to Lau Hu Tong two weeks ago. Talked em up big to my brother. Looks like they have stopped making their own noodles and wrappers. That "QQ" quality was gone. The chili wontons were premade lumps instead of those delicate swallowtails they've been, and the noodles were mushy, no trace of the delightful springy chewiness of the past. A huge letdown, and I was a bit embarrassed to hav raved so much to my brother.
Zhu's Bistro is gone. They may have been trying to be too many things to too many people, but I had 4 excellent meals from their Chinese menu. They were really really good, and now they are gone.
Lili's is fine, authentic as all get out whatever that means, but a bit one note for me, and a bit plain, and I'm not a huge hot and spicy fan.
I am so bummed! Rescue me people. And don't say Ginger Garden please.

I had a chart from Ball, real simple, listed the kind of fruit per cup (usually 1 1/3 cups), the amount of sugar (also listed no sugar), the amount of powdered pectin, maybe lemon juice. It was a simple grid, one pager. I lost it and I can't find it anywhere online. Does anyone have it? Could you please help? Thanks very much.
As a long time aficianado of the coney style dry meat sauce hot dog, I finally made it to Olneyville. As a place out of time, it was delightful. The hot dogs? Meh. Ruined, I thought, by the overly generous splotch of celery salt.
I see that there are at least two other places, EP and M and M. Are they any better? Are there more?
My ne plus ultra is George's Coney Island in Worcester. I had some pretty good ones at Graham's in Fall River some time ago. Teo's in Pittsfield MA is a strong contender. Real bakery rolls instead of factory fluff.

I create artist stations, like I'm sure all of do. But they get stuck in cycles where the same songs come up a lot. Selecting deep cuts helps a bit. Does anyone have any ideas around how to grow the algorithms on a particular station so more songs by the same artists and/or more artists in general show up. Thanks very much.
