5/11/2026: Approaching kennel, dog has content body language. I opened the kennel leashing her and she exited the kennel walking on a loose lead. I walkd her outside and placed her in a run, she was neutral in the run.

5/12/2026: easy to leash relaxed body, neutral eyes and ears. walked on a loose leash to and from run. quiet in kennel

5/13/2026: was brought as a move adopt in the morning. presented a relaxed body, mid wagging tail and soft open mouth. walked on a loose leash and entered kennel with no issues.

PM WALK THROUGH: when walking though row tessi began to low growl with a hard stare, tense body, raised hackles,and stiff tail. covered kennel and will continue to monitor. offered a pig ear as second enrichment.

💔12 year old Gracie lost her home because owners “don’t have time anymore.”

After more than a decade of life, this senior cattle dog was walked into a shelter and left behind alongside 2 year old Marley (posted separately) like neither one meant nothing at all.

And the fear in her eyes is absolutely heartbreaking.

Her eyes are wide and bulging with panic as she tries to take in everything happening around her. She’s literally frozen with fear. The barking. The smell. The slamming kennel doors. The strangers. You can see how overwhelmed she is, like she’s desperately trying to understand why she’s here after spending 12 years believing she belonged somewhere.

The only information her owners gave?
She’s kid friendly.

Nothing about what she likes, her routines, or the life she lived before this. Just a senior dog discarded when she became inconvenient.

At her age, this environment is especially cruel.

Senior dogs shut down and get sick fast in places like this. The concrete floors are hard on their bodies. The stress weakens them physically and emotionally. Every day in a kennel feels heavier when you’re old, scared, and grieving the life you just lost.

Hoping someone will see past the gray on her face and realize she still deserves a family too.

After 12 years of loyalty, Gracie deserved comfort and security in her senior years..

Not heartbreak and a ☠️ sentence.

5/11/2026: Did not stand, lying on blankets. Appears injured and kennel clean so left in kennel and will try to take out after cleaning with less rush.

5/12/2026: dog was laying down and as i approached him he hid his face in the corner of the kennel and when i leashed him he stayed laying down and when i tried to pick him up he thrashed ended up muzzling and getting him up from his behind and walked him to a different kennel.

5/11/2026: 48.0 lbs. 4/9 wound. s/o: this dog has some wounds on right ear and muzzle. There is some drainage from a wound on right shoulder. a: wounds. p: will treat with 1.25 75mg Carprofen SID x 10 days and 500mg Cephalexin BID x 10 days. Medications: Carprofen and Cephalexin.
