5/4/2026: Dog last night / this morning was scratching the kennel food trough. Blood was in the kennel and she was sticking her head though the trough.

5/5/2026: dog was sitting in her kennel and when i leashed him he walked lose leash outside and as i brought him back inside he walked lose leash to his kennel.

5/6/2026: Dog is at the front of the kennel loose body, wagging tail and vocalizing. Opening the kennel door he walks out on a loose leash, wagging tail and loose body. Walked to and from the runs no issues.

5/7/2026: Dog is at the front of the kennel wiggly body wagging tail and open mouth panting. On the leash he is jumpy, loose body wagging tail and erect ears.

5/8/2026: Walked out on a loose leash, wiggly body and wagging tail.

5/10/2026: dog walks lose leash and roams in the run but while its in the kennel dog begins to be very vocal as i walk other dogs or just walk by him.

5/11/2026: Stands at the front of the kennel as he presents loose body, wagging tail and soft close mouth. Walked on a loose leash as he followed the trail of treats. Vocal when passing by.

5/12/2026: Mr. Dog will be standing at the front of the kennel with a loose body, wagging tail and soft close mouth. Walked on a loose leash as he followed the trail of treats to the runs.

5/13/2026: Mr. Dog will be standing at the front of the kennel with a loose body, wagging tail and soft close mouth. Walked on a loose leash taking treats.

5/14/2026: vocal in the morning painted kennel when walking dog he is attached to my hip looking upwards, is vocal when i walk by kennel throughout day.

5/15/2026: this morning he didnt paint kennel and waited patiently to be leashed when walking he walks alongside me heeling when i stop . going to the kennel run he waits to be unleashed walking back he walks in between my legs taking steps when i step. went into kennel and remained quiet throughout cleaning.

5/16/2026: During both morning feedings and walks, Dog was overly aroused in his kennel; dilated eyes, heavy panting, jumping around the kennel, high pitch barking, forward body, and high wagging tail. He was walked on a semi-loose leash due to walking under and very close to me along with attempting to jump on me as well. He paid little attention to other dogs as he walked by them to and from the outside runs. Once back in his kennel, throughout the rest of the morning in his kennel he was non-stop vocalizing until morning walks were done and the aisle was quiet.

5/17/2026: dog was laying down and when i approached dog began to be very vocal as i walked by with other dogs and when i was going to leash him he had wiggly body and once leashed he walked semi tight to the run and was roaming around looking at the dogs from treatment and back in his kennel he walked lose leash and was quiet due to no one walking by that side.

5/18/2026: During both morning feedings and walks, Dog was vocalizing at anything that passed his kennel and painted his kennel as well. Throughout the morning he was jumping around in his kennel and knocking over his water bucket. He was walked on a loose leash with a wiggly body, ears up, open mouth smile, and fast wagging tail.

5/19/2026: During both morning feedings and walks, Dog was vocalizing at anything that passed his kennel. Throughout the morning he was jumping around in his kennel and whining non-stop as well. He was walked on a loose leash with a wiggly body, ears up, open mouth smile, and fast wagging tail. During the walk, he was walking very close to me and would sometime walk between my legs, circle around me, and jump on me as well. I offered him treats and he ate them and continued the previous behavior.

5/3/2026: Weighed 43.6 lbs. Normal exam. Has hairloss on back right leg. Dog also has a healed wound on back right as well. No treatment needed. No hairloss elsewhere. SS:NSF.

5/3/2026: Vaccinated with Rabies, DA2PP-V, and Bordetella. Dewormed with Pyrantel and given Advantage Multi flea prevention. HWTEST NAD NEG. Skin scrape NSF.

5/17/2026: Weighed 43.6 lbs. Intake condition normal.

Boss is an affectionate, people-loving senior who wants nothing more than to be close to his humans.
Once out of his kennel, he warms up quickly and becomes a total cuddle bug - leaning in for pets, belly rubs, and attention.
Volunteers consistently describe him as:

5/7/2026: When opening kennel she moved to back of kennel with legs tucked underneath her. Slowly placed leash on her and she began pulling back on leash. Showed no interest in treats or baby talk. Once fully walked in kennel she army crawled fast out of kennel into a new kennel.

5/8/2026: Upon opening kennel door she cowarded in the back of kennel. Slowly leashed and walked very slowly outside. Showed no interest in treats.

5/9/2026: Greeted at the front of kennel with a semi tense body and slow wagging tail. Walked on a loose leash outside.

5/11/2026: Gemini greeted volunteer at the front of the kennel with a worried expression, lip licking, and erect ears. She took a few steps out but then ran back into kennel. Volunteer lightly muzzled and carried her out, then tethered leash to wall.

5/12/2026: Ms. Gemini greeted volunteer at the front of the kennel presenting a worried expression when approached. Volunteer was able to leash her and she walked on a loose leash. When startled she would pull back some but used a lot of baby talk and treats.

5/14/2026: Timid in the morning. Went into the runs to potty. Vocal in kennel when people walked by in the morning.

5/15/2026: Had to move kennels due to her jumping her kennel and getting stuck on the wire part. Another ACT helped get her down.

5/16/2026: During morning walks Gemini was crouch walking on a loose leash to the outside runs. While in the run she jumped the fence between South D and runs and paced back and forth while watching other dogs. She walked back on a loose leash and was energetic outside as well. Once inside she became shy and timid, crouching back to her kennel. Throughout the morning she jumped around her kennel trying to jump out and pulling her sheet covering her kennel gate. Gemini ignored enrichment Kong given near kennel gate.

5/17/2026: During cleaning volunteer saw Gemini had knocked her water pail off the carabiner and flipped it toward the back of kennel and moved her bed overnight. Later when returned to kennel she began high pitch vocalizing and jumping midway up onto gate scraping the bars trying to escape.

5/17/2026: Dog in run jumped out of fence and was between the runs of South D and South C. Staff quickly approached and leashed her. Will make leash walk only.

5/15/2026: When showing customers dog in row passing by, Drake began to forward growl and charge at kennel door with erect ears. Walking away he alarm barked, later walking with another cat he did the same behavior towards volunteer.

Medical Notes:

This dog is heartworm positive (high positive). He has received intake vaccinations (DA2PP-V, Bordetella, Rabies) and flea prevention. No additional medical treatment has been documented at intake beyond stabilization and routine preventive care.

Behavior Summary:

This dog is fearful and shut down in the shelter environment. Staff report a tense, crouched body posture with tucked tail and whale eyes. He actively resists leash pressure, refuses to walk, and shows avoidance behaviors even with coaxing, treats, and verbal encouragement. Due to extreme fear and inability to safely leash-walk him, he required being physically carried during handling and kennel transfer.

🏷 This pet can only be tagged by a RESCUE group but please remember all rescues need FOSTERS in order to tag this pet and save their life. This pet cannot be fostered or adopted through the shelter, so please message the page if you can help!

4/29/2026: The dog is located on school campus by the front door not allowing the students to come in. The dog is black in color and medium in size.

📝 Shelter Notes:

5/1/2026: Very bouncy in kennel high pitch barking. When going to leash he has front paws on the kennel door I offered treats to redirect and he took some but got distracted quickly. Walked on a tight leash to the runs. When trying to remove leash he grabbed the leash from my hands and began to play with it bunny hopping around the runs. When coming back to retrieve he was at the front of the runs, was able to leash easily to bring back inside walked into kennel with no issues and was able to remove leash with no issues.

5/2/2026: Very easy leash him up, walks with loose leash, wagging his tail with the baby talk. He was running and playing in the outside runs.

5/4/2026: Went to HSN.

5/6/2026: Loose relaxed body, high fast wagging tail and soft open mouth with loose tongue. Walked on a loose leash heading in and out of south.

5/8/2026: Calm and quiet in kennel during am feeding and cleaning. Presented a relaxed body, soft open smiling mouth with loose tongue. He walked on a forward leash but did not pull very hard. 5/8/2026: Liquid stool noted. Diagnosed with possible worms/coccidia/diet/stress. Prescribed Panacur 12ml SID x 3 and Ponazuril, repeat in one week.

5/8/2026: Noticed pet had vomit and diarrhea in his kennel this morning. Dog is BAR, appears to be eating. Placing on vet eval for further evaluation.

5/13/2026: Weighed 39.8 lbs. GI noted.

5/15/2026: Coughing observed. Diagnosed with CIRD. Moved to treatment room and started on Doxycycline 150 mg SID x 10 days.

Greeted me at the front of the kennel with an closed mouth, soft eyes, and neutral body. Easily leashed, walked with loose leash outside to the runs. Mostly kept to self outside in the runs. Easily leashed and returned to kennel.

Gunner looks like a dog who waited for his family to come back for him. They never did. Now he’s on the euthanasia list.

Gunner was found abandoned with another shepherd, sitting in someone’s front yard refusing to leave.

Maybe they were dumped. Perhaps they waited there because they thought their people would return. All in all, his time is up and he will be put down tomorrow unless someone saves him 💔

4/23/2026: 2 german shep that are on her front yard and wont leave, they look abandoned

📝 Shelter Notes:

4/24/2026: Timid body language. Lowered head, whale eyes. I opened the kennel leashing him and he hesitantly exited the kennel. He held a tucked tail. He took a few steps in the row before freezing up and not moving further. I tried to baby talk him and he still didn't walk. I opened a kennel and he walked in on his own.

5/2/2026: Gunner presents a soft facial expression, wagging tail, and a neutral body. He walks on a loose leash. When i came back for him to the runs, i wrongly placed the leash on him, but stayed still until i fixed the loop on him.

5/4/2026: Gunner was laying down on his cot when I approached the kennel gate, he stood up and greeted me with neutral body and eyes, low wagging tail, and ears up. He did a good job of keeping his kennel clean overnight. He was walked on a loose leash and neutral to and from the outside runs and paid little attention to other dogs as he passed them by and vice versa. Once he returned to his kennel, he stood by the kennel gate for a time before laying back down on his kennel for the rest of the morning.

5/6/2026: relaxed body, low swaying tail and soft open mouth. walked on a loose leash heading in and out of south building. paid no attention to other dogs outside or inside.

5/10/2026: Gunner is quite in his kennel all day. He is usually on his bed with a relaxed body and a soft expression. When I approach he greeted me at the kennel door with a neutral body and a soft wagging tail. He walks on a loose leash and does his business in the runs.

4/23/2026: 61.0 lbs. Normal exam. Vaccinated with DA2PP-V.

4/24/2026: 61.0 lbs. Heartworms. Vaccinated with Bordetella and Rabies. Dewormed and given Pyrantel and Advantage Multi. HW test High Positive.

5/6/2026: 61.0 lbs. URI. S/O: Dog noted to have sniffling, sneezing, and clear nasal discharge. ACT is moving to TX. A: DDx CIRD. P: Move to Tx room and initiate treatment; Rx Doxycycline 300 mg SID x 10 days. Medications: Doxycycline and URI treatment.

quiet in kennel easy to walk out of kennel and tether to wall plays with plushies as well.

Ms. Bella stays on her bed for most of the day, she quite, kept her kennel clean.

pup stays in her bed and as i leashed her to tie her to the wall she sits patiently and once i place her back she lays down on her bed.

injected. Squinting. Possible entropion of lateral canthus of OD but unsure if

secondary due to severe conjunctivitis.

conjunctivitis is resolved. The right eye appears a bit more sunken in with severe

entropion of lateral aspect of lower and upper eyelid
