Feel like I lucked out with my RBT job
I got my current RBT job by meeting my employer at a job fair and then interviewing. I didn’t know anything about the ABA field before I got this job. I think I got really lucky with the clinic I was hired.
I know this stuff might be the bare minimum, but I’ve read so many horror stories on this subreddit that I wanted to share my experience.
I had two weeks of shadowing before I was ever alone and 1 on 1 with a client. The company is in-clinic and in-home but as a new RBT I am currently only in-clinic. If my client cancels, instead of losing out on the money the clinic will let me choose to fill the time. I see all of my supervising BCBAs in the clinic and can talk to them everyday. If I need a bathroom break or just a regular break during the session I can message a work group chat and one of my BCBA supervisors will relieve me.
Overall it is a very supportive environment and I am enjoying it so far.
