NSW Aus - Dinners

Private hospital in NSW Australia, mainly dinners, old photos

Photo 1 - veg, rice, some kind of chickpea dish (pastry dessert)
Photo 2 - veg, rice, quiche
Photo 3 - quinoa dish and salad
Photo 4 - veg, and honestly don’t remember, something vegetarian
Photo 5 - veg and vegetarian lasagna
Photo 6 - veg, potato, veggie patty with cheese
Photo 7 - veg, satay tofu with noodles

At the time, I did not feel like eating so would’ve rated it a 0/10, hindsight is 20/20 though and would rate it a 10/10 now as far as vegetarian hospital food goes.

Muzzles and Chihuahuas

So Hector likes to eat poo. Specifically duck poo. He’s already had one urgent visit to the vet after eating duck poo and developing uncontrollable diarrhoea, my whole couch was destroyed and wasn’t saveable.

I ordered custom basket muzzle for him, one made with short snouts in mind. I’m not stoked with the fit, but have managed to adjust it so that it stays on, but also doesn’t bother his eyes.

Has anyone else tried a basket muzzle or other type of muzzle with their Chi for a similar issue? Any tips, recommendations and suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

In these photos I’ve popped the muzzle on him to help him get used to it and to give him a break from his cone (he’s recently been neutered).

Recording conversations that are already being recorded by the other party

I’ve always assumed that if say, you call a phone company, and it says that the conversations are recorded, and no one objects to that side recording, that can essentially extend to be blanket consent for recording for the person calling. As in, they can record the call since the company is already recording it on their end.

Is there anything legally that indicates otherwise or is this somewhat accurate?

What to do about annual medical license review

So there’s a bit of backstory here so buckle in.
(NSW)

In 2025 I reported sexual assault and DV to police, on the third call I was picked up by an ambulance because I was becoming more and more distraught when they weren’t listening to me - one even said on the second call “there’s no DV here” and that they were “going to go do some real work.”

At the hospital the mental health team reviews me and refused to section me, they said they would’ve been scared too and understood my actions. The medical team then took it to the executive level to section me. This has been a recurring issue in NSW hospitals. While I was there blood tests showed I was 6-8 weeks pregnant (it makes sense looking back).

They didn’t tell me, and terminated that pregnancy without my consent, they didn’t discharge me unt my HCG reached 0 and I stopped saying I had been raped.

I made a formal request for my full medical records, and they sent me redacted copies “for my privacy.”

They then retaliated and made a report to transport NSW that I was an unsafe driver due to PTSD and Anxiety. Yes that is genuinely what it says.

I had to get reviewed by my GP who cleared me, and then I ended up being put back on my L’s until I re did my driving test, I have been driving for over a decade at this point.

Then today, I get a letter in the mail again. Telling me I need to do my annual medical review due to my PTSD and Anxiety.

I have never been in an accident while I was driving, my driving record is clean, there have never even been any not-at-fault insurance claims let alone at fault insurance claims.

When I’ve read up on this it states that PTSD and Anxiety are not conditions that transport NSW needs to be informed of, nor do they by themselves warrant a medical review.

I’ve sent an email to transport NSW, requesting they review the decision that I must do a medical assessment every year, because to be quite frank it’s ridiculous, it disrupts my ability to work, and it is a fresh reminder that the police didn’t document my disclosure, that the hospital gaslit me and terminated my pregnancy without my consent, and then retaliated when I asked for my full medical records - which as stated were redacted for my “privacy.”

Is there anything I can actually do about this with transport NSW other than requesting the review the decision to have me do a medical drivers assessment each year? I’m 28. I can’t do this every year for the rest of my life. How am I ever supposed to move on with my life with this happening every single year? I’m just at a loss.

Would anyone else be interested in a more friendly/logical place to discuss vegan issues?

This is something that crosses my mind every now and then when I come across the militant vegans in a lot of our subreddits.

I feel like a place where we can talk, but it’s literally part of the rules that we don’t discuss the topic of having pets being “not vegan,” or feeding carnivores vegan diets, or service animals, or discuss the age old discussion of “is there really any illness that requires eating animal product?”

Like a place where part of the rules is that we aren’t just aiming for others to be vegan and nothing else is acceptable, but where we are happy if we are able to get people to do “meat free Mondays” or to change some of the dishes they eat to vegan, or to go vegetarian on their journey to hopefully going vegan.

I feel like I’d call it logical vegans or something, logical because I suppose it’s encouraged to use a bit more common sense, not to mandate perfection from the world, and not to beat on people because they have pets and “having pets isn’t vegan.”

I’m curious if anyone else would like a space like this. Basically a place where discussions can be had, but we avoid the vitriol and name calling and constant need to one up other people’s veganism.

Not sure what to do.

So I’m currently dealing with an issue with my cats. As a result I’ve had to seperate them. My girl was on the enclosed deck during the day, and in the flat during the night. My boys are in the flat during the day and on the deck overnight. It took over a month to get my girl to the point where she would leave the bathroom.

Yesterday, my support worker arrived, and she stood there with the door wide open, I yelled out not to let the boys out on the deck, which she didn’t hear, so I said it again and she said okay and shut the door.

She didn’t tell me the boys got out on the deck while we had that exchange. About 10 minutes later a terrible fight broke out between my biggest boy and my girl, who is half his size. I had to get into the fight to break it up, and my hands are covered in scratches.

Now my girl is terrified to be on the deck. So we are back to her being in the bathroom during the day, and the flat at night. Almost all the progress I made with her is gone.

I was pretty upset, and my support worker didn’t say anything about it to me, she did say to my family member that she thinks I’m upset with her, but never said a word to me nor did she apologise. She’s known about the issues I’m having with my cats since the began.

My issues:
• she didn’t tell me the boys got out on the deck
• if she didn’t see the boys got out, then she didn’t even think to double check after she stood there with the door wide open
• she went to my family member about me being upset with her, who is not an approved person on my plan, and I am getting so tired of my support workers going around me to her
• she didn’t even apologise, just ended her shift early and said she’ll see me next time

I feel like I can’t trust her now. It might seem like a really small issue but this is something that could mean the difference between my girl having to be rehomed or euthanised and her being able to stay here. I’m also just so tired of my support workers not treating me like an adult and going to my family member instead of just talking to me.

Getting dents out of my shitbox

I have an old 2005 Toyota Corolla Sedan.

This car is my shit box. It’s used to be held together with zip ties, duct tape, hopes and dreams. Now it’s help together with zip ties, hopes and dreams.

My shitbox has many dents and scrapes. It’s the car my sibling and I learned to drive in. She reversed it into a truck she didn’t see once which left a pretty gnarly dent - truck was fine if anyone is concerned.

Every now and then I wonder how many of the dents I could fix DIY, if any. It’s not really worth putting the money into it to get it fixed up, as it would cost more than the car is worth, but I’m curious if anyone has ever tried to remove dents themselves and how they went about it.

Note: I know nothing about cars, I still drive a car with manual windows, this is not a necessity to fix, more curiosity wondering if I could do it.

Season 22 (2021 - COVID)

I’m up to rewatching season two and I want to yell at my TV.

Every time someone wearing a mask enters a room, where they are up close with other people, they take off the mask. When they walk away and are socially distanced, they put the mask back on.

Now of course this is painfully realistic when compared to what many people were doing in real life, but man it is driving me up the wall every time I see it.

Please help support Hector to get healthy & learn to be a dog

Help Hector Heal

Hector is a tiny 2.6kg chihuahua that was dumped on me after a family member neglected him for a year and a half. He never went outside, toileted on the floor, had never touched grass. He was living on cat food, had never had a bath and his nails were extremely long.

Hector is due to be neutered at the end of this week coming, which is covered up to $150 dollars. Hector also desperately needs to see a behaviouralist and trainer, as he is extremely fearful of the world around him.

He is due to be vaccinated, needs worming treatments and needs an overall health check.

So far I have raised $110 and this has gone towards ordering Hector a custom made muzzle. He is so small that he requires custom sizing for his muzzle, his harness and his collar.

Currently he has his custom harness, and collar, though I can’t afford to be out of pocket for those expenses right now.

On his GoFundMe I currently have posted a quote from a vet regarding the cost of his vet treatments needed, and I am gathering quotes from behaviouralists and trainers to and also. I’m about to update his go fund me showing the purchase of his custom made muzzle that was purchased using the current funds.

Please help this sweet boy get comfortable in the world. He needs so much support, wasn’t planned, and I just want him to thrive.

Just learned why the L comes first in LGBTQ+

I was just scrolling today and came across a post explaining the role Lesbians played during the AIDS epidemic. How lesbians rallied to donate blood, engage in activism and care for those affected by AIDS when many wouldn’t even be in the same room as them. Originally the acronym was GLBT, but after the AID’s epidemic of the 1980’s, activists and community leaders starting putting the L at the front of the acronym, as an acknowledgment for everything our fellow lesbians did for the wider community.

Attached to the post was this photo.

This really hit me in a deep way, the way the community banded together to support those in crisis, and the fact that it had such an impact that the acronym was actually permanently changed.

EDIT: Corrected my brain fart where I typed AIDS

Season 17 Episode 20

The last scene destroys me every time I watch it. That’s all. That’s literally it. I needed to share these feelings with other people that love the show and its actors.

Anxiety with harnesses and leads

Hi everyone, I’m back again to ask for advice regarding Hector.

Due to where he was most of his life, before he came to me he’d never even worn a collar, let alone a harness and lead.

I’m working on training him to enjoy the harness, but I can see it stresses him. He will shake off frequently when wearing the harness, and yawn. He also often will refuse to walk if he’s on a lead.

I’m working primarily on desensitisation and getting him to associate the harness and lead with good things (food), but I’m wondering if anyone has any tips on what else I might be able to do to help him with this

Alcohol in the Coles app

Since when does Coles advertise so much alcohol in their other food categories?

I’m doing an online order and I can’t scroll through the vegan and vegetarian section without having to scroll past whole sections have alcohol mixed in with the actual food.

I’ve been sober 2 1/2 years and don’t really need it being shoved in my face more than it already is, is there a way to set it so it doesn’t display them?

PMR Dog feeding calculator

So I’ve been feeding my three cats raw for a long time and they’re doing great, to feed them I use a calculator that calculates not just how much of each food category, but also how much of certain key vitamins and minerals may be missing and how much to add, if any.

I recently had a chihuahua sort of dumped on me, he was owned by a family member who was neglecting him badly. He was living on cat food most of his life so the first thing I did was get him on dog food - he’s on leaps and bounds at 50/50 dry food and the sausage of meat.

Ideally long term if he stays here with me I would like to swap him to raw as well. I want to make sure I’m getting it right, and was hoping that there is a calculator for dogs somewhere that’s similar to the one I use for my cats.

I know dogs have different requirements from their diet so I just want to make sure I’m hitting everything this little guy needs to thrive.

If anyone has any suggestions it would be greatly appreciated.

Hector (formally Chilli) now has his belly bands. I got them as he seems to leak a bit throughout the day so it’s just to stop him from getting my lounge and bed dirty - though he’s doing so well at not toileting inside now!

At first he started not weeing or pooing in my flat, but out on the deck instead. Then he stopped weeing overnight and was only pooing on the deck. Last night was his first night of doing neither! He held on for both until we came out out to walk this morning.

Now I have a question. I know socks and shoes for dogs are not recommended in hot weather as they use their paws to cool down. What about for cold though? The temperatures here are dropping as low as 4°C overnight at the moment, with highs around 20°C during the day. It’s currently approx 8:15am and the temp is 12.8°C while we’re walking.

He seems to really not like when the grass is wet from the frost overnight, and when it’s really cold. He has a jumper and a puffer jacket, but I’m wondering if little shoes might be worthwhile for the nights and mornings where it’s frosty and wet and cold.

I’m curious is anyone here as tried them with their Chi’s and what their experiences were like?

Does anyone else’s majestic potato sneeze a lot?
I’ll obviously get him to a vet, but he sneezes so much and I’m curious if this is a common/normal thing to expect with the little gremlins.

This tiny 2.6kg Chihuahua is the most recent addition here in my household of cats…

He’s a foster currently, his owner finally accepted she couldn’t look after him properly due to her disabilities.

Yesterday he walked on grass for the first time in at least 9 months.

Yesterday he wore a collar for the first time.

Yesterday he moved to a diet of dog food rather than cat food for the first time in at least 9 months.

Yesterday he walked on a lead for the first time ever.

Today he will try pet mince for the first time, continue to practice only going to the toilet outside, and go for his first ever trip to the groomer to get his very long nails cut.
