Annoying Requests, how do you deal with them?

You know when you're playing a Techno set and someone suddenly asks for Reggaeton? Or you're playing Hip Hop and someone requests Trance?

That's just part of being a DJ, and everyone handles it differently.

Open Format DJs have more freedom to switch between genres, but even they need to wait for the right moment. Otherwise, the whole set can lose its flow and stop making sense.

How do you deal with requests that just don't fit the vibe of your set?

I'm currently developing a game called DJ Life Simulator, and this week I added a minigame inspired by this exact situation.

If you reject the request, you lose some crowd points. If you accept it, you have 60 seconds to play the requested track or genre. If you don't, the request pops up again, this time even bigger and more annoying on the screen. 😅

Do you think that captures the experience pretty well? Haha.

Drunk People Close to the DJ Booth

This week I started adding fun minigames that mimic real life to my DJ Simulation game, like when the sound is too high or like you can see in the video, when some annoying drunk gets too close from the DJ Equipment and your heart starts beating faster, worrying about what might happen!

Hello DJs and Gamers, I'm making a DJ Simulation game that teaches you how to be a DJ in real life!

You can play by using mouse and keyboard or you can even connect some real DJ gear to your PC or Mac USB and use it as a controller!

It will be released on July 21 th and I'd love to get to 3k wishlists until launch, can you help me out?

Thanks a lot and god bless you!

In my DJ Game you can use your Rekordbox Library!

I'm making a game that simulates DJing and teaches you for real performances!

You can play using mouse and keyboard or by connecting a real usb DJ Controllers (From any brands like Pioneer DJ, Serato, Hercules, Denon, Traktor, etc...).

And recently I added a functionality that allows you to export your Rekordbox XML database and import it into the game (All track informations and metadata are imported as well).

In this game you can Customize your own DJ, learn with Interactive Lessons and play the Career Mode with audience simulations and Challenges.

You can earn money and improve your outfit.

It was created to help beginners with one interactive and progressive way, to have some fun while learning.

Many people don't have money to buy expensive DJ Gear or are a little unsure about joining an expensive DJ course, so this is a greate and cheap way to start learning.

The game is called DJ Life Simulator and there's a free demo on Steam, wishlist it if you can, thanks a lot!

Oh, you can also buy the early access in our website and already receive the game with several functionalities and earn an online DJ Course.

This week I finished uploading 10 lessons to my DJ Simulator.

The Academy mode teaches you how to DJ interactively, so you canchoose a lesson and you'll be guided step by step on which moves you need to do to learn a new technique.

The lesson from the video is "Complete transition using volume faders and eqs", one of the most used transition styles used in the industry.

You can play the game using mouse and keyboard or connect some real DJ gear to it (Supports Pioneer DJ, Serato, Hercules, Numark, etc... but some need custom mapping on the configurations to work properly)

We already have over 5000 players on the demo and 2300 wishlists on steam.

I'm an indie solo developer pursuing the dream :D

I'm very happy with the progress and we have 0 refunds so far, so people are really linking it.

Hope you guys like it too!

DJuced is a great tool, it has everything you need to start djing, use fx and etc...

But sometimes it might be a little too scary for beginners due the large amount of buttons, menus, configurations and it also does not come with any songs on it.

I’ve been a DJ for 7 years and a teacher for 4 and I’m also a game developer, so I decided to create a game that has the main functionalities from DJuced and Rekordbox and even DJ Controllers MIDI connection, but inserts gamification and interactive learning on the process.

So even 100% beginners can learn step by step how to do some basic mixing in the Academy Mode and hopefully I’ll be able to replicate more and more functionalities and lessons into it.

The project is called DJ Life Simulator and this month I already sold custom game launchers to 3 big schools here in Brazil, that really liked the idea.

The game also has already over 4,000 downloads and is approaching 2,000 wishlists on Steam. We have over 30 partnered artists with licensed tracks in the game too.

So I’m here with you to hear your thoughts about which features are the most important to have in the game?

Which lessons are extremely important and would be very cool to learn interactively for me to add to the academy mode?

I know that a lot of gatekeepers are against gamification and don’t want djing to be any easier, but I try not to listen to them, since my target audience (Beginner DJs and DJ Schools) are heavily supporting the project, both finnancially and emotionally 🙂
