CDJ 3000/ firmware bug?

Both 3000’s provided at my girlfriend’s gig today— play button did nothing when in vinyl mode so they were forced to play in cdj mode. We noticed the loops would illuminate/blink when pressing play but nothing would happen, checked all buttons, reverse, factory reset, etc… we tried everything except reinstalling old firmware as the av guy was unable to handle that. The struggle lol

DJM-V10 - Weird PFL input behaviour

Hello gang,

I'm noticing this strange behaviour on channel 1 (and sometimes channel 3) on my V10.

2xCDJ-3000x connected digitally to channels 1 and 2, and a CDJ-3000 connected on channel 3.

Quite regularly, out of nowhere, the input signal on channel 1, will jump up by +3dB. Sometimes the input signal jumps up the same amount on channel 3 as well, but never channel 2.

To mitigate it, you have to power off the mixer and reboot it, for the issue to only come back again after X amount of time. X equalling, anything from instantly to an hour.

This will happen with any track, and to prove the issue, I've used the Inst. Doubles function across the other 2 decks so that the same track is playing at the same point in time.

All the Trim and EQ pots are set to 12 o'clock on all channels, Send and Beat FX are turned off, as well as the I/O effects and filters. Attenuation settings on all 3 decks are at -3dB, and I’ve swapped out the SPDIF cables.

Anyone else seen this?

I've raised a support ticket to AT, and I've got a video of the issue here:

Hey, need some help with my Pioneer CDJ-850

The PC / USB / DISC source select buttons are stuck pressed in and won’t click anymore (photos attached). Already tried compressed air and contact cleaner spray around the buttons, no luck.

Anyone had this issue before? Is this likely a worn tak switch that needs resoldering, or something else? Also wondering if it’s worth attempting myself or better to send it to a repair shop.

Thanks!

Best home setup to prepare for playing on CDJ-3000s?

I’m trying to build a home setup that’s as close as possible to what I’ll find in clubs, and I’m torn between two options.

Option 1: Buy a Pioneer XDJ-XZ.

From what I’ve read, it’s the closest all-in-one unit to the CDJ-3000 experience. I also like that it supports FLAC, seems to have a faster workflow than older players, and the jog wheels and overall feel are apparently very similar to the CDJ-3000s.

Option 2: Buy an Allen & Heath Xone:92 and pair it with XDJ-700s.

The problem is that the Xone:92 is my favorite mixer by far, and I’d love to have one at home. However, I’m worried that the XDJ-700s are getting quite old. From what I understand, I’d need to prepare my USBs differently in Rekordbox compared to what I’d use for CDJ-3000s, and I don’t want to build a workflow that doesn’t translate well when I play in clubs.

So my priority is to practice at home in a way that makes the transition to club gear as seamless as possible.

If you were in my position, which setup would you choose? Is the XDJ-XZ closer to the real CDJ-3000 experience, or is it worth sacrificing that to have a Xone:92 at home? I’d especially love to hear from people who regularly play on CDJ-3000s in clubs.

Budget DJ Monitors with Good Bass?

Hey everyone,
I’m a complete beginner just getting into DJing and I recently picked up a Pioneer DDJ-FLX4. I don't have much technical knowledge about audio gear yet, so I'm looking for some guidance from the community.
I need to buy a pair of monitor speakers to practice with at home. My budget is pretty tight, but I want to mix music that relies heavily on the low-end, so I'm hoping to find something that can cleanly produce low frequencies down to around 40Hz.
What are the best budget-friendly monitors that can plug straight into the FLX4 and still give me that punchy bass? Are there specific brands or sizes I should look for as a beginner?
Thanks in advance for the help!

Wanted: Pioneer DM 50D Right-side Passive

As the title states. Can someone point me in the right direction on buying a Right-side Passive monitor, DM 50D. I have been teaching myself DJing. I do have a working pair of DM 50Ds, but I don't want to take the right-side passive one out of the house. The setup I have put together- laptop, a small receiver, and either FLX2 or FLX4, and a
300W Portable Power Station is for my Mobile Setup. But I think I'm going to use the FLX2. I've been practicing with Rkorbx and Djay Pro. I even purchased a Monitor Travel bag for the DM 50Ds. All that is missing is the right-side Passive monitor. The first Sunday in August is my test run, I have a small gig which I'm doing for free for about 50 people. Any help will be greatly appreciated.

RB forcing me to update and subscribe?

Went to update my library today and was greeted with this pop up. I am currently running Rekordbox 6.6.7 and have never seen it before. I have a DDJ1000 which I thought meant I didn’t have to pay for any subscription.

Terrified of converting the library in case it just erases years of playlists, cues etc. Should I just cave to its demands, or is there a better way around this?

What’s after the new CDJ-1500X?

Just some speculation here. Recently picked up a pair of XDJ-1000mk2s and absolutely love them so far. Obviously they’re a bit dated which doesn’t bother me too much but there are some feature i do miss that the 1500X do have. Shortly after my purchase AlphaTheta released the 1500X (great timing). I know they’re getting a lot of hate but honestly i kind of like them! My biggest gripe, and honestly the main reason i won’t be purchasing them is the Jog Wheel size…. not really sure why they thought having a 10.1 inch display with a half sized jog wheel was a good idea but who knows…

anyways, i love the full sized jog wheel on my AZ and my now XDJ-1000mk2s. The half sized jog wheels just make it feel so cheap, similar to the RX3 which i hated the jog wheels on.

Main point here is i wonder if we’re looking at a similar situation as the Opus Quad and AZ. Both are fairly similar but also different in their own respects. The opus quad was released and about a year later the AZ was released. The 1500X feel very Opus Quad adjacent to me as in they’ve released this product that is a bit gimmicky and maybe in about a year or so they’ll released a better version of the 1500X. Maybe with the same screen size (or smaller) but full sized jog wheel but similarly striped down like the 1500X is now.

What do you guys think?

DJ name/business name suggestions..

Looking for some suggestions for a dj name/possibly business name down the line if I decide to do lighting/karaoke

Definitely need a good DJ name though!

My real name is Jesse Morgandale. I’ve never really liked my name, people always get it wrong but it’s pretty easy to remember for the most part so open to all suggestions.

My sound cloud is Jdmorg which is my go to for everything, email etc.

Apple Music on the AZ playlist question.

I’m playing a 50th party tomorrow on a XDJ AZ and have been given some Apple Music playlists by the client.

My question is can I leave a playlist to run without me behind the decks to change the music ? If so how, and if not is there a work around ?

Thanks in advance 🙏🏻

Annoying Requests, how do you deal with them?

You know when you're playing a Techno set and someone suddenly asks for Reggaeton? Or you're playing Hip Hop and someone requests Trance?

That's just part of being a DJ, and everyone handles it differently.

Open Format DJs have more freedom to switch between genres, but even they need to wait for the right moment. Otherwise, the whole set can lose its flow and stop making sense.

How do you deal with requests that just don't fit the vibe of your set?

I'm currently developing a game called DJ Life Simulator, and this week I added a minigame inspired by this exact situation.

If you reject the request, you lose some crowd points. If you accept it, you have 60 seconds to play the requested track or genre. If you don't, the request pops up again, this time even bigger and more annoying on the screen. 😅

Do you think that captures the experience pretty well? Haha.

If you'd like to check out the game, here's the link: https://djlifesimulator.com/

DJM rec app recorded mix at half speed / glitchy audio?

My entire mix sounds half-speed & glitchy :(

Am I cooked? Or is there a way to fix this with Ableton?

AlphaTheta 1500X lets the crowd request songs & message you

At first I thought this was a joke, but this is straight from the 1500X product page. They’re really setting this up so the audience can see what you have loaded and tell you their preference 😂

I built a tool to auto-place Rekordbox hot cues.

Manually prepping tracks and hunting for drops and breakdowns is easily the worst part of importing big playlists.

I have a bit of a programming background, so I decided to just build a custom tool to do it for me. The idea was simple: let software analyze the audio structure and automatically place the cues.

The workflow is pretty smooth now. I export my Rekordbox XML, feed it into my program, and it spits out a new XML with up to 8 hot cues perfectly placed. It's been incredibly solid for bulk library prep and handles Extended Mixes without breaking a sweat.

Just curious if anyone else relies on automation for their track prep? If anyone wants to try out the tool I built to see how accurate it is on your own library, drop a comment and I'll share it with you.

New XDJ (rx4?) - CDJ 1500x

Anyone think that there's a possibility that we get a new XDJ (rx3 replacement) given the new 1500x? Seems like now there's a fairly substantial new piece of kit with better features than the rx3 they may finally give us a new replacement?

AlphaTheta...just give me this in Rekordbox Performance mode

Let me just have two of these side by side on my monitor whenI'm using Rekordbox in Performance mode. I just want to not have to squint at everything. Yes, I know..."old people problems". Help a guy out. Clearly you want this to be the design language for users on your hardware, give your software users the same courtesy, please.
