Xteink X4 Pro full details are available! X4 vs X4 Pro vs X3 spec and size comparison

Noticed this page: https://www.xteink.com/products/xteink-x4pro is now updated with the full details and specifications, even though the launch is supposed to be tomorrow.

It confirmed the last few bits of missing info, like the exact size of the device and the function of the buttons.

I've already used all of the info I found there and used it to make the size comparison and spec comparison image from that data. If you want to make another size comparison you can do so here, other spec comparisons here.

E Ink Monitor comparison tool I made (compare specifications, features, and size)

Tried to map out the entire E Ink monitor landscape, which resulted into this:

https://comparisontabl.es/e-ink-monitors/

I found 19 different monitors by 7 brands, and have added all of them to compare on their specs (display size, resolution, refresh rate, ports, built-in speakers, dimensions, weight, and more) and features (front light, touch screen or not, stand features/adjustability and more).

You can filter the table on the important specs and features, and sort the columns to quickly find the biggest displays, highest refresh rate, lowest price, etc.

There's also a size comparison tool available (below the table) where you can compare the monitors on size, and also add a bunch of different reference items to get a better idea of the size.

Hope this is useful to some! Definitely also check out reviews (My Deep Guide has the best ones on monitors IMO) to get a better idea on how they actually look and work before buying. But the chart should give you a good idea of which E Ink monitors are out there.

Let me know if you have any questions, feedback, or if there are any products I've missed that you'd like to see added. I'm also considering adding RLCD monitors to this as those might be an interesting alternative as well.

List of all European e-reader brands (Kindle alternatives) + spec and size comparison tool

Wanted to share my knowledge on e-readers, which is a topic I'm pretty well versed in. If you want to get away from Kindle and the Amazon ecosystem, and choose a European alternative, these are the brands you can choose from:

- PocketBook (Switzerland)
- reMarkable (Norway)
- Tolino (Germany)
- Vivlio (France)
- inkBook (Poland)
- Bemi (Poland)
- Paperslate (France)
- Durobo (Netherlands)
- Woxter (Spain)
- SPC (Spain)
- Silvergear (Netherlands)
- Montblanc (Germany)
- Bookeen (France)

PocketBook is the biggest and most well-known brand when it comes to e-reading. When it comes to notetaking; reMarkable gets really good reviews.

While these are all European brands, as far as I know none of them are actually made in Europe, but at least buying from these brands will mean the profits on the device sales will go to European companies, rather than the US or China. Pocketbook for instance has their own bookstore which means you're buying your books from a European company as well. Some run Android, which means you can more easily install any (European) bookstore app or your local library app.

All e-readers use E Ink displays, meaning they get their displays from the E Ink Corporation, which is Taiwanese. As far as I know, they have factories in both Taiwan and China. Most of the devices for all brands manufactured in China. So no way around that, really.

If you want to compare specs of the available devices, I maintain (as far as I know) the most comprehensive e-reader comparison site, which you can find here: https://comparisontabl.es/e-readers/

To only see European devices, or those from a specific country, you can select those using the 'Brand origin' drop-down filter. You can use the other filters to filter by specs and features, and the size comparison tool (below the comparison table) to compare sizes of the devices and a bunch of reference items.

Please note that the tech for my site is not yet EU-only (it's hosted in the EU though), still working on that.

If you have any questions about e-readers, let me know!

Built a 3D bookshop experience. Walk around & pick up books. Read the cover, a sample or the full book!

What the title says. The idea was to create a fun and interactive way to discover something to read. It's the bookshop experience, but online; so you can more naturally discover something to read, without algorithmic recommendations.

You can pick up books, turn them over to read the back cover, and open them to read a sample. About half of the books are completely free: either public domain or creative commons. For those, you can actually read the full book. The built-in reader automatically saves your location in the book so you can continue reading where you left of on return. All of your progress, settings etc are saved in the browser.

The reader has a built in dictionary, search function, notetaking capability, TOC, and a sharing function to share the exact page you're reading.

Also created some content that's updated daily (daily puzzles, daily short story, featured Wikipedia articles) so there's always something new to come back to.

Still working on fixing the few remaining bugs and doing more optimization. Please let me know how it runs for you. Was having some trouble getting it to run on iPhone, as apparently the amount of VRAM to work with is quite limited.

Used Three.js for the 3D environment, and Foliate JS for the reader (as it does EPUB, PDF, and CBZ). Since the rest of the site runs on WordPress, I'm using a WordPress plugin to manage the book database and configuration.

Would love to hear your feedback and suggestions! If you have any questions, let me know!

Also; let me know if you've discovered any Easter eggs :)

Samsung Galaxy Z Fold Wide & Fold 8 size comparison (tool) based on rumored specs

https://preview.redd.it/0k7ysjr24o3h1.png?width=1200&format=png&auto=webp&s=6d62d8f0d08b90734d6d21f41baadef9db124306

For anyone interested in doing a size comparison, you can use SizeComparison.com to already compare the rumored Samsung Galaxy Z Fold Wide and Z Fold 8, as well as hundreds of other phones, tablets and reference items. The rumored Apple iPhone Fold/Ultra is also available. You can add products to the canvas and drag them, rotate them, overlay them, etc.

Here's a link to the comparison shown in the image: https://comparisontabl.es/size-comparison/#sc=N4IgDiBcDaoJZRAdgBwBYUgDQgB5SQFYkcBPKAZkIDYBfLeRVNATmzygEZqWzKb6jSMmooK7fJE40+kakk6CQCYYRQAmTDkk0ADLKp0GyxGiTr1EqIRa8Q5OQqUqQGdUiuQi++9ZR0AXRwAeyhQAGcoXQA6ajQcACMAFy4cAGNORABiADNdAFM0-N12AAsAJxTIJPKAV3zaWiA

Made this size comparison for those who might find it useful:

https://preview.redd.it/akrfb4q81lzg1.png?width=1280&format=png&auto=webp&s=38c2acff58bc90ca5eba381cdaefdac59d9c8ea9

So the Paper Pure is more compact than the reMarkable 2, even though it has the same display size.

Here's a link to the exact comparison from the image:
https://comparisontabl.es/size-comparison/#sc=N4IgDiBcDaoJZRAJgBxIMwgDQgB5QE4A2AVhwE8oSMBfLeRAFhRMezygwAYKrb6QCSCADsKAIwj2+SOgIFekaujoNh41JhwyiKHiEpL+akIxFIk0ziMXLVgpmiJXICg5wL6ATlHGNx9kKmKERs2r7iKLbGDsLMSFLhkCJcboZ+IjQAujgA9lCgAM5QXAB0NiAA7lAALl4ArgCmOABGNb44AMbiiADEAGYAhv0AJo2WXZbCvY0j-YyNPTj9xZDibiOrkjgAFi21Dc0gO17tkHVNNDRAA

You can add other items to compare (basically any e-reader/E Ink tablet, lots of non E Ink tablets, smartphones, reference items, and more), drag the items around, make them semi-transparent and overlay them, etc.

Tagged as self-promotion as I'm the creator of this tool : )
