So I'm still only on season 2 of the show so maybe the future will tell me more but idc about spoilers here so, by lurking around in this sub, I already found out the gigantic reason for the beef between Beth and Jamie.

Regardless of whether I think it's a good take story wise, I'd like to know if you think that Beth might've forgave Jamie had he expressed genuine contrition, or if she would've hated him even more for it?

Because thus far, I'm still on the fence. At the beginning of the show, they have an antagonistic relationship but Beth doesn't seem to mind too much being in his vicinity (she calls for him to pick her up when she's drunk for example) and he doesn't act very apologetic (he's superbly annoyed and even criticise her whenever he can).

I feel like there's something missing. And then even have a "moment" of sort in Jamie's car after he picked her up where there's almost tenderness on his part AND she accepts it (seemingly).

Soooo I'm currently at the point where Meredith's interference has been found out, Derek is angry with her and that compromises their adoption of Zola.

Now I won't reash what's probably been said a hundred times about Derek's rigid view of the world and Meredith's more fluid understanding of right and wrong.

What I'm quite upset about is that, technically, the chief and Derek messed with the trials first, by including Adele when there were other people on the waiting list far ahead from her.

They made an unilateral decision to include her because she's the chief's wife, thus bumping down the chances of one other person of getting the treatment. It might not be as overtly wrong as what Meredith did but it's still the same end result: someone who should've been on the trial was denied a chance because of personal affiliations.

My point isn't to say that it's entirely comparable: I would definitely agree that what Meredith did is far worse. But I'm supremely annoyed that Derek gets to tell her that she doesn't know right from wrong when it could be argued that he doesn't really know either. He's just staunchly certain that his way is the right way, no matter what.

Edit: people are reading this and jumping to the conclusion that I'm trying to absolve Meredith of her responsibilities, which couldn't be farther from the truth. I'm appalled by what she did. Please, learn to read.

Edit 2: I'm just sad now. People aren't engaging in good faith and it's depressing. I was happy at the idea of discussing this but you guys are too weird. You didn't even read the post in its entirety.

Soooo I haven't watched Grey's in over a decade, and I'm currently binging it. I'm at episode 21 of season 6 and I'm actually in tears laughing because you guys were right.

Owen sucks.

I thought that you were all exaggerating, or perhaps that it came out later down the line but nope. He's already a gigantic turd.

I was already on the fence with his anger issues, his untreated PTSD that he refuses to seriously face on, and his habit of making everything about himself but with this episode, it's over.

I was already pissed at him when he tried to fuck over a woman's legal right to die because he was heavily triggered by it. I get it. He lived something traumatic. But he KNOWS that. Better than most vets, by virtue of being a medical practitioner, he knows what's happening to him and he knows what he has to do. But he only ends up doing something because Cristina recoiled in front of his anger.

And then he tries to get Teddy kicked out? He lies about it? He's angry at Meredith because she KNOWS and is rightfully upset?!

That man is a turd. You guys were right. He's not as hateful to me as Karev but I find him unpalatable.

And I'm kinda shocked that you weren't exaggerating his flaws when it comes to his romantic partners.

I'm currently rewatching Grey's for the first time in a decade and I'm at season 6 episode 16 when, completely unaware of a patient's history, Mark is able to look at a scan and say (to Callie's and Derek's astonishment) that the patient is deaf and that he can fix it.

He says it matter of factly, and recognises immediately that problem even though it wasn't even the actual medical issue that had brought that patient in the hospital.

And it hit me once again how seriously underplayed Mark's talents are.

Derek is constantly praised, Addison is, Hell all attendings are. Somehow, this hospital is full of the geniuses of that generation and the next. Yet Mark is never praised to the level he deserves.

I can't remember the season nor the episode but once, he managed to diagnose that a man's serious headaches came from an inflamed nerve in his nose - a nerve, you know, Derek's thing!

(Edit: Lexipedia made the headache's diagnosis, thanks to the people pointing that out! He still is the one who fixed it though, so I'll let it there)

He grows skin from nothing. When Derek had troubles finding a way to extract a tumor from a patient because it had to go through the nose, he called on Mark to help him create the tool that would do the trick.

Mark is two times board certified. He is a machine. Addison said that in the OR, he never loses his cool. He's always in control in there. He has great bedside manners. He's smart, brilliant even.

And he doesn't get half as much credit as he deserves.
