Higher Level Teaching Positions in China?

A bit of background about me. Caucasian (I know people want to know). I was a former ESL Teacher in Vietnam for 6 years. After that, I went back to America and started a business in the financial industry. I am now in my mid-30s, and I would classify myself as "semi-retired."

I hold two master's degrees. I have an MBA and an M.S. in Curriculum and Instruction.

I would like to move back to Asia and work for a school. However, I would prefer to work in a position other than a classroom teacher. I am just beginning my research on China and was wondering if anyone had any insight or maybe the best websites to look for a job?

Willing to relocate. No wife or kids. No criminal background. US Citizen.

Education first or last with two master's degrees?

I am self-employed, and to be honest, semi-retired. However, I used to teach English as a secondary language in Asia when I was in my 20s. I have been getting the itch to return to the classroom and live overseas again.

The last decade or so I have spent in finance. I haven't taught in 10+ years. I do hold two master's degrees: an MBA and an M.S. in Curriculum and Instruction.

Applying to schools in Asia, and I am wondering if I should lead with my education at the top of my résumé or if I should put it on the bottom?

GI Bill Question (Degree + Cert)

I am about to start my graduate degree in education. Everything has been approved, and I have my start date.

I also want to get my CELTA. A CELTA from Cambridge is a qualification for teaching English as a foreign language.

The CELTA is a 14-week online course and costs about $2,000. It is a certification, and not an actual degree.

My question is: Am I able to take the CELTA while enrolled at my university, pay for the CELTA out of my own pocket, and then ask for reimbursement?

Filed Taxes, Received A CP05 Notice, Haven't Heard Back 90+ Days

Filed my taxes in early February. A few weeks later, I received a CP05 Notice. The notice pertained to a question about being in a combat zone (military).

I filled out the requested form within 24 hours and explained that I was on jump status (military code for this is combat pay). I was not in a combat zone; I was only on jump pay. I told them I am not requesting for any deferrment or incentives as I was NOT in a combat zone.

They received that in early March and told me to wait 60 days.

I received a code 503: suspension of tax collection - military deferment backdated to April 6th.

Then, I received a code 502: removed suspension of tax collection - military deferment backdated to April 6th as well.

Since then, radio silence. No new updates. No new notices or anything. Any ideas? I reached out to my state congressmen and Senators for assistance because I don't know what else they need or how to get the ball moving again. So far, I have forwarded all my tax documents to state representatives, but I still have not gotten anywhere.

Help or insight is appreciated.

Curriculum and Instruction – M.S.

Can this degree be completed 100% online? Or at some point, will there be a classroom presentation or an in-person requirement?

Finished my MBA, still have funding to do a second degree. I would like to do this one, but I want to make sure all coursework, including Capstone, can be done online.

How can you have a company whose slogan is, "Get Your Money Right" when your stock is down 50% over 8 months and negative over a 5 year time frame?

I know a lot of people defend Anthony Noto and say he is an amazing CEO, but he is not doing his job. His job is to deliver shareholder value, and the facts show he has not.

April 30th, 2021 the stock closed at $16.94/share

Exactly 5 years later, the stock is trading intra-day at $16.15/share.

That is a negative shareholder return over a 5-year period.

The market has hit multiple all-time highs over the last 5 years, and is currently at/near all-time highs. Meanwhile, SoFi is trading at a 50% haircut from its all-time highs.

Yes, you can say the business is growing, and in some aspects it is. But, in other aspects, it is not growing at all.

Anthony Noto refuses to fire the head of Galileo, who has arguably done the worst job of anyone at SoFi. The so-called "tech" segment is completely abysmal.

Noto decided to raise $3.3 billion in the back half of 2025. Fine, no problem with that... except for the fact that SoFi has sat on that cash. They deployed a few hundred million to pay down warehouse loans (great decision), but the remaining $3 billion has not been utilized at all.

Additionally, Noto has the responsibility to provide guidance, and over the last 5 years, he has been so conservative that SoFi has delivered a triple-beat for 18 consecutive quarters. Some people may see that as a good thing. What that tells me is Noto is far too conservative and afraid of his own shadow. He isn't trying to set difficult targets for SoFi to meet. He wants to set easy targets and beat them. He has... and the market doesn't care because they know this is what he does.

At some point, investors have to realize Noto is the problem. His conservative guidance, stock dilution, failure to find new leadership at Galileo, and ultimately providing negative shareholder returns over 5 years is the ultimate sign of a CEO who is not getting the job done.

TLDR: Noto should be fired. Anyone else who has negative performance for 5 straight years would be fired from their job.
