So for the past few years my wife and I have been camping in a small teardrop camper I bought off marketplace. It was a home made camper and not the best, but it was nice and light weight and easy to pull with her hatchback. At the time I had a 3/4 ton f250 that got maybe 12mpg on a good day, so using it to go camping wasn’t really an option. We liked the teardrop mainly for being up off the ground.

Well this past winter and spring I guess it started leaking. Before I caught it the whole thing was rotted and moldy. The shell was a total loss. I’ll rebuild it eventually.

But in my searching of teardrop and square drop plans I came across rtt’s. They peaked my interest big time. Started looking into them and really liked the clamshell styles. Found a killer deal locally on marketplace for this Naturnest Sirius 1.

Picked it up a couple days ago and love it. Spent today making the poor man’s bed rack out of unistrut. I have a camper top ordered but it won’t be here till November or December most likely (alibaba)

Heading out to my deer camp tomorrow and plan to spend the weekend in it.

After getting some recommendations from you guys on Alibaba distributors, I bit the bullet and ordered a topper today. Spent the last couple days talking to and dealing with a very nice sells rep that took pictures and videos of various toppers they sold. Settled on this design. They sell steel and aluminum alloy, I went with aluminum for weight savings. The steel version was 200 cheaper if someone is wanting to go that route.

Total ended up at 1400$ all in, taxes/shipping/everything.

I’ll definitely update when it gets here, probably November/december.

I’m in the mountains and tonight is the peak of the meteor shower. I want to set my gopro 9 black up to record sunset to sunrise using star lapse. I have a charger connected to it via power from our cabin. Soon as I hit the start record button it stops charging and the battery starts going down. Is there a setting or something I can do to keep it charging while recording?

The last 2 nights I set it up and let run till the battery was dead and I’m assuming I’d died a few hours after I started the recording. I want it to go all night tonight

So a few years ago I bought this year drop off marketplace. It was cheap and my first foray into small campers. We used my wife’s hatchback to pull it and it was perfect. We went camping in it often and enjoyed it and I used it at my hunting camp every year

Well it sat in the back yard last year and we didn’t get to use it any and it leaked. It was a total loss. So yesterday I demolished the whole shell so we can build a new one.

The biggest complaint we had was not enough room to stand up. So this one I’m thinking about building it 6 ft tall. The thing is, I don’t ever see any square or tear drops built this tall, they are almost always 4 ft tall. Is this just for ease of building since sheets of plywood are 4x8? Is there a larger reason no one builds taller?

My base is 4x8. I’m not planning to do a galley this time, we take a pop up canopy and tables that we use to cook under and the galley space can be better used as more interior space.

I’m also thinking of framing over the tongue and making a storage room.

A little extra weight won’t be an issue, we will be using my Nissan frontier to pull it now

But my main question is, is making it 6 ft tall a bad idea for some reason

Me and my wife make custom tie dye clothing. Found a shirt in my blanks that we bought for one of our other dogs. Decided to make Princess Tovi a shirt to match with mine

So my new to me 22 is experiencing the crackle and loss of sound periodically. My radio doesn’t have wifi so I can’t do OTA updates. I checked the version and mine is 406, the oldest version. Called my dealership and they said sure we can update it, for 150$

So I got on Nissans website and started a chat. Explained that it’s a known issue and that my truck has the oldest firmware and the dealership wants 150 to flash it. Told her I thought a software update should be free and asked if there was anything she could do. She created a case and sounds like it’ll be covered. So anyone else that wants to see if updating their radio but refuses to pay the 150, go chat with Nissan directly

I’ll update tomorrow after I hear from my local dealership.

So I’ve got a French bulldog that rides everywhere with me. She sheds some wanted some seat covers to help keep it clean. Found these on Amazon for my 22 frontier. Came in yesterday and they fit like a glove. Took the truck and showed it to a few friends today and they all thought they were factory seats and not seat covers.

Only part that’s not perfect is the head rest covers. They need to be just a tad longer, but that’s a minor issue.

Covers are comfortable, don’t slide or bunch up and they look great. Definitely worth the 100$

Bought a new truck today and of course, after taking my wife for a ride I had to take my Princess Tovi for a ride. It’s been in the upper 90’s all week so we’ve been hitting up the local pet friendly stores for our walks (Lowe’s, Home Depot, rural king, and pet stores)

After tonight’s walk she fell right to sleep, safe to say she likes the new ride

So looking at getting a newer truck. Currently driving an 08 f250 6 speed and it’s starting to nickel and dime me.

Local shop has a sweet looking 2022 frontier. Has 86k miles. Any know. Issues or things I should look out for?

Update**

So update, I bought it. The dealer treated me right on my f250.

The f250 was a 6 speed, had a flat bed, cab corners were rusted and had an exhaust leak. It was the 5.4 triton. I had a dealership do the plugs a couple years ago but the cam phaser hasn’t been touched and it had 111000 miles on it. I got the truck 8 years ago on a trade and had maybe 7k in it.

The dealer wanted 24,400 for the frontier. I started asking 6k trade for my truck and we settled at 5300.

After tax/title and all the frontier for right at 20k

This has been her happy place since the day I brought her home. If I’m up doing things around the house she follows me everywhere just waiting on me to sit down so she can sleep between my legs.

Added a couple more pieces to my book shelf today. Got my patches inside 3d printed holders. I have patch 2 and 3 coming so now I just need 7 if someone has an extra to sell.

Also got my copies of A parade of horribles paper back ( I ordered 1 and my wife ordered 1 lol) and framed my limited signed floor 8 poster. I’m going to have to build a bigger book case soon lol

Took a while for Loki to warm up to Princess Tovi but they’re best friends now

Princess Tovi was born Jan 30. We brought her home April 7th.

She was just over 6 lbs when we brought her home and she weighed in at almost 12 lbs 2 weeks ago at her last vet appointment

Finished this shirt last night, thought I’d keep it for myself but it’s a little bright for me. Plan on making another with darker style background so this one is up for grabs.

It’s a 2xl Gildan cotton shirt, Psamathe was painted on using thickened dye and then the body was dyed using powder and water irrigation. This one took me probably 4-6 hours over a couple of days to complete. The other pics are just progress to show the method.

Broke out of my comfort zone to do this shirt. I tend to do more geometric/specific tie dye so this flowy design put me out of my element.

This was a multi step shirt. First make a stencil of Samantha on my pc and print it out on card stock. Then use a light board and trace the design on a pre prepped shirt. Then mix liquid dye with thickener and paint Samantha.

Once that was done it had to set the dye, usually a 24hr cure time but I used heat to speed up the process because I’m impatient lol. Once it was set it’s on to rinse and wash.

Then a day staring at it to decide how to dye the rest. Finally decided on a Deity Roll design. Then I had to use dye resist and paint over Samantha so the dye wouldn’t transfer to her. A little bit did but it actually looks like war paint or singe marks from the numerous times she was burned lol. Usually this is done with ice, but once again I’m impatient so I used cold water and hot water irrigation methods.

All said and done I’m super happy with this one.

Had someone reach out asking if I could make another Quazar dyed shirt. This one I painted an upside down pineapple on the tie, seems fitting for Quazar lol

The Samantha is a work in progress. Haven’t decided how I want to do the rest of the shirt yet

For those interested. These are hand dyed using procion fiber reactive dye. The shirts have to be prepped by washing them with dawn, then soaking them in a soda ash and water solution. Once that’s done they air dry. Then I use washable markers to draw the design. Then I mix my dye with using powder pigments and my blend of chem water. Then add sodium alginate to thicken it. Once I’m done painting it “cures” for 24 hours before I rinse and wash. It’s a tedious process but I enjoy it and hope you all do too.

So I picked Princess Tovi up on April 7th. I work a trip job so I’m gone 21 days and then get 21 days off. I picked her up and spent 2 weeks with her all day every day hoping I would imprint on her as her owner and her my dog.

Well I just got home and here’s where she went after I came in and sat down. My wife said she was a good dog the 3 weeks but was always running and playing or would sleep in her kennel, she wouldn’t really lay on her legs or lap.

I think it’s safe to say me and Tovi are bonded and a pair now. Man I love this dog
