Question about Bot Bot bonus

So I was wondering how the bonus works. Does it only apply to something like Golden Bot if the bot itself is in range? Or does Gbot get the bonus if BBot is in its range? or is the bonus only applied to areas where their ranges overlap?

Captain Clark is the reason Async uses Caveman Cutouts with speakers

So we see from the start of the film that Captain Clark is the one that hunts down and, presumably, kills Narren Warne. Async definitely knows about "The pirate", and I don't think it's a far stretch to say that maybe they saw more footage of him throughout the complex with their cameras set up. It's not until later in the film that Phil sees the Captain Clark commercial and puts two and two together. But before then? What did Async think?

My theory is that they had no idea how a still life of a pirate showed up there. They knew time could act weird, what with the disappearance and reappearance of Peter. Async probably thought that that was a real pirate or something. Or the Complex's twist on one, maybe not knowing how it was created, was that a real person that the complex was able to morph and distort? They probably had no idea.

And if Async thought that could possible be a real pirate, from like the 1500s-1700s, what's stopping anyone from earlier from falling in?

Async then set up the Caveman cutouts as a way for even early man to recognize and interact with. A way to get them out of the complex, if even just to be studied.

Does Timer Ball timer start at the beginning of the battle? Or when the Pokemon is sent out?

Never been too sure of this. If so, then the Timer Ball is a really solid choice as most trainers dont send their Shadow Pokemon out until last. Meaning you get at least an extra 3 or more turns usually. If it counts only when the Pokemon is sent out then it's kind of whatever as I can usually catch something within the 10 turns it takes to start being better than Ultra Balls

Edit: does anyone know if this applies to XD as well?

So what's everything you would do in Colosseum to consider the game "100%" in your opinion?

A few things I'm thinking are of course catching and purifying all 48 Shadow Pokemon, completing Mt Battle mode afterwards to get Ho-oh, doing every colosseum to receive each of the 4 TMs they give you. But what else is there? I know Mirakle B shows up as an optional fight, are there any others? I just want to do as much of this game as possible. I have access to all 5 GBA games as well as XD, in case there's anything that requires trading.

I'm doing a gen 3 living dex and figured while I was at it I want to just experience everything these games can offer. I wanna take on the Battle Frontier and do the Orre Colosseum in XD, and a bunch of other stuff I just never got around to. So if there's anything that you're like "Oh you should do X in ____ game" I'll take that too

EO# or WS#?

I have a pretty well developed BHD that I use for farming, and my free-ups are 128%/130%/130%.

Checking my last few runs my hit by orbs % ranges from 72%-87%. Using this, which do you think would be better for me to get first?

Extra Orb Mastery is 250 stones cheaper than Wave Skip, but I'm also still working on my dissonant runs and WS# could help shorten them a bit and make them more tolerable. I also use my phone for work as well, so I can see WS# helping a lot to keep my runs going at a steady pace even when I need to use my phone for other stuff.

Help figuring out all the content I can do in gen 3?

Figured this was a good spot to post, since this is the most popular of the gen 3 related games subreddits.

I want to make a list of everything I could do in these games, I have access to every gen 3 game with traditional battling, including Colosseum and XD, but not every spin-off like Mystery Dungeon or Pokemon Channel. Just the main games of RSEFRLGColoXD.

I want Emerald to be the main game I do stuff in, but will trade around to Ruby/Sapphire/FireRed/LeafGreen/Colo/XD if I need to, but say something like "Getting the Gold Trainer Card", I only want to do that in Emerald since I lack the hardware/people to do the Pokemon Jump and Dodrio Berry Picking mini games needed for them in FRLG. And the requirements for it in Ruby/Sapphire are just easier versions of what it takes in Emerald. Essentially what I want to do is create my "Forever" save of Emerald, but also experience as much of gen 3 as I can.

So I have a list so far of everything I want to do including, but not limited to:

  1. Beating the main story of the games, so either Ruby or Sapphire, plus Emerald since that's different, then either FR or LG, Colo, and XD
  2. Complete a Living Pokedex in Emerald (I guess I could go through and trade every Pokemon through every game so I have a 100% dex in each game, but that sounds more trouble than its worth)
  3. Obtain all the Gold Symbols in the Emerald Battle Frontier
  4. Master Rank in all the contest categories in Emerald
  5. Catch and Purify all Shadow Pokemon in Colosseum, then take on the Mt Battle Mode to receive Ho-oh
  6. Catch and Purify all Shadow Pokemon in XD
  7. Finish Mt Battle in the story mode of Colosseum
  8. Finish Mt Battle in the story mode of XD (you receive a Johto Starter if you do, and can receive all three if you do it three times, but idk if I want to do it three times or just the once to say I did it)
  9. Compete in the Orre Colosseum challenge in XD
  10. Reach the top of Trainer Tower in FRLG on each battle mode
  11. Complete the Unown Dex by catching letters A-Z, as well as both ! and ?
  12. Obtain a Gold Trainer Card in Emerald
  13. Get at least one of every Berry you can get in gen 3 (I do have a working clock in Emerald for growing more/obtaining them from the Berry Master and his wife)
  14. Rematch all the gym leaders in Emerald
  15. Rebattling the Elite Four in Kanto with their updated teams
  16. Taking on the News reporters in Hoenn enough times that their script breaks and they no longer change routes (Will likely happen as I train everything for the living dex)

So that's what I have so far. Wondering what else I've missed and are quintessential to the gen 3 experience. If anyone has any guides for stuff I would appreciate it, like I know there's an optional battle with a "Mirakle B" in Colosseum but idk how to face him. Maybe there's more optional content that I forgot, hidden bosses or rematches that I don't know about. Any and all information would be great :)

I have a theory the Beasts, or maybe their trainers, got mixed up.

So I noticed some similarities between the Beasts' names and the trainers that have them. vENUS and SuicUNE. and then EIN and ENteI. And finally dAKIm and rAIKou... except that the last two dont actually match and feel like they were swapped. Maybe it was just names mismatched in localisation, maybe I'm digging into it too much. I was playing and losing to Dakim a few times and wondered if the game would be easier if I got Raikou instead and then that lead me to thinking about their names. Similar to how Eusine in Crystal is nearly an anagram of Suicune.

Is there a definitive ranking on econ masteries? Trying to figure out which would be better. All I have now (for econ masteries) is IS#

So all I have now is IS# and I've been wanting to get another econ related mastery, and I'm going to be over 1000 stones tonight.

  1. I heard that EO# actually has the highest ROI, but it was just one chart that I found months ago and idk if anything to do with disco runs or changing meta would alter that.
  2. WS# would be solid, I have ancestral BHD and a pretty well developed free-up %. In addition to being econ it would also be nice to make my runs a lot shorter since I use my phone for work and gaming at the same time.
  3. WA# I'm being told from the members of my guild that this is the definitive go-to for econ masteries. Would this one also help with cells?
  4. EB# could be interesting. Definitely bump up in cells and they also give more coins too. I'm just not sure how this one ranks.
  5. Coins# and CritCoin# I heard aren't that good. Like Coins# can be solid but it's one of the last ones to pick up, and I heard even many late game players pass on CritCoin# entirely.

Among this I also have Damage#, RPC#, EN#, ST#, and DM#. So I'm doing pretty solid on damage and want a way to increase my economy so I can keep my mastery researches going nonstop as well as investing into WS+ along the way.

Team Ideas for Emerald using anything in the national dex?

So I recently found out that by using Colosseum you can bypass the thing in Emerald that doesn't allow you to trade in National Dex Pokemon. So I was trying to think of cool things I could use in Emerald that I don't normally use. The only thing coming to mind that I think could be neat would be an Eevee-lution team. Though I am playing through LeafGreen now and I have Flareon on my team, but I guess I don't mind using it twice in a row?

If you could make a team for Emerald at the start with no limitations, what would you use? Or should I just play through Emerald normally?

For reference, I have a completed save of Ruby and Sapphire, and about halfway through beating Colosseum and LeafGreen. So I have quite a selection of mon I can use.

Finally, the white whale of my living dex is mine!

I learned how to use ACE to get this bad boy to appear in the wild. There was always this gap in my gen 3 living dex of this and Mew. I gave myself the Old Sea Map so I can get Mew next, but I had no other way of receiving Celebi.

For whatever reasons, the program I put on my Wii wouldn't let me put the Old Sea Map into Emerald since I have an English copy, so I was able to get all the other legendaries/mythicals. So I'm so happy that I finally let myself glitch the game.

Do you know if you need to complete Emerald in order to trade with Colosseum?

I've been trying to do some research and I'm getting answers on both sides. Some say no, you need to complete Emerald and get the National Dex in order to trade with Colosseum. Some say yes, that you can trade to Colosseum right after you get your second Pokemon and save in a Pokemon center. Others say yes but that you can only trade in the Hoenn Pokemon, which I know is a thing if you have non-Hoenn Dex mon in Ruby/Sapphire and try to trade them to Emerald.

Is anyone able to confirm this? Because if so, and I can connect to Colosseum AND if there's no trade restrictions then I could actually play through Emerald with non-native species on legitimate cartridge

Getting the National Dex is dumb and I wish they didn't implement it the way they did.

So I'm doing a generation 3 living dex, using LeafGreen, Colosseum, XD, and Emerald. In Hoenn I have this Breloom that I bred to have False Swipe, and then kept it a Shroomish until 54 so it could get Spore. It's supposed to be my catching Pokemon.

Well I was hoping to trade it around from game-to-game to help with my catching, but there's no point in doing that at all it seems.

So in LeafGreen, in order to trade out of Kanto and with Hoenn and Orre, you need to complete the post-game quest to get the Ruby and Sapphire. But in order to start that quest, you need the national dex. And to get the national dex you need to have 60 Pokemon registered in your dex.

The issue is that I wanted as many slots in my Living Dex to be stuff from Colosseum and XD. Which cuts down on the amount of stuff I can get from LG. And to minimize trading, I wanted to catch as much stuff in Emerald as I could where I can. This actually leaves me with less than 60 Pokemon that I need from LG. Which means not only do I need to catch a few extra things to hit that 60 dex entry minimum, but that Breloom is going to have to miss out on doing nearly anything in Kanto. And if I want to minimize breeding, there's only a few things I could get in the post-game that I could maybe use Breloom for. Sentret, Hoppip (x2), Unown, and Mewtwo. Which aside from Mewtwo don't really even need to be FS'd and Spored, and even then I was going to probably use my Masterball on it anyway.

I'm probably going to fill my Kanto regional dex with a few extra Pokemon but just not trade them to Emerald, like Butterfree and Beedrill which are easy to get, but I want the Shadow ones from XD in the living dex.

Edit: I wish they handled the National Dex a little differently. Either going the route of RS, which has no restrictions and you can trade in from any region at any point in time. Or maybe what Emerald did, to preserve that feeling GF wanted for a playthrough, and limit Pokemon outside of the regional dex until you beat the Elite Four once. Then that way I could just breeze through the game, and then trade in Breloom, and catch all the stuff I need afterwards instead of before.

Has anyone used Ponyta/Rapidash in FRLG?

I wanted to use one on my team, since there's not many Kanto Pokemon I've yet to use. I was getting this game mixed up with Yellow, which put Ponyta on Cycling Road (Route 17) but then come to find out that it's not actually available until you get to the Sevii Islands? Same thing with Magmar (which I think gives a point to FR that Electabuzz is available once you get Surf.

That just seems entirely too late to pick up for a playthrough, and for what? Weak to Giovanni, not even that good against Lorelei since she uses Water types, and then just okay against Bruno and Agatha, bad against Lance, and then it kind of depends on your Rival's team.

So with all that stacked against it, I wonder how many people have actually used Ponyta in this game?

Does anyone have a good guide on how to use ACE or the Pomeg Glitch (idk if they're different or what) in Emerald to get Celebi and Mew? Maybe give myself the Old Sea Map if that's possibly in an English copy?

I decided recently that I'm going to be completing a gen 3 living dex again. I had some reservations about resetting my copy of Emerald, since I had completed a gen 3 living dex a few years ago on it. But I figured, hey, what's the point of having this save and this game that I won't touch? It's not like I ever boot it up, look at my PC, and am like "Ah, good memories" and then turn it off. I might as well just reset over it. But I realized that this gives me a golden opportunity. I can do some glitches without fear of messing up my save file. If I screw up anything too badly I can just reset the entire game, right?

So I was wondering if anyone had some good step-by-step guides on how to set it up, maybe with specific instructions on how to give myself a Celebi and a Mew. I have every gen 3 game so I can obtain everything else legitimately except for those two. Or if there's a safe way to give my English copy of the game the Old Sea Map, then I really just need the Celebi, and give myself the OSM on my new file and catch it myself. But only if there's a way to do it without creating bad eggs or corrupting my data. Otherwise, I'd rather just create Mew and Celebi in Emerald, trade them out, then reset the save so I can start my living dex in a fresh file.

Edit: I am using a North American copy of the game in English. I'm not sure if there's any difference between that and maybe a European English copy. Figured I should add that in case it matters.

How hard is it to catch Pokemon in the post-game? Is it better to just catch as I go?

So for context, I'm doing a generation 3 living dex. In my copy of Ruby I have a Breloom that I bred and raised to have False Swipe and Spore. My ultimate catching Pokemon. But in Colosseum you can't trade to the GBA games until you complete the story.

I'd love to trade over my Breloom and do the catching in the post-game where it'll be easier, but I don't have any experience with how that works. Do I rematch trainers in their location? Is there something similar to Miror B in XD?

I did a living dex like this a few years ago, but I used Jumpluff for Sleep Powder and caught everything as I played. I never had to worry about anything I missed. But I'm trying to play through the game faster, and trying to snag along the way feels like it would slow me down. And I want to use a completely different team than last time and I don't want to use Noctowl for Hypnosis, maybe Dunsparce with Yawn but idk.

A few questions about Colosseum

Is there a tool for determining a Pokemon's nature before it's revealed? Or would IVs play too much of a factor and it's hard to determine?

I know that Shadow Pokemon don't start to accrue Exp until the shadow gauge is lower, when do they start gaining Exp? Also, do they receive EVs? Either before or after being able to gain Exp?

How late in the game do you think is too late to add something on your team? I think I would want my final team going into the Cipher Lab, but maybe I'll pick up something there. Realgem Tower feels far too late, though I will say I added Metagross to my team for the post-game the last time I played and that was delightful.

Does anyone have a list of the most/least used Pokemon? I want to make a team that's more unique, I feel like Colosseum is really restrictive and I need to force myself to use different Pokemon or I'll end up with a team of Umbreon, Espeon, Ampharos, Hariyama, Jumpluff, and Quagsire for the umpteenth time.
