I know I'm going to skip on all the econ stuff, but just unsure if I should be putting anything into the defense tab or is my best bet strictly nothing but damage tab?

I heard GC isnt truly GC and I want some health and stuff. If true, is there a ratio I should be going for, like X into health/regen/Wall health for every Y upgrades put into dmg/CF/SCF?

So, I want to play through CL again but I want to complete the Pokedex as I go, as I find that more fun than waiting to do it all in the post game.

I plan on catching a female Paras and a male Scyther, teaching Scyther False Swipe and breeding it to get a Paras with FS, and then giving it Spore later on. That will be my main Pokemon I use for catching things.

I was also thinking Lapras, just because it's cool and I never used one in Gen 2. Available right after Morty too which is nice.

As for the rest of my team, I am stumped. I was thinking I should try to fill the rest of my party with stuff that I just cannot catch the evolved forms later, so they evolve as part of my playthrough. Like Tyranitar. I can get Larvitar early, and I can catch Pupitar in Mt Silver, but if I want T-Tar I have to raise one. Stuff like that.

Was also thinking I could use a slot or two for evolving things, and only really have a main team of four or five.

Lastly I was giving some thought to Meowth/Persian as they get Pay Day, and that could help me finance all the balls I need, but honestly I think that might be unnecessary. Even if I catch everything as I go I don't think I'll find myself strapped for cash.

I try to avoid using Starters and repeating types, but I might give Typhlosion a go as it's the only one I can pick up to avoid any overlap

So firstly, I'm not really sure how Stat Exp works. I think it's based off of the defeated Pokemon's base stats but I'm not sure how high they go. Like if a defeated Pokemon's base HP was 20, I would then gain 20 HP stat exp, right?

My next question is how does this work when swap training? Like I know in gen 3 onwards that EVs do not get split between members that participated. If I KO'd a Kadabra I would gain 2 Sp Atk EVs on everything that got Exp. Is that the case in gen 1 and 2? Or is it split the way Exp is split, meaning between 2 Pokemon I'd get half of the Stat Exp.

I know that Stat Experience doesn't really matter for regular playthroughs, I'm just curious about the mechanics of it

So I remember a while back, before I was even really making it to high champs, people were telling me the key to getting there and to Legends was getting CL to about 1000x damage, maxing quantity, and maxing percentage. I did the first two but only got my CL% to 20%, or 35% with my DC's ancestral CL%.

My guild mates told me that 20% was fine and a lot of them never got it past that, and just roll with 35%+ with subs from primary and assist.

I'm wondering if maybe they're mistaken and I should get it to max. I really want to start staying in Legends more than the two times I have. And if not max CL% then what?

I have masteries and assmods unlocked. For masteries I have Dmg, DM, ST, EN, RPC, WA, IS, and EO. And then for assmods I have gen and core unlocked, with gen ME and SE just at 2% (I wanted to see how it scaled) and core ME at 10% and SE at just 1%.

I was thinking about unlocking armor ass so I could run SD as an assist.

Checking the Pokemon that can show up, they either have items listed as available in RSE and/or FRLG, but nothing about XD which leads me to think they are not capable of being caught holding items. It's really not important, none of them can come with any items I'm desperately looking for, but I am curious.

So I do nuzlockes on emulator with speedup, and it's still really fun, but playing at a slower pace makes the world feel more alive. I wake up, I boot up the game, I go around and I water all the berry plants I have. I do some of the daily activities (though this is less than what's in gen 2) and then I continue on my adventure a little bit. Sometimes it's just a route or two. Sometimes it's half a route cleared of trainers. I wish I could put into words why this is so enjoyable to me. To stretch out my adventure. I have nearly 12 hours in the game and only just got my 3rd badge. I'm just enjoying my silly daily tasks. And then I put the game down, either for a few hours or the rest of the day, but I come back and I do it over again. Maybe just watering my berries, maybe the whole cycle of daily events, but it's been nice. Calming, almost. Playing the game without speedup just made it a lot more enjoyable for me.

Also, does anyone else try to grow as many berries as they can? I avoid areas like the ones on route 103 and 116 that need Cut to access, but other than that I have berries growing everywhere else I can

I think the answer is probably that I have to do them all, but it's annoying entering in and out of the dialogue box for every berry, especially when I have a bunch planted all over the region.

So I was trying to start Emerald using a Chinchou and maybe a Spoink, both are available in Hoenn. For whatever reason it won't let me trade the egg from Ruby into Emerald. I'm reading conflicted messages, saying that you can't trade ANY eggs into Emerald before the national dex, and some saying you can but the game checks if they're Hoenn dex or not. What's the deal? What's the truth?

Trying to think of a team, and so far I'm really only considering either Vaporeon, Jolteon, or Ampharos. Though I'm actually heavily considering Lanturn and would prefer no overlapping types, but that's in the regional dex.

For more info on what I'm looking for, I'm trying to do a living dex using Colosseum, XD, Emerald, and LG. I don't want duplicates of Pokemon and want most of my living dex to be purified Shadow Pokemon. So I couldn't use something like Metagross or Dragonite since they're both Shadow Pokemon. So that limits what I'm willing to use. I thought about trading over some Shadow Pokemon that I used in Colosseum (Haven't started XD yet for this challenge so nothing from there) and I am super close to beating LG and enabling that to trade with Colosseum, and I have Ruby and Sapphire for catching late game stuff and breeding if I need to.

So I was thinking maybe trading over the Croconaw, Flaaffy, and/or Vibrava from Colosseum but I want something I can use early. I am just stumped.

Other things I was considering using but are in the Hoenn dex are the aforementioned Lanturn, Grumpig, Rhydon, maybe Huntail or Gorebyss.

I was looking at a list of ribbons and I noticed that all the ranks of cool, cute, beauty, smart, and tough ribbons are listed again in gen 4 on Serebii. Does this mean that if I wanted a Ribbon Master that I'd need to spend time in Hoenn doing all the ranks of every Contest, and then moving it up to gen 4 to complete again?

And then I was looking at the gen 4 Ribbons and the only one that doesn't seem straight forward past the contest ones is the Footprint Ribbon, where it says a Pokemon needs to have gained 30 levels. Is that just 30 levels from when it was met, or 30 levels in gen 4? Cause I plan on using a Shadow Pokemon for the National Ribbon and wondering if I need to make sure I don't go above lv70 if I need to level it up more in gen 4. Or if it's just 30 levels from met regardless of where those levels came from

And then checking the list it seems like there are no ribbons to be obtained in gen 5?

So I was looking at the obtainable Pokemon in XD and realized that literally everything in the Hoenn regional dex that you cannot get in Emerald can be caught in XD. Surskit, Luntatone, Roselia, Mawile, Meditite, Zangoose. And even some of the rarer Pokemon that are a pain to get in Emerald specifically, like Seedot, Ralts, and Nosepass, to a lesser extend Spheal and Snorunt too.

Using XD you can complete your Hoenn regional dex without needing any outside games, aside from the other starters and other Lati if you don't have access to the Eon Ticket.

And then I kept looking at the list and realized a lot of version exclusive Pokemon make up the roster. Vulpix and Growlithe, Sandshrew and Arbok, Syther and Pinsir, Lunatone and Solrock, Shellder and Starmie, Electabuzz and Magmar. You even get Weepinbell which makes sense since you can get the Oddish-line in the other GBA games. The only one missing is Slowpoke, which remains locked only to LG, which I find odd because Golduck is here but that's available in the other 4 games.

So overall I would say XD is just an amazing source, regardless of which version you have, if you want to get version exclusives. Just moreso for Emerald than the others.

The only thing though that feels.. off (?) is Poochyena. In Emerald it was changed that instead of Zigzagoon/Linoone spawning all across Hoenn, they were replaced with Poochyena/Mightyena. But Poochyena can be found in XD. It feels like if they wanted this game to pair better with Emerald then it should've been a Zigzagoon.

So I'm going through gen 3 again, with the goal of having a living dex, but I think I wanna collect all the ribbons too. Would maybe even be cool to have 1 Pokemon with every Ribbon! I guess my real question is about Pokeblocks and contest stats, how important they are to winning contests, and is there a particular Shadow Pokemon I should be using?

Is it vital if I go into a contest with 4 moves that match the contest's type? If so then I should pick a Pokemon with a wide variety of moves. But if they don't then I could kind of use whatever?

And of course I specifically said shadow Pokemon, as that's the only way to get the National Ribbon. Which means I have Colosseum and XD for also receiving the Earth Ribbon. I also have a working battery in Emerald, so growing Berries is totally an option for PokeBlocks

Pokeball Symbols: So in Colosseum (and not XD) you can get an icon on your trainer card in the P*DA based off how many Poke Coupons you receive. 2500 for Bronze, 5000 for Silver, and 30,000 for Gold. My question is, is this cumulative based off how many you've ever received? Like if I got 2500 Poke Coupons, spent them all, and then got another 2500 would I then receive the Silver mark? And is this only in Story Mode? Like if I did this in Battle Mode using the team I had in Colosseum (since the rewards are greater than in Story Mode) could I receive these marks on my trainer card in Story Mode?

I want to essentially 100% this game, and I forgot that these marks even existed. If it's only with the Story Mode then it'll take longer, but I could just do area 10 over and over

The berries: So there are the Apicot, Ganlon, Petaya, and Salac Berries that you can purchase. I'm going to be trying to go for a 100% completion of Emerald, which part of that for me is getting at least one of every Berry. I've not been able to find a clear answer, but is Mt Battle the only way to get these four in generation 3? If so, I'll be grinding for a long time, 15,000 coupons each. But if I can avoid it and get these berries some other way then I think I'd rather do that.

And lastly, the Earth Ribbon: So you can get a ribbon on a Pokemon for completing all 100 battles in a row, does this need to be done in Story Mode or Battle Mode? Do you get it for both? I'm thinking about maybe going for a Ribbon Master type thing and I don't want to waste my time doing one or the other and find out I chose wrong.

So I have a program on my Wii that let's me put the gen 3 mystery events into my games, so a few years ago I put the Eon Ticket into my copy of Ruby, and then using record mixing I was able to send it to Emerald. Then, recently, I wanted to replay Ruby and I was going for a full living regional dex. This was a brand new save, not the one that originally received the Eon Ticket. I tried mixing records with Emerald and my new save of Ruby, but I couldn't get the Ticket to move over. I even switched the sides of my link cable since one side is 1p and the other is 2p, and I know that can matter.

I'm wondering if the event ticket just cannot leave Emerald? Does the game somehow recognize that Ruby received the ticket before, on a previous save, and that stops it? I never used the ticket in Ruby the first time, just got it and sent it to Emerald, can I not send a "used" ticket to another game? Or does the game keep track of the ticket being sent in, and therefor you cannot send it out? Like if I sent it from Ruby to Sapphire instead, I couldn't send it out of Sapphire because it had already been moved once?

So I'm doing a gen 3 living dex using LG, Emerald, Colosseum, and XD. In Colosseum you get Umbreon and Espeon, in LG I decided to use a Flareon on my team. That leaves me with XD, if I want no repeat Pokemon, a choice of either Vaporeon or Jolteon.

I was thinking about team compositions and maybe I want to go with a Rain team? Either one would fit in if I did, either helping with STAB or making Thunder 100% accurate. Thunder Wave could help with catching stuff, but at the same time I'm not too worried about it because I can always snag them later, I have a Breloom with False Swipe+Spore that I've been using to catch stuff in the other games, and catching stuff after trading is available is okay with me.

For those of you that have foregone using Eevee, what is your early game pick-up to use as your main until you fill your team out? I'm trying to avoid doubling up on stuff I can get in Colosseum, so as much as I would love to use Teddiursa, I'll have to pass since you can get an Ursaring there.

So I'm currently doing a defensee disco, and a perk popped up for me. 1.65x damage but bosses have 8x health. Would this be good? Like, sure, helps me with most of regular enemies and elites (not on a tier with fleets yet), but I worry about bosses being too much for me. A lot of the time, far into these runs, I'm really only killing them with thorns. But I have no thorns and if I get hit that would probably be the end of my run.

So then that made me think about the other ones. Is there a list of what perks I should either ban/avoid picking for specific discos? Or is it too subjective on your specific tower?

So I was wondering how the bonus works. Does it only apply to something like Golden Bot if the bot itself is in range? Or does Gbot get the bonus if BBot is in its range? or is the bonus only applied to areas where their ranges overlap?
