Does 100% on-device AI help conversion, or only retention?
I am the solo founder of Stepzy, an iOS walking and workout app. I recently shipped an AI Coach that explains pace, heart rate, zones, duration, and recent performance entirely on the iPhone using Apple Intelligence.
No workout data is uploaded, there are no AI API calls, and it works offline. I expected privacy to be the strongest marketing hook, but early conversations are making me think users care more about the first useful insight than the architecture.
I am now treating activation as two stages:
The user sees one explanation of their own data that feels genuinely useful.
They return on another day and use that insight loop again.
For other iOS founders, has on-device processing improved store conversion for you, or does it become valuable only after someone already trusts the product enough to install?
