Hey, What alternatives would you recommend instead of knitting for olive?
I want to start knitting the Marielle blouse and knitting for olive is the recommended yarn, I have checked their website and with delivery would cost me +£80.
Thanks
What brand do you think is the best for long lasting garments ?
So far, I only knitted with drops flora/air and Crofts Shetland wool
Hi all
I am currently knitting a jumper with drops flora & air . The jumper looks really nice and it is my first time using drops flora- how does the yarn behave with time ? I liked the pattern so much that I am planning to knit it in a different colour and would like to try a different brand. Looking for recommendations for a 4ply 50gr yarn that will last very long ( no acrylic please ) 😊 Ps: I am based in the UK
Hi
I need a bit of advice as a FTB, I am currently renting a house which me and my partner love and our landlord is happy to sell the house to us. We spoken about the possibility of buying the house and when we were ready to buy, which we said it was around May 2027. The house was valued at 300k and after checking the current mortgages rates we said that 275k is what we fell comfortable offering due to the monthly payments for the type of house and comparing with similar houses in the area in the current market. We sent the email over 2 months ago and we had no reply from our landlord. Today ( Saturday ) he rang me saying that he is happy to sell the house at 275k if we give an offer on Monday and if we could speed things up. I am waiting for a mortgage advisor to ring me on Monday, but I do not think we are ready to buy the house. Currently we only have 2k in savings, and will end the end of the year with 4k in savings. ( probably more but there is a lot of birthdays and Christmas is a big thing in my house ) By January, we will be able to save 2k a month, plus bonus will put us with 17k in savings by May, hence why we wanted to wait until May to buy the house.
Our credit score is good/very good and our combined income is roughly 75k a year ( if bonus apply on the annual income and without overtime ). The landlord is happy to do a gifted deposit and we have been living in here over 1 year.
We still have a few personal credits to pay which will end in December this year, but we are happy to do overtime to pay them earlier.
How realistic is to buy this house and if speeding things up is a possibility ?
Thank you and I appreciate your advices on my situation
Hi all My husband asked for a spider man leather jacket. I have never worked with leather and I am wondering if I can cut the spider shape with a different leather colour and just sew on top? Or if there is other methods I can use instead ?
Thank you
Hi all
Was your first house your forever home? I am currently renting a lovely house in a nice area. I love the house and ticks almost all of our boxes for the perfect house. My landlord asked us if we wanted to buy the house and the house was evaluated at 300k. We said yes, as we like the house and made an offer 10% below EA evaluation price as we think that is the value of the house after searching near by sold prices and current houses on the market.
Now I am unsure if we should buy this house? The house is in a rural main road. The walls are thick and we do not hear anything from outside nor neighbours which is amazing but when a lorry pass by the house shakes ( there is no damages on the house due to the shaking and does not bother us ) I am worried if in the future this can become a potential issue. The garden is not very big and I would love to have chickens and plant some veggies. We can still do it but will have limited space. The parking fits 2 cars ( the cars barely fit ) and we would also want a caravan for holidays and have no where to park. The house has 3 big rooms downstairs and 3 bedrooms plus potential loft conversion ( previous owners used as bedroom but we would need to make it official and insure it ) There is loads of potential with the house and we really like it here, the parking and garden are our own downside.
After checking the market there are other houses with a nice garden and nice parking are priced around 330k however, does not have as much rooms as this house, which we set up 1 as a sewing room/office.
We are in our 33/34y and to be honest I hope the house I buy will be our forever home. Would it be a mistake buying this house? I honestly terrified to look around and then find issues with the house or neighbours ( we had bad experiences before )
Hi all
I need some advice on my situation please. Me and my husband are currently renting and we thought in the future we could buy the house since we like it so much! Our plan was to buy in 3 years time as our house is on oil central heating and we want to save as much as possible for the deposit and to put a heat pump due to the geopolitical situation and fuel prices.
This week, my landlord has contacted us and said he would like to sell us the house ( he was not aware we thought of proposing to buy the house ) We had a brief chat and he said he was in no rush. After 2 days he asked us when is the earliest we could buy the house since he also wants to buy another house with his partner and if he could send several estate agents to value the house.
We said that we feel comfortable to apply for a mortgage within a year, but my point of view is now if he wants to valuate the house now it means he wants to put it in the market now?
We currently have barely any savings, however we are in a much better financial situation and we can save between 500 to 1k a month from this month and from January 2027 up to 1800 per month. Our goal was to buy only when we had money for the deposit and 12 months savings but he seems in a rush and we had such bad experience in renting ( bad neighbours) that we really want to settle in here.
When should we speak with a mortgage advisor? Should we speak now or only when we saved for the deposit?
Honestly, I am unsure of what to do, if we should stay and pray that he waits or if we should start looking for another house to rent as we are scared if we wait and have to move in a rush we will end up in an area that we will not enjoy.
Thank you for your time
