What the hell happened to Joe Rogan?

I used to be a heavy Joe Rogan listener in the 2010’s. Now a days I tune in just for certain episodes for his guests, like protect our parks for Shane. I listened to the latest protect our parks and what the hell happened to Joe? I thought he painted himself as a “free thinker”.

I know this probably isn’t the right subreddit to post this in, but every conversation turned into a conservative talking point, and half of them ended with Jamie having to be like uuuugh Joe, that’s not right. All the guys seemed uncomfy, to the point where Shane kept trying to change the subject. I’m from Canada so I’m pretty removed from this stuff but goddamn.

Like him constantly defending trumps insider trading and corruption. The Israel- Argentina stuff, Joe being convinced that Amish people don’t have autism cuz they’re unvaccinated. Every episode I’ve listened to in the past year he talks about trans athletes. It’s a literal soundboard for right wing loonies. Why does someone like him even care about stuff like that? Let alone talk about it constantly. Jamie and Shane fact checked him like 8 times in this episode and he was consistently wrong.

What the hell happened to him? Has he been so lambasted by the left that he’s just now convinced by any right wing conspiracy theory he hears? How does this happen? Is this just the state of america right now? It’s crazy.

Like having literal clowns like Andrew Wilson who is notoriously clowned on every corner of the internet for saying dumb shit and pushing awful stereotypes just to have a totally normal conversation with him?

Joe was so down to earth, It’s honestly scary that someone can change their views so extremely and so quickly and how someone who paints themself as a free thinkers and independent mind can just be so brainwashed.

Why doesn’t Halifax have Ice Cream trucks?

So I’m a transplant from Ontario (sorry) that has been living in Halifax for a couple years now, and I always describe Halifax as an “ice cream city”.

Halifax does its ice cream VERY well. So well that the most popular business in the summer, the ones that consistently have lines around the block, always seem to be ice cream stores (Deedee’s, dairy bar, any cows location, etc). And when I say these places have lines I mean LINES. Halifax loves its ice cream.

Anyways it came to my brain today that I’ve never seen one of those classic ice cream trucks in Nova Scotia. Like the ones that are in every park in every Ontario town during the summer (pictured). I would think those trucks would make a summer killing.

Is this because independent ice cream stores are so beloved? And people are too loyal?

And at the same time what’s stopping a place like Deedee’s or dairy bar from transitioning a brick and mortar store, into a truck? Seems like a cheaper operation, it would loosen up the lines a ton, Plus they wouldn’t have to pay rent or operating costs during the offseason. They would make a killing!

Anyways, I’m expecting some good city lore to explained in the answers, cuz there has to be some reason!

Watching the worst people you know graduate law school

No one really talks about this, but I’m sure it’s a common thing for people who grew up in big cities.

I’m 25 and my friends are just starting to graduate law school and get jobs as lawyers, an esteemed professional career focused around THE LAW.

Being a social person from a mega city, I have quite a large social group.

And I can name you at least 3 people I know, who are genuinely some of the worst people I know, who graduated law school today.

The type of guys (white) who casually use the N word in group chats at 25. The type of guys who sucker punch people at the bars. The type of guys who vandalize house parties for fun. The ones that treat the women the worst and get belligerent and dangerous when drinking. The type of people who support the current American president (I live in Canada, so that’s like an EXTREMELY unpopular take here and basically only reserved for contrarians and people who “want to keep Canada clean” if you know what I’m saying.)

I know there’s no personality screening for law schools, but it’s genuinely just scary to me that these type of people can just make their way through law schools and get such important jobs.

Obviously a lot of these guys have been protected by daddies money growing up too. But it’s a real intimate look at societal problems.

The Darius Acuff Clippers - Dynamic, Dynamic, Dynamic

Okay, so I’m gonna start this off by saying I’m kind of impartial in who we pick this week. I think all these guards have a ton of potential to be great.

But I think we have to be realistic about this Darius Acuff kid. He’s going to be one of the the best guards in the NBA. Guys that produce like that as freshman just don’t bust. And it’s just gonna suck to pass on a guy like that.

I’m tired of hearing Trae young comparisons, because people didn’t that say that clearly didn’t watch Trae young in college. That dude was attacking triple teams and averaging 6 turnovers a game. Had games where he would shoot 1/10 from 3.

Acuff was hyper efficient in literally every aspect. Hes one of the most impressive players I’ve ever seen in college. He’s gonna be the face of a franchise and he’s going to hit.

There’s 3-5 small guards in the league at any time that are game changers. Even in the current NBA. If anyone in the last 5 drafts can hit, I really don’t see a reason why that isn’t acuff. Hes the best small guard prospect in years. Since kyrie. And the only reason hes not in the top 4 mix with the other guys is the weird stigma going around rn about small guards.

And the clippers shouldn’t pass up on that just because of garland. So I want to be honest about a projected team with Acuff and no major trades.

We’d be a team with major defensive holes on perimeter, and no centre to play help defense.

BUT HOLY FUCK WHO WOULD BE ABLE TO STOP THAT OFFENSE.

2 hyper dynamic, and SMART ball handlers, and Kawhi Leonard. Honestly who’s guarding that? And Acuff is just so so efficient and smart, he’d fit great as a secondary peice to with a gaurd that plays like himself. Acuffs catch and shoot numbers where absurd in college, imagine having Garland to help find him shots. That’s an extremely difficult team for even the best defensive teams to guard.

We’d have so so many defensive problems. And probably be a 7 seed at best. But it would be a fun season and keep garland expendable. There’s always teams desperate for moves at the trade deadlines. I can think of 4 competitive teams that could use another ball handlers like garland.

Anyways I don’t think drafting Acuff would be as detrimental to our ‘26-‘27 season as people think. Don’t pass on a guy who’s gonna be a franchise legend for whatever team that drafts him.

One workout can’t and won’t be swinging our draft day decision

I’m sorry I need to get this off my chest. All in the past 7 days, we’ve seen Mikel brown, Keaton Wagler, Kingston Flemmings, and now Brayden Burries all workout with the clippers.

After every single one of them, followed reports of how blown away the clippers were by these guards.
Which is probably true, cuz they’re all awesome, but cmon, this doesn’t mean anything.

I just want to remind everyone that if one workout is swaying draft decisions, we’ve got a real problem with our front office, cuz these guys have been showing out for years on game tape.

The clippers are a tight organization, it even extends into the fans with how they police the privacy of the wall tickets. Ballmer runs the org like a tech company with valuable data. This team doesn’t leak.

Likely they’re trying to drive up the hype of these guard prospects for either a potential trade situation, or so a top 4 team is dumb enough to draft one of them.

2nd round Draft Scouting (that no one asked for)

So the 2nd round has shaked up quite a bit now that we’ve locked in whose staying in the draft vs whose going back to college.

So let’s discuss some 2nd round gems that I hope can fall to the Clips!

Maleek Thomas - 6”4 - Arkansas

Maleek should’ve stayed in college. Leading that Cal team next year would’ve shot him up draft boards. Would be exactly like Philons rise without Sears. Thomas is a bucket who was just a bit outshined by the best offensive college guard I’ve ever seen. Good sense for attacking the rim, and a solid shooter. He was an awesome secondary scorer next to Acuff and played the complimentary role well, although I do think he could’ve been primary ball handler as a sophomore. Although maybe not an all defence prospect, Maleek plays hard and is capable of staying in-front of his man. Had to Clean up a bit on that side for Acuff this season. We need another point guard pretty badly and although maybe saying Maleek is a PG is a push, I think Maleek can develop a guy we can trust to bring the ball up the floor. I do think that NBA scouts think the same as me, so I can see him going in the 1st.

Jordan Clarksons - Cam Reddish - Lou Williams

Tarris reed - 6”10 - UCONN

Tarris reed won so many big games for the huskies this year. He’s a super high energy big man who’s a lob threat and whose touch around the rim actually became ELITE at Uconn. This match of energy, athleticism and touch is actually much rarer than you’d think. I think he’s gonna have a really long career as a solid starting center. Great rebounder, solid defender and very large both in length and width. I keep seeing the word “glue guy” associated with him, which is another great sign of leadership and intelligence. He’s probably the best clippers fit that they could make at the top of the 2nd, but I kinda doubt he’ll be there. This type of player is super valuable in the modern NBA.

Clint capella - Deandre Jordan - Andre Drummond

Trevon Brazile - 6”10 - Arkansas

2 razorbacks on the same list! Wanna see two YKN’s on the court at the same time? Then you should want the clippers to Draft Trevon Brazile. He’s a bit of a weird case like Yanic where he’s a bit older and still a project. But in flashes Brazile can look like Jaren Jackson Jr. but also can disappear at times, both offensively and defensively. But he definitely looked like an NBA player this year. I think he registered one of the highest verts of the draft, so he’s a super athlete, and also has a decent 3 pt shot. His college career got impacted by a pretty bad knee injury his sophomore season, but I think he could be a productive. Hes a bit skinny so may need to play the 4, but i think he can be in the NBA for a very long time.

Yanic Konam Neiderhauser - Noah Vonleh - Larry Nance Jr

The "no one asked for" Clippers Scouting Report

I did one of these during the college season, and I just think it's fun. They're mostly for me, but I like to share it with other Clippers fans. I even pulled out the computer for this one.

So here's my take on the Clippers' top prospects in this year's draft (that no one asked for).

To preface i have these top 3 guys ranked the same, id be happy with either.

#1A Keaton Wagler - 6'5 Gaurd - Illinois

Pros: So Keaton is the odds-on favourite to land with the Clippers right now, I do think hes a really exciting prospect. He seems like a hardworking and really mature kid. A big sign of that is how well hes handled this kind of instant celebrity he turned into this year. Most of us would have definitely have some Snapchat leaks by now. He looked comfortable with the ball in his hands at all times last year with Illinois, even in ginormous games. He fits the mould of a guy who, if a team sets him up to succeed, may be great

Cons: Low Floor. His lack of strength is a bit scary. He can get pushed off ball, and the NBA is very clearly going towards a more physical play style in the past couple of seasons. OKC Spurs series looks like a WWE match half the time (for more than one reason lol). I can see him going to a team like the Bulls or the Kings that wont help him and hell fade, but with could be amazing with a good franchise (aka the 2014-present clippers).

Player comp: Jamal Crawford - Tyrese Haliburton - Austin Reaves

#1B Kingston Flemmings - 6'3 Gaurd - Houston

Pros: I may be a little biased for Kingston. I love Houston guards. Kelvin sampson has turned several unheard of small guards into legit NBA players. And they all have that same super smart, hard-working, die for your team attitude. Guys that win basketball games. Kingston is that prototype to the mold but in a freak athletes body, as the 15th-ranked player in a stacked class. Super fast, Super smart, good defender, I don't care that hes a bit undersized. Hes already got a polished midrange game that looks CP3-esque when coming off the screen. Hes a guy you want to build your culture around. I can also see us able to trade down and still get him, which would be incredible.

Cons: Hes just a bit too passive at some points. Against big top teams like Arizona and illinois he just didnt look comfortable attacking and getting to his midrange. I feel like several times id see the ball get swung to him on the weak side and hed just pass it right back to the top. Hes a freshman, so i can understand but its going to need to change in the NBA. Im not even going to mention hsi size here cuz everyones heard it. Hes the type of guy that will be able to overcome that, 5'11 chris paul made 9 all defensive teams.

Player comp: Daaron Fox - Mike Conley - Chris paul

#1C Darius Acuff - 6'2 gaurd - Arkansas

Pros: I don't even have that much to say about acuff. Hes definitely the most polished out of these gaurds. Absolute bucket, 3 level scorer and thats 100% gonna translate to the NBA. One of the most fun college players I've watched in a while, and smashing his overs in March made me happy.

Cons: Again, everyone knows the deal with acuff. Worst defender I've seen in college since Trae Young, which is really unfortunate. He has the physical tools to be at least competent, which is another worry. Hoping hell work on that side of the ball so that he can have some postseason success, unfortunately #1 option, small guards that cant defend just don't win in the post season.

Player comp: Damian Lillard - Trae Young - Jalen Brunson

#4 Brayden Burries - 6'4 - Arkansas:

I like Burries, i think he has a pretty decent floor, and he'll be in the NBA for a really long time. Is he excited? not particularly. I just can't see his ceiling being any higher than a borderline all-star. Someone who will win you games but not series (by himself). But hes a 3 level scorer that plays defense, you can't really complain about that. If we got a solid trade down package and drafed him, I wouldnt be angry, I just wouldnt be jumping up and down yaknow?

Player Comp: Desmond Bane - Bradley Beal - Khris Middleton

#5 - Mikel Brown - 6'4 - Louisville

Ive been seeing alot of Mikel Brown hype recently and im not sure i really get it. He just seems to have the lowest floor out of any of these guys. Hes a great shot maker at the college level but i just feel like we've seen this guy plenty of times before. A bit inefficient, kinda undersized, doesnt have a great handle, not a super high defensive floor or ceiling. That being said i'm not counting him out as a bust, he just worries me a bit more than the other.

Trae Johnson - Khris Middleton

Other guys I LOVE in this draft but will be picked later (trade down possibilities i guess)

Labaron Philon:

Honestly similar type of bucket to Acuff, Philon may be my favourite player in this draft. Hes just an enjoyable player to watch. So smooth. I think he has just as high of a ceiling as any of the guards in this draft. Will be great value to whoever he falls to.

Dennis Schroeder- Damian Lillard - Stephon Marbury

Morez Johnson:

Morez is the future of the NBA. He'll be a 4, develop a semi-respectable 3-pointer and just be an absolute defensive game wrecker. Hell be able to gaurd 1-5 and His uber-high energy, freak-athlete playstyle is where the NBA is heading. Guys of his size, athleticism and drive are what will be key to helping a team take on Wemby. He was just everything and everywhere on the court for michigan this season.

Moosa Diabate - Montrezl Harrel on offense,

Yaxel Landeborg:

I think Yaxel will be in the NBA for a long time. Hes just the perfect NBA swingman prototype. A perfect top-tier role player. A big athletic body who will hit big 3's, play good defence, and be a great playmaker. Impact player right

Nicolus Batum - Shane Battier- Aaron Gordon

Bennet Stirtz:

Another one of my favourites, bennet has been the best player on every court hes stepped on since he CAME FROM PLAYING D2 FOR 2 YEARS. I dont even know how thats possible, this guy is so polished, clean and smart. Ben McCollum has worked absolute magic with this kid, and their sweet 16 spot was absolutely no surprise to me whose been following them all season. Big-time player that will make big time plays. Hes going to be the next great small white nba gaurd.

Payton Pritchard - Kyle Lowry - Tyrese Haliburton

James Harden Appreciation Post

Die hard clippers fan who had to take 2.5 years off because James harden is my least favourite player - maybe ever. His play-style hurts to watch, he doesn’t care about anything and he drains the energy out of teams.

This playoffs:

19 pts on 41% shooting. 30% from 3.

6 assists, 5 turnovers a game.

Defensive rating of 112

How nice is it watching him stink it up in big games and not have to be upset about it. Are you guys having as much fun as I am?

Surfers and White Water Kayakers of Nova Scotia - has anyone played in this?

Avid white water kayaker from out of province. Did the Cape split hike the other day and looks like a spot you can take a couple jet skis and white water kayaks to do some surfing and runs - as long as you have a jetski to tow you back to the top.

Has anyone ever played around in these?

Reminds me of Skookumchuch narrows in BC:

Edit: no one’s saying they’re going to do this lol. Simply asking a question. Why’s everyone so angry.

Also People raft and kayak the Fundy tidal bores all the time, stop telling me “the power and speed will kill you” lol.

How many Drafts would the Big 4 go #1 in?

Just looking at Caleb Wilson and Cam Boozers stats (the 3-4 out of the group), they look to be more productive as prospects than several recent first overall picks.

Obviously it’s hard to rank prospects in hindsight without looking at NBA cusses, but here’s my question. In the past 15 drafts (since 2010), when comparing players as prospect, how many drafts would boozer or Caleb go #1 in?

Flagg Wemby AD and Zion seem like locks to stay #1, but is that really it in this scenario? What about guys like Paolo? Simmons?

Acuff Highschool Defense?

TLDR: how was Acuffs defense in highschool?

Currently the discussion around Acuff is about how awful he is on defence, and his measurable don’t really give him an excuse anymore.

The counter argument around him is saying he was playing 40 mins a night and was 100% of his teams offence, so cal told him to try and hide on D.

Acuff just seems like too much of a dog to be this awful on D. It doesn’t make sense to me with that wingspan and athleticism. He seems to engaged game to just check out on defence.

What his defence was like in high school against other prospects? Was he a traffic cone or was he at least passable?

Ka-bye Poll

Wanna gage everyone’s take on wether we should be getting rid of Kawhi.

I don’t really see the argument for keeping him, so I wanna see other takes. IMO being stuck with one foot out the door with a rebuild is what dooms teams. Commit to the rebuild and potentially get more picks and young pieces.

As much as you guys hate on him Lawrence Frank is really good at his job. Trust him to draft and develop.

Too early Big Board

Alright, now that we have the 5th place let’s do some scouting. And for all the Caleb Wilson fans out there, I’m sorry but this is with the assumption that the top 4 are Dybantsa, Peterson, Boozer and Wilson.

Unfortunately all the guys that I see star potential in outside the top 4 are guards so that’s gonna dominate this big board.

Keaton Wagler - 6”6 guard - Illinois - 02/2007

This is who in my opinion, is gonna be the odds on favourite for the clippers to draft. Maybe the biggest freshman stock riser of all time, wagler was off draft boards before this year. Unique” jerky player that draws comps to shai and Haliburton and has a beautiful jumper. Led Illinois on an impressive final 4 run, and appears to be a winner, but his lack of athleticism is what’s scaring me. I think he’ll be a great player, but his lack of athleticism may keep him a minus defensive player, and if Harland’s out PG of the future, we may run into similar issues that Cleveland had with two guards that need help on defence. To put into perspective, 6”6 Keaton wagler had 0 dunks this season, while tyler tanner (5”11 on a good day) Tyler tanner had 16.

Player comp - Michigan Jamal Crawford

Darius Acuff - 6”3 guard - Arkansas- 10/2006

Let me get this straight, acuff is a BUCKET. One of the most impressive college players I’ve seen in a while. Gifted scorer at 3 levels, and a gifted playmaker. These skills WILL translate to the NBA. Whoever drafts him will get a bucket. But there are definitely similar (and exaggerated) concerns to wagler with his defence alongside garland. This new NBA is built on grit and size, guys like acuff are great, but you can only have one on a team, and we’re not getting rid of garland anytime soon.

Player Comp - A better AI impression than Trey Burke

Kingston Flemming - 6”4 gaurd - Houston- 01/2007

Lemme start with admission for my bias of Kingston Flemings. He’s who I want the clippers to draft. Kelvin Sampsons Houston gaurds are always dawgs.
And he’s never had anyone as talented as Flemmings, who he gave the keys too this season. Hes got the Houston traits, Good defender with better size and athleticism than some of the previously mentioned guards and he’s a Smart smart player. What stood out to me is how well he’d break down the game in postgame on court interviews. I remember Blake griffin always saying how hard it is to think in those when you have no oxygen in your brain. He also has that automatic Chris Paul - off the screen mid range jumper and a mid range game that all the best scorers in the NBA have, stuff you need to an ELITE ELITE scorer. He’ll love the NBA spacing. The one thing that worries me is he can be a bit passive against tough defenses, something he can hopefully grow out of .

Player comp - could be Isaiah Thomas, could be d’aaron fox

IMO this draft is good enough for teams to get desperate for a top 5 pick. if we can get a trade down to someone in the 7-12 range, we may be able to get some assets while potentially being able to still get one of those top 3 guards. And the quality doesn’t drop off a whole lot. If we do here’s some more guys to target.

Yaxel Lendeborg -6”9 - Wing/Forward - Michigan 09/2002

So Yaxel is an older prospect, but he’s extremely NBA ready, and pretty new to high level basketball, so there’s tons of late bloomer opportunity. NBA forward size, with guard skills. Has a pretty solid jumper, plays good defence, and is an awesome playmaker. He also just seems to be a great teammate, everyone loves him and he really puts emphasis into being a team player. I was low on his draft profile midseason, but he really impressed me as a winning player and champ. Although
he maybe doesn’t have the ceiling that these freshman do, he will be a contributing player on a contending team at some point. Quote me on that.

Player comp - Michael Beasley with a Latino mom to whip him into shape

Quick shoutout to Labaron Philon and Bennet Stirtz from Alabama and Iowa. Philips gonna go in the 10-14 range and he’s gonna be awesome. Just a natural scorer. He’ll be in the league for a while.

Stirtz on the other hand will land in the 20’s and will be a lead guard in the NBA. Best story in the draft, played D2 for 2 years and then was the best player on every court he stepped on in D1 at Drake and Iowa. Floor general that will be able to lead teams. Hoping my hometown team the raptors will land him, could desperately use a guy like that

Quick opposite of a shootout to Nate Ament. Stay away lol. He just looks flustered the best of times against tough competition. He’ll be a black hole on any team he’s on. Seems like the type of player a bad franchise will draft and will be in an NBA ball knowledge vid in 6 years.

Me and my girlfriend have been living together for 2 years now. I’m a university student and she’s a teacher at a school down the road (10 minutes away).

She has had a car since before we were together, but now that we live together I’m splitting costs with her 50/50 (insurance, gas, maintenance, etc…).

I was fine with that because we’ve done a couple road trips with it and feel bad making her front the full cost because I use it with her frequently.

However, she started doing early morning workout classes a while ago and now shes been taking it to work every single day. So essentially I walk to my campus every day, which is also downtown and can probably count the amount of times I’ve been in the car without her in the past 2 years. I keep asking her to let me use it more often, especially when it’s raining and she always says she’ll try but she hasn’t really. That being said I use the car a couple times a week to grocery shopping/activities, but she’s always with me.

Anyways, the car has had a lot of maintenance this year and we just got another bill for Almost $2k, and gas prices have gone up so I’m spending several thousand dollars a year for a car I barely drive. Im a student and while I’m not necessarily financially struggling, I’m not doing great either, and she’s often making large purchases and has very expensive taste (especially for a teacher lol).

We have a pretty solid relationship and I feel bad making her front costs. We’re moving to the city in a couple months so she’s giving the car to her mom, so this won’t be an issue soon But we’re saving up to travel once I’m done school and I’m struggling to fund that while she isn’t. I’m thinking of asking for a refund of some of the expenses over the past year.l but that also feels like a mean thing to do.

How do I deal with this?

Edit: my names on the insurance as a temporary driver, so her insurance goes up a fair bit because I’m a young male.

Hi everyone,

Just want to reach out to some mechanics for help.

I’ve been taking in my car to the speedy auto on robie since i moved to Halifax 2 years ago. We bring our car in once every 6 months I’d say for tire changes and just to get it checked out since it’s not the newest car and tends to make noise sometimes (2015 suburu forester). However, we don’t drive a ton and when we do locations are usually only 10 minutes away.

So, they’ve basically replaced the rear break pads 3 times in 2 years now, which seems suspicious, along with the other break pads and other maintenance charges that have costed us several thousand dollars.

I called them out for it once when they wanted to fix my break pads twice in a 3 month span, and they gave me a partial refund on the repairs. This was about a year ago and now they say it needs fixing again.

Anyways, I’m starting to wonder if they’re either not doing a good job with our maintenance or if they’re up charging/ upselling us because we know nothing about cars.

Does this sound suspicious to anyone or am I just paranoid? Has anyone else had good/bad experiences with this place.
