‘66 F100

I’m finally getting getting close to getting back on the road. It’s been too long. This is my first time putting a motor together.

Pilot bearing removal, 82 ford 300

So it had a pilot bearing like this. Used one of those thread in guys that pushes grease into it to push it out, and it only pushed out that center section. So went and got the slide hammer attachment.

It failed to pull out the larger section.

I tried filling with grease and putting a socket in on an extension the wrong way to see if I could hydraulically push that part out and that’s not budging it either. Theres not much of a lip on the backside of the bushing to get purchase on either. Hydraulically removing it could still possibly work if I had something that fit the I’d of the bushing better. I might still have options that might work, but I had to walk away from the evening.

Someone here’s had to have dealt with that bullshit and maybe had a trick up their sleeve.

It’s coming along y’all!

It’s my first build. Ford 300 for my ‘66 F100. Can’t wait to have it back on the road. I’m still saving up for new carbs.

Quick question: when I was doing the final torque I realized that one bolt was torqued out of sequence. I plan to retorque the head bolts. Am I fine loosening in reverse sequence and retorquing everything down, or should I just get a new head gasket to be in the safe side? I obviously haven’t run it.

Looking for a front end kit for a ‘66 mustang convertible, 289

My dad is looking to rebuild the front front end of his car and was asking if I knew of a fairly basic, best bang for the buck kit. He has manual steering.

I’m not sure what his budget is, and since I have a ‘67 F100, it’s a little out of my wheelhouse.

What do y’all recommend?

Edit: it’s a ‘65

First time building an engine

I’m really excited about getting to work on this 300. I really learn best from videos, but I did just get a ford service manual in so I can double check what I’m seeing to see if I’m getting correct information.

The stuff on the bottom of the head is just some lube I needed to wipe off.

Outside of cleanliness is next to godliness, what are some tips and things to watch out for? I know no lube on the backside of the connecting and main bearings.

I have an engine that’s currently at the machine shop. I need to find someone to seal the motor up and do a cam break in. I can’t afford to mess this up.

The shop doesn’t need to be in Greensboro, close by would totally be fine.
