Looking For Reccomendations

Southwestern USA

900 sq ft apartment, not many doors and the few we do have are often open to the rest of the house so it's kind of just one big interconnected space

Pollen allergens (mainly tree- Juniper, Cedar, Sweet Gum), Cat dander (pretty heavy amount of it, there are two of these little fur babies and they SHED), general dust (not an allergen, we live in the desert so its just kind of inescapable), would not mind paying a bit extra for something that could mitigate or remove viral droplets if such a thing is possible

Budget is actually fairly flexible right now (anything <$1000 is ok) though I'd still prefer as cheap as possible for my needs. If possible, would like something where filters are at least somewhat reusable, just to cut waste. filters also need to be able to handle a fairly heavy load of pollen, dust and dander consistently (so if I can't get reusable ones, I'd prefer they at least be very cheap so I can replace them when they reach their limit). Would prefer very low energy usage, and something that can run for a long time without risking overheating. Low noise also preferred but not required.

Another concern is that it be lightweight and/or wheeled, as due to a physical disability I can't lift heavy objects.

Needs to survive a large and hefty cat both climbing on it and bodyslamming it at high speed.

Tomato Seed Saving Advice?

(crossposted) Hi- barely a small farmer here, used to do ag work, now running a patio garden using those skills. I have three cherry tomato plants and they've done WONDERFULLY this year, and it's come time to decide if/how to save seeds from them. My first question is, given that all three of these plants are the exact same cultivar and there are no other tomato plants in the immediate vicintiy (that I've seen at least), can I expect them to breed true? I've only done seed-saving from gleaned tomatoes in the past, and those seedlings always ended up wonky. Secondly, because these are cherry tomatoes, I don't have large amounts of pulp ready to go at once. Is it ok to add new seeds/pulp/skins to the fermentation bucket once the fermentation process is already going, and if so how many days do I add to the ferment time after adding new seeds?

Entering Self-Employment For SNAP Without Paycheck

(New Mexico) I recently started work as a contractor for a company. I sumbit an invoice at the end of every month for that month's work, and recieve the check midway through the next month. This means I won't get my first paycheck til October 15. SNAP is demanding I submit proof of employment by the 31st. I keep explaining the situation to them (both over the phone and in-person at my local office), but they don't seem to understand it. They keep telling me that I need an employment verification form filled out by my employer if I don't have a pay stub to show, but then when I say it's contract work they say it's self-employment, and when I ask what I need to submit for that they say I need a pay stub, and when I say I don't have one they ask if I'm sure I'm employed, and around and around we go. I've tried to find any sort of "self-employment reporting form" on YesNM but come up empty. SOS!

Cleaning & Drying Fruit Pits

Hi! I have a handful of peach and plum pits left over from processing fruit for a recipe. I want to fully clean, sterilize and dry them, so that I can cover them in gold and glitter and use them as xmas ornaments this winter (for context, I somehow managed to come across a fully cleaned & dried pit a few years ago, painted and glittered it, and it is now a staple xmas ornament. I'd like to give it some friends). Any advice on the best/most efficient way to do this?

Weird Veins- Tricore or Quest?

Hi, looking for some advice.

I have issues getting blood drawn- my veins are very small (I've had some doctors say they are comparable to toddler-size)(I suspect I have Classical-type EDS, mid-diagnostic process there, don't know if this could be related), hard, and roll easily. They're also near/underneath major nerves, making it all very painful. Add anxiety and medical cptsd onto that, and, well, it's bad. I'm a screamer, cryer, anxious talker, etc, all on top of having tricky veins. I'm also a moderate faint risk. I currently need to get a blood draw in the next two weeks, and my only options are Quest and Tricore. Which would you recommend for my situation? (and yes, I do give polite, comprehensive advanced warning of the situation when calling to schedule. It's only polite.)

repeatedly rejecting passwords

Help!!!

I tried to reset my instagram password, as I'd forgotten it. All went smoothly, I entered the new password, got an "incorrect login information" error. Tried it again, "incorrect login information". Figured something had messed up in the process, clicked "forgot password" again, went through it all again, same result. Have tried on multiple browsers, using both account name and email. I'm worried this is happening because I initially entered the account name for my secondary IG page, not the one I actually made my account with, if that makes sense. But if that's the issue, wouldn't have using my email address instead fixed the problem? H E L P!!!

(note: if this is an Idiot Problem, please refrain from calling me an idiot. I'm horrifically stupid with technology. I am aware of this. I can't actually fix being stupid, sorry)

synthetic dye recs

looking to move away from RIT but still have a few synthetic pieces left on the To Dye list. I do solid color dyes, nothing especially bright. main concerns are colorfastness, opacity, blendability (as in mixing colors to create custom shades- I'm very picky about hue) and predictability of final shade, price, fewest possible additional ingrendients/gear needed*, lack of constant-heat requirement (ie no stovetop dyeing, though this is something I can be flexible on). Any recs?

*I already have dyepots for stovetop dyeing, a plastic tub for cold- or warm-water dyeing, vinegar, ironwater mordant, alum, dawn soap, cream of tartar, washing soda, basic kitchen salt.

Phone Rec?

Looking to switch to a Samsung as my iphone (yes, I know, bad choice, it was a long time ago) is finally nearing the end of its life after about 7 years of enduring my rough lifestyle. Here's what I'm looking for in a phone (also, I'm an absolute luddite around tech so exuse any especially moronic statements, I do not in fact know what I'm doing but I do need a new phone) :

 1. Price- I'd prefer under $850 if possible, if this isn't realistic then just whatever is cheapest within my needs.
 2. Battery and Charger- Looking for fast charge, long battery life, and compatibility with a USB or USB-C charger (though I think that's standard in Samsung phones?)
 3. Camera- Highest quality possible in my price range
 4. Data storage- See above
 5. Compatibility- I have a Lenovo Thinkpad and an Ipad, and would like to be able to transer files (mostly photos) easily
 6. Durability- I tend to put phones through hell. I paint, work with clay, do hand-tool woodworking, and generally get all kinds of dirty and grimy, usually with my phone in my pocket providing work music. If possible, I'd like something that is able to take some dirt & grime and survive/be cleaned easily. Accessible repair (at home or with non-hellishly-expensive servcies) also would be great.
 7. Functions: Aside from texting and calling, needs to be compatible with Signal, Instagram, Maps, Pocketcast, Qobuz, and Doordash
 8. Heat tolerance- I live in the southwest. I'm often working outdoors. I understand no phone can take extreme heat well but I want to make sure I'm not getting one that's prone to, like, serious battery issues from heat exposure or anything like that.

Basically, I'm looking for something under $850 that can accompany me to sculpture work, store a good few photos and mp3 downloads, play that music a long time without needing a recharge, and transfer those photos and downloads to other devices with minimal hassle.

So, any recs? (and apologies again if any of these are dumb questions, I don't have $ to fuck this purchase up and so am desperately trying to idiotproof it against myself)

First Time With Fiber Reactive Dye- Clueless!

Hi All

I was gifted a large box of various Dharma Trading Co Fiber Reactive Dyes, want to use them but am absolutely lost as to where to start (I usually work with RIT). Google search has told me they need acid and/or urea and/or expensive brand-specific activators and are overall complex to work with, which concerns me as I live in a very small apartment with a small brick patio and no outdoor spigot. Thought I was screwed til I saw a video of someone using similar dye in a bucket. Figured I'd ask here to hopefully get a real picture of the process with this stuff.
