I am athiest, i mean i am in this sub lmao so ofc i am one.

Buttttt I dont go around flexing the fact that I am athiest unlike religious sanatani people who flex it at every instance lmao

So today I went to my JEE coaching class, and during our break I saw my classmates have religious markings all over his body, so being curious I asked him what is up with that.

He told me that he had a puja(worship) in his home, and he put tumeric on his body because of that. He then asked me "bhai tera ghar mein kiska puja hota" (who do you worship in your home)

I then said, we have pujas but I don't really participate because I am an athiest. He looked at me eyes widened, like I am the biggest weirdo ever. Flabbergasted he asked me, "Tu bhagwan kaise nhi maanta??" (How do you not believe in god?)

So I simply said there is no proof. He then went around telling his bench mates "bhai isko dekh bhagwan ko nhi maanta" (look at this freak, he doesn't believe in god)

Then I explained calmly, that first of all there are multiple religions, and none of them were ever logical. There are multiple flaws, and I don't choose to believe in make believe.

He being utterly insulted then said that in a jagannath temple there is apparently this flag that flows in the opposite direction that it is supposed to, so that proves the existence of god because no scientist could explain it.

I then argued by googling it, and then actually finding an explanation. And then I also said, just because it hasn't been explained by science, doesn't mean that it is due to "God". Also scientists have always had proof for their claims, but none of them have proof for god.

He looked at me with pity, but I didn't stop.

I also asked him, if god exists why does he allow rape? The difference between me, and his god is that if I saw someone being raped, I'd stop the rapist.

By that time he was pissed, and said he wanted to debate more but the break had already ended.

Later I realised that it's best not to argue with a fool, it will only create backlash for me and religious people have a "small" history of violence :)

So we really just made small talk, and went home.

TL;DR- guy is shocked to hear I don't believe in god and tries proving the existence of god by using unexplained scientific facts.

I break his ego by saying that a lot of things are unexplained by science, and if there is a God, why does he not stop rape? The difference between me and god is that I would stop a rapist.

I stopped the argument to prevent future arguments.

I am a 12th sci student, opting for JEE.

I am pretty good at studying and find it enjoyable, but that all changes when my relatives start telling me.

When my mom, grandparents, dad all keep bringing up my studies, telling me how the topper of India managed to wake up from 10am and study till 12am, it just demotivates me.

I get stressed out and feel weak because I just remain silent, and honestly after facing so much shouting for my studies, the stress they put me through during my 10th boards - their disappointment throughout my results, I don't feel like studying anymore when they tell me to study.

When my aunt sends me motivation videos of students, or if anyone talks about how this student managed to get a 1cr LPA job, i just don't want to study.

I feel irritated and stressed out (i break my pens whenever it happens).

The constant pressure about studies has taken a toll on me so much so that even when they say "acche se padhai kr" i just don't feel like it anymore.

Studying just makes me feel so anxious when its on their terms and not my own, feels like work more than learning because of them.

I quit the gym just to focus on my studies but they still keep reminding me and I hate it.

Vivekananda never believed in the existence of god.

He went around asking everyone, "Have you seen God?" and got nothing but vague answers, never a true one.

Later, when his family was starving, he tried to pray for money. But every time he stood before the deity, he couldn't do it. Instead of asking for cash, he found himself praying for pure devotion and knowledge. That’s when it clicked: God wasn't a theory to be debated, but a presence to be realized.

In a country like india, being atheist is considered stupidity.

But when we challenge religion we somehow disrespect someones beliefs.

Religion was always sexist, castist, hypocritical.

Changing the rules today doesn't change what the original texts remarked (in pretty much every religion)

What is your opinion on people using and modifying religion according to what they need?

Also people that disrespect atheists are the weird ones, atheism existed way before religion and makes sense.

What is up with instagram? So many people are getting suspended, and most of the time they aren't even getting their accounts back!!

Isn't it weird how someone associates how good of a person depending on how religious they are.

Why not be a good person because you should be one?

I tried reading religious texts but basically quit that when they starting speaking ill of women.

A lot of the assholes I've met are hardcore religious, maybe because they use it to feel superior because without it they are just a bad person.

I grew up without a dad, never had a male role model at home.

Technoblade was a hero to me, his videos, his sense of humour, his intelligence. He was like a friend to me, his videos were like christmas come early to me.

When I felt the loneliest I'd watch him, he would always make me smile.

When Alex passed away it broke my heart, it meant no more jokes about orphans, no more destroying everyone in pvp, or anything in general that man was such a tryhard lmaoo

But that man inspired me, to keep going, doesn't matter if anyone else is ahead, and honestly crack jokes in the toughest times possible.

I still watch technoblades videos and enjoy them just as much. Technoblade will never truly die because of the impact he's had on me and millions of others
