Had a disappointing experience with an admissions staff member at UPG College. Am I overreacting?

Hi everyone,

I recently took admission at UPG College. I'm an outstation student and am currently trying to arrange accommodation in Mumbai before the orientation.

Today, I called the admissions office to ask a simple question: whether the orientation on 12th and 13th June is compulsory, since my accommodation is still not confirmed, and I was worried about reaching Mumbai in time.

Instead of getting clarification, the registrar madam talked so rudely. I was questioned about why I had taken admission in Mumbai if I was from another state and was told that I should have studied in my state instead. The call was then disconnected before my query was properly answered.

As someone who is already stressed about moving to a new city, finding a PG, and starting college, I found the interaction discouraging.

Has anyone else had similar experiences while dealing with college administration, either at UPG or elsewhere? Also, do you think it's reasonable to file a formal complaint? If yes, then what should I do? or should I just let it go and move on?

Would appreciate honest opinions.

SVKM seniors from outside Mumbai: Which PG/hostel did you stay in and how did you find it?

Hi seniors! 👋

I’m an outstation student who will be joining SVKM soon and I’m currently looking for accommodation in Mumbai.

For those of you who came from another city or state, I wanted to ask:

• Which area did you choose to stay in initially? (Vile Parle, Andheri, Santacruz, etc.)
• Which PG or hostel did you stay in, and would you recommend it?
• How was your overall experience there regarding safety, food, cleanliness, roommates, and management?
• Were there any PGs or hostels that you would suggest avoiding?
• How did you find a good PG as a girl, especially if you weren’t able to visit Mumbai beforehand?

My budget is around ₹10k–15k per month, so recommendations within that range would be really helpful.

I’m honestly finding the PG search a bit overwhelming, so I’d love to hear about your experiences and any tips that helped you find a safe and comfortable place to stay.

Thank you so much! 💖

Female student looking for PG/shared flat near Vile Parle, Andheri West, Santacruz (Budget ₹15k)

Hi everyone,

I’m a female student moving to Mumbai for college and I’m currently looking for either a girls’ PG or a shared flat.

Preferred areas: • Vile Parle • Andheri West • Santacruz • Or nearby student-friendly localities

My budget is up to ₹15k per month (I’m broke)

I’m open to sharing a flat with other female students or professionals. Safety, decent connectivity, and a clean living space are my main priorities.

If anyone has leads, recommendations, or knows of any vacancies, please comment below or DM me.

Thank you!

Guys, I am a non maharashtrian, so will it be fine if I send the xerox of my documents for verification with my relative and then I bring my original docs along with me after 2-1 days? Do colleges accept that? Because ofc it will take me time to reach there.

Help!! Do I have any chances to get in these colleges?

I’m so confused if I will get into ruia, kc or upg for msc biotechnology.. i scored 83.63% in my 5-6 semesters. Do you think I have a decent chance or I should just lose the hope?😭

HELP! I AM SO CONFUSED!

Applied for MSc Biotech in Ruia, KC and SIES, and MAEMA in UPG + KC. I have 83.63% in sem 5-6 and around 78% aggregate with OBC NCL category.

I’m not from Mumbai so I’m honestly kinda stressed about admissions 😭

Do you guys think I have decent chances in these colleges? Especially UPG and Ruia since people say they’re competitive.

Also if anyone here studied in these colleges, how was your experience?

Mumbai University application issue — documents rejected & no edit option visible

Hi everyone,

I had already submitted my application in MU, but now the portal is showing that my documents were “not properly submitted / unclear.” In one form

The problem is.. I don’t see any option to edit or re-upload the documents and It’s also not allowing me to withdraw the form

Has anyone faced this before? How do I re-upload the documents or correct the application? Do I have to wait for the university to unlock it.

Help!! Do I have any chances?

I’m planning to move to Mumbai for higher studies this year and wanted some honest opinions from students/seniors.

My marks are: Sem 5 + Sem 6 percentage: 84% and Overall aggregate (all semesters combined): around 78%

I come from a BSc background and I have applied for:

  • Ruia Autonomous College — MSc Biotechnology

  • UPG — MAEMA course

As backup options, I’ve also applied to KC college for both courses.

I wanted to ask, Do I realistically have chances of getting into the merit list of any of them? Which marks matter more during admissions … Sem 5 & 6 or overall aggregate?

I’m getting very mixed opinions from people, so I’d really appreciate genuine guidance from students who know about these admissions 😭 Thank you!
