Better written verse?
Ascendance of a bookworm
Higurashi when they cry
Shadows house
I haven't finished bookworm yet, infact not even close, but it sure is extremely intriguing.

Ascendance of a bookworm
Higurashi when they cry
Shadows house
I haven't finished bookworm yet, infact not even close, but it sure is extremely intriguing.
Some things to note
- The promised neverland is only my 4th fav story, but everything i have above it needs content from other medias to beat the 1st season of promised neverland (Higurashi WTC - Visual novels, Shadows house - Manga, Bookworm - Light novel)
- Wasn't sure what to put for overhated. I could've went for demon slayer but i have to also acknowledge that the story isn't that good and i mostly have bias towards it due to it being my first anime
- I am aware that the MC doesn't have romantic feelings towards Kayo, but i still wanted to put it because slight-ish romance-seeming subplot in erased is something i unironically enjoyed more than your lie in april, which is the only romance show i've watched
I've made a post on a diff acc a bit ago (it got shadowbanned for pretty much no reason, long story) and got some recommendations but it isn't really much, so i'm looking to expand my watch list
This isn't entirely my top 9 shows, otherwise TAD and RTW would probably not be up there, but i feel like this 3x3 grid represents best of what i'm looking for. Release that witch is more-or-less way less similar to what i'm usually looking for in a show but it's amazing regardless so i wanted to put it on here. And Frieren/TAD also slightly differ from what i'm usually looking for, but not too much. The top 6 animes are probably the best ones to use as a reference of what to rec me
And here are some qualities i am looking for in a show. If you want me to, i can update you on it once i finish a show <3 (though might reply with a different acc, prob not cuz this one looks fine for now)
- Kind, Silly, Likable, Preferably Outgoing, Preferably smart, but definetely not a stupid (preferably) female MC.
- The show should be to some extent funny and wholesome, but also dark in some parts, in a way that neither completely overtake the theme
- The characters should have an interesting chemistry, be a joy to watch, but also be easy to get attached to so the darker / sadder parts of the story don't feel mid
- Mystery, Psychological elements, logic puzzles or the show not spoonfeeding you information is highly appreciated
- Good peaks - the story should have atleast a few moments that will likely make my jaw drop, then be able to either come back to a more lighter vibe or have my jaw drop again. Every show here did that hella well
I just finished the anime and it is amazing. 9.5/10, which is an amazing score only going off of 8 episodes. I feel like it could easily be a 10/10 if i consume more of RTW.
See, i haven't really red a webnovel at all. I tried getting into rezero novels, but the extreme details and the longevity threw me off. Then i came back to my senses and remembered i wasn't a massive fan of S2/S3 rezero either way
I've red 2 visual novels (higurashi/umineko) and i enjoyed this type of content, not way too long but also alot of content to consume!
I'm also currently reading a light novel (ascendance of a bookworm) and enjoying it ALOT.
And i've finished 3 mangas so far (Shadows house, The promised neverland, Gakkou Gurashi)
I'm not sure how long the webnovel is, but i think it is very long.. Considering Bookworm will take me a massive amount of time to complete aswell, i'm not really sure i can bring myself to start another massive amount of media.
But if RTW has a light novel which i can read for free on the internet, or if the web novel isnt that big/extreme on details, i would probably read it, though not sure if after i finish bookworm or alongside it.
There was a manga too, right? Is it any good?
