DeFlock Halloween

It appears that many suburban cities north of Cincinnati have some of the highest concentrations of Flock cameras in the entire country. Mason has 47 with an average of 2.4 cameras per square mile. Sharonville has 38 reported cameras. Lebanon has 21. This region as a whole is highly saturated and a huge problem. You can check out the map yourself on deflock.org.

With that being said, if you have not seen any journalists reporting, or the current discourse on social media, this Halloween night is "DeFlock Day". Allegedly, many protestors will be wearing non-identifying masks, costumes, and sunglasses, leaving devices at home, and engage in "deflocking"- whatever that means.....

Just heard it through the grapevine and thought this would be interesting to report ;)

Found out via Facebook my parents knew for most of my life

This is such a whirlwind of information that I’m pretty emotionally numb after my initial meltdown from the discovery.

Last night, I looked my mom’s name up on Facebook to find an old picture. I noticed that besides the profiles that popped up, there was a post right underneath them in a group called “bi-polar”. I clicked on it and read through one of the most traumatic eras of my life. The post was made 16 years ago when I was 9 years old. I was having pretty severe, undiagnosed meltdowns, that ended up with me being wrongfully forced into a children’s psychiatric unit. I was never a danger to anyone or myself, but my outbursts were uncontrollable without answers to the point that nobody knew what to do with me anymore.

With that being said, the post was my mom asking people in this group if she was “doing the right thing” by hospitalizing me, and mentioned the doctor initially said it was signs of bipolar. I looked in the comments, my mom followed up some time later by thanking everyone and stated that the doctor believed I had “Asperger’s”. This was never mentioned to me.

Four years ago, when I was about 21 years old, I was struggling with depression, questioning things about myself, having an identity crisis, and that is when I started looking into whether or not I was autistic. Where this gets incredibly confusing, is my parents were supporting this process both financially and emotionally. They helped cover my evaluation costs and encouraged me to find answers. Not once did they ever mention anything about the previous “asperger’s” diagnosis. I got my evaluation, and was diagnosed with Level 1 ASD.

So- I have now figured out that they knew this entire time, and not only was it never mentioned to me growing up and struggling the way I did, but it wasn’t mentioned when I, as an adult, was seeking the same diagnosis?? They let me go through all of that while holding the answer the entire time?? And I find out via Facebook, on an extremely private post that immediately pops up when you search my mother’s name for everyone to have seen over the past 16 years??

How many people knew about this while I was kept in the dark? I’m at a loss.

My mom called me today and I told her what I found, that I was shocked and upset, and I asked her to delete the post. I also told her I didn’t know what all to say and I didn’t want to discuss it much further. I was met with an “I’m so sorry” “That was 16 years ago” “That was a difficult time for all of us”. That last line made me cackle and reinforce that I needed to talk to her at a later time.

I don’t know what I’m looking for here. Maybe just to vent. Maybe to find validation with anyone who’s had a similar experience. I’m also just not sure where to even take the much needed conversation I will have with my parents.

Tiktok stickers of black people. Problematic?

I have noticed recently there is an insane rise of people, especially white people, using reaction photos of black people constantly in comment sections of Tiktok. I’m not black, so I wanted to see what the community thinks of this and if it is potentially harmful.

So far, I have seen mixed opinions. It seems that some people see this as mockery, or black people being the butt of the joke. Others have brought up how society takes trends from black people, that they are “the blueprint”, so they view it as a compliment.

I personally have felt that the usage feels off, but I don’t want to make assumptions on things like this where I don’t have personal insight or experience.

Do you see it as mockery? A compliment? A mix of both? Something else? I would love to hear everyone’s opinion.

Sharonville Train Issue

I moved back in November and have to drive through Sharonville to get to my work.

It seems that at least once a week on average (if we’re lucky), there is a train at a complete stop blocking 3 roads at once for very long periods of time. I end up having to jump on that damn I-275 where everyone drives 10 mph under the speed limit and add an extra 10-20 minutes to my commute.

I have done some research and found that unfortunately, RR’s have all the right of way and power and there are no repercussions for impeding traffic this significantly.

I’m curious- does Sharonville have plans to address this issue? Add an overpass? Anything? Does anyone know why these trains just stop like that?

This is quite absurd and I’ve never seen anything like this. Ever. This also seems like it would cause issues with the Fire Station that is right next to where these roads get blocked.

Hearing parents’ sexual activity growing up

Was anyone else exposed to your parents having sex when you were a kid?

There were quite a few times where I would hear my mom’s “enjoyment” from my bedroom on the other end of the hallway. I remember just how uncomfortable, weird, and unsafe it made me feel. I would go as far as to call it decently traumatic for me.

It was clear that my mom made no effort to stay quiet and consider how her own children would be affected by it. As an adult- I know just how easy it is to not make a single peep.

So why? Why did that have to happen? Why do others frame this as just a normal childhood experience?

This was my favorite escape the room game.

Guy wakes up in a bathroom. Doesn’t know who he is or how he got there. He is narrating the game in a very masculine voice. He finds a wallet- I think it’s his?

I believe his girlfriend is involved in the story. He has to escape the apartment he’s trapped in. There is this weird, kind of out of place minigame that I think involves some sort of boxing fight? But with robotic gloves doing it?? (could be false memory of specifics). Minigame is very difficult to win but is necessary to progress.

Game ends in what I believe was some sort of shooting? Maybe explains why he was trapped there in the first place?

Please help!!!!
