Outsourcing website work overseas — too complex or pretty normal?

I’ve got a small ABN contract (about 16 hours a week) and only make a few thousand a month including GST. I run a website for the firm, and I want to add some new features — but I honestly don’t have the time or energy because of other work.

I’m considering outsourcing the development to a freelancer overseas because of the affordability. Basically just paying someone to handle the updates and improvements while I focus on my main job.

Has anyone here done this?
Is it overly complicated to outsource work like this from Australia?
Do I need to set up anything special legally (like a branch or entity in the freelancer’s country), or can I just hire them as a contractor and pay them normally?

Would love to hear how others handle this.

Axis CC approved without any application

I don’t have many cards and I only use DCBM for everything. Axis offered me a select card LTF along with my Burgundy account but I declined it as I’m comfortable with my current cards.

I wasn’t in India for a while and arrived just before yesterday for a two-week holiday. As I mentioned, I’m an NRI.

I hadn’t applied for any cards or even spoken to Axis staff for over three months. I did notice an email stating a card had been approved and dispatched shortly afterwards but I never received it.

The email was from a valid domain and all the details seemed genuine. I didn’t click on the link or visit the URL inside it.

Do you have any idea what happened behind the scenes? Some people suggested that the TPA submitted my application just to meet their target but how did they do this without an OTP?

Which provider is best for getting business emails cheaper?

I recently registered a proprietary limited (Pty Ltd) company as a solo founder and need to set up business email. I would like to maintain separate addresses for privacy (ask@admin@, and <my_name>@).

Looking at Google Workspace and Microsoft 365, pricing runs around $10 AUD per user/month, which would total ~$30 AUD/month if set up as three distinct accounts.

Is there any cost effective vendors?

How much are 125,000 AMEX Bonus MR Points worth?

There are many promoted reviews about the AMEX Explorer Credit Card and its offer of 125000 bonus points plus uncapped 2 points per dollar everywhere.

How can I calculate the value of these points? Will redeeming for flights or a hotel offer the best value? Do we have options to redeem against gift cards?

Half of the SYD to BLR economy flight can be booked with this much points?

Is an example of price decrease?

Since the budget was announced, many people have been expecting property prices to fall. However, opinions seem divided—some believe prices will continue to rise, while others expect them to decline.

I recently came across a property that I’ve been following for some time, and its asking price has been reduced significantly below the original price guide.
Could this be considered an example of property prices starting to normalize, or is it more likely to be an isolated case rather than evidence of a broader market trend?

Any NRI got HSBC Premier Card India Approved?

I’m an NRI and I’ve recently opened an NRE savings account in India with my global Premier status.

I’d like to surrender my resident HDFC cards and apply for a HSBC Premier Credit Card India variant.

Could you please guide me through the process? I currently hold an HDFC DCBM and a potential replacement would be the Premier Card.

Thanks in advance.

Is it fine to break the fixed term contract?

I’m a programmer working on a six-month contract with two months left. My primary task is already completed because I have done extra works and commited myself to the task assigned.

Since my work is a passion, I don’t want to spend time and overbill the customer. However, I’m currently without any tasks in my area so the customer is assigning me different tasks across various technologies. They’ll give me enough time to learn new skills but this won’t add much value to my career. The role is short-term and a few months in a specific technology won’t significantly enhance my resume.

I’m getting multiple calls with 10-15% increments. Is it ethically right to resign and accept the next offer?

No real advice in this sub for personal finance questions

What I observe in this sub is that nobody really gives advice for your financial queries.

If you mention you are earning thousands a day, you will likely get more dislikes.

If you disclose a plan to buy a car worth 50K, you'll get a lot of demotivation.

If you ask for an opinion about buying an investment property with a 30% down payment, you will get more dislikes and advice to wait for it to grow to 100%.

iPad deals in Australia

Apple has raised its prices in Australia. The base iPad model is now listed at 719AUD, up from around 585AUD without any offers.

Major retailers like JB Hi-Fi and Officeworks are still offering end-of-year deals on the old price.

For example, you can get a new basic iPad for 485AUD, which is about 32% of the current market value. Consider any tax implications and available offers when planning your purchase.

HSBC Premier (overseas) — can I get Premier credit card in India on an NRO account without India-based Premier status?

I currently hold HSBC Premier status in a foreign country and am moving my HDFC accounts to NRO to stay fully FEMA-compliant. I also have a HDFC DCBM, but I understand I need to surrender it since it’s a resident card.

As an NRI, I’m trying to set up a stable premium banking + credit card setup in India with decent lounge access for frequent travel. HDFC options like Infinia may be possible, but I don’t spend ~₹18L/year, so it may not be sustainable.

This made me look at HSBC Premier in India, since I already hold Premier status overseas.

My question: does HSBC India issue the Premier credit card to NRIs based on global Premier status, or is India-specific Premier eligibility required regardless of overseas status?

Would appreciate any real-world experiences.

Home loan approval chances with an Illion score of 542?

I'm based in NSW and looking to apply for a home loan with first home buyer benefits. My Illion credit score is currently 542, and I'm wondering what my chances of approval are and whether there are any lenders accepts this score?

The main reason my score dropped was due to a Latitude Pay account. I was overseas for more than a year and the account had a $0 balance, so I assumed there was nothing to worry about. Apparently, a monthly account fee was still being charged, interest was added to the outstanding fees, and I wasn't notified until a few months later.

As a result, 5 missed payments were recorded on my credit file, which has had a significant impact on my score.

For context, the debt has since been paid and the account is closed.

Marhaba Lounge, Singapore Changi T1

Food was tasty, though the spread wasn’t huge. Around 2 veg mains and fewer than 3 non-veg options during my visit. The fried rice was surprisingly good and reminded me of our veg biryani (minus the oil 😄).

Plenty of seating and a very relaxed atmosphere. Unlike some busy lounges, finding a seat wasn’t a challenge. Changi’s multiple lounges probably help distribute the crowd.
Alcoholic and non-alcoholic drinks are self-service and unlimited. Just don’t forget the fit-to-fly policy before your flight. 🍻✈️

Clean washrooms, quiet environment, and a comfortable place to spend a few hours before departure.

080 Lounge, BLR today Morning 8 AM

Access - Around 20% of the crowd looked desperate after finding out their cards weren’t accepted. The remaining 80%? Happy faces, unlimited food, and a comfortable wait before boarding. 😍✈️

🍳 Live Counters

The Eggs to Order and Dosa counters were packed throughout my visit. Even with people placing bulk orders for entire groups, the staff managed the rush really well and the waiting time was surprisingly short.

🥗 Veg Food
Not a huge spread, but the options available were good and tasted fresh. Quality over quantity.

🍖 Non-Veg Food
Breakfast non-veg choices were quite limited. I could only spot sausages and boiled eggs in this section. Maybe they offer a better selection during lunch or dinner.

🍹 Drinks
They had two standard alcoholic options along with the usual beverages. I tried one of the cocktails and actually liked it. It’s not on par with a proper bar, but definitely better than what I expected from an airport lounge.

👥 Crowd
The lounge was extremely crowded, and finding a free seat was a challenge. As a solo traveler, I got lucky and found one lonely table. Groups might have a harder time getting seats together.
Overall: Good food, efficient staff, and decent drinks. The biggest downside today was the crowd and the card acceptance confusion.

The pride of premium card (DCBM)

I landed from overseas to Bangalore airport today, and surprisingly a new lounge 080 Arrival Lounge caught on my eyes just before exit from the airport. The scheduled flybus was after 1 and half hours and my phone battery almost reaches 10% below. So, I thought to visit the arival lounge.

I saw 6-7 people just standing infront of the counter and keep swiping 3-4 cards. The staff in the concienerge keep telling them the cards werr imelgible. As i just waiting the queue I had look in to the cards tbose folks are swiping. Which are basic rupay cards, axis myzone etc.

Knowlgly or unknownly they are not met the spending criteria, and few of them arguing like they are frequent flyers and the same card got accepted in other lounge etc.

I was on the end of the queue. And I waived my DCBM to the concierge staff. He just asked me to come to the front and asked the boding pass. He not even asked boarding pass to many on the queue . Its surpirised me. He just hrabbed my card. Validated the name with boRdimg pass, and swiped.

Instantly i got a slip to enter. Liquor wasnt free bit thats okay in the late time of 1:30am. I greeted with friendly staffs of 080, and they prepared food for me with cup of black tea, which was wonderful than the bigget food option over the world.

Big Thanks to a 10k Annual Fee card DCBM. Its worth if you are frequent air traveler.

Even you are not, if you travel 1 time in year, yoi shoild be clear for the spending limit or have a premeium card for this. Its so worth .
